Its a little bit early but Lucie wont play any events before US Open so i decided to make a thread.
Lucie is going to play probably some of her most important touraments in her career. She is going to be seed 28.This means she will play unseeded players in R1 and R2 and then one of the TOP 8 Seeds.Last yaer she was quite unlucky and faced dangerous Tamira Paszek in opening round and lost in 3 sets. This week she is ranked #28 and I believe if she can reach R3 she will be close to,if not better, than her career Highest rank. There are some dangerous unseeded players and I would like her to avoid them like:

Alona Bondarenko
Gisela Dulko
Petra Martic
Venus Williams
Johanna Larsson
Sara Errani

The best possible draw would be some of these players

Davis [WC]
Parmantier
Pous Tio
Rodina
...

She will also play doubles with Misa Krajicek here.So Good Luck :cheer:

Yes good luck for USO Lucie :)

I'll follow her tournament with attention (attentiveness ?).

The draw is being done, I'm pretty sure Lucie vs Kvitova would be the 3rd round if both make it, haven't seen her first round yet.

R2
R3 Kvitova

Come on Lucie, step by step

Davodus

Ok, first round vs Rybarikova, 2nd vs Craybas or Madison Keys...so both winnable matches for sure. Rybarikova has a good serve and aggressive game, but she hasn't played since wimbledon when she got injured in the first round, so she'll be rusty.

Kvitova's level of tennis was quite embarassing for a pro player after she won Wimbledon

Robert-KimClijst
Aug 26th, 2011, 12:03 AM
This is a very solid draw. If she plays like she has the past couple weeks she should definitely make the third round. And I could see her beating Kvitova too if she is in good form. Lucie doesn't give her opponents a lot of rhythm and if Kvitova is off Lucie can definitely get the scalp. But we'll see... Lucie at majors tends to be disastrous.

Yes but her backhand is literally crap and being lefty Lucie forehand will pounce that backhand to death.

Davodus
Aug 27th, 2011, 05:56 AM
That's true, her backhand is one of the worst on tour  And she should be quite rusty, so hopefully a good matchup for Lucie.

Cincinnati to US Open
After Toronto my trip went to Cincinnati. It’s the first year the event is combined with men and they made an amazing job in renovating and extending the whole site. My coach Biljana was already there waiting for me. We started to work together in November and it’s going very well so far. I think we are on the right track. Unfortunately, I got sick the next day and had to take antibiotics so I struggled through my matches there especially against Na Li.
After 5 days I got better and started to practice for the Us Open. We moved to Newburgh NY with Biljana to stay with my sister Veronika. I was very happy to see them all, especially my little nieces Emma (5) and Anna (3) we had a lot of fun ! Last four days I’m already in NYC and looking forward to start my 7th Us Open! Hopefully hurricane Irena doesn’t plan to ruin it

Your Lucie

Lucie loves her nieces  And I knew she was sick in Cincy.

I'm sorry it was at Magda's expense but finally a GS win here for Lucie again. :inlove: I'm glad she was able to turn it around in three sets again, although it would be nice if she didn't chance starting too late and risk losing!

This couldn't be a better chance to make the 3rd, or really the 4th round. No Zakopalova or Goerges to contend with who were tricky 2nd round opponents so anything less will be a massive waste. If she can't win these type of matches against Keys or Dulgeru, even in a GS situation, then she doesn't deserve to reach her goal of the top 20 and beyond.

Still, she's done what we said she should try and achieve this year, a GS win at all the majors. The only time apart from 2007.

In her defence, looking at Keys, this is quite a tough match up. Keys has a strong serve and her bh is strong, so she is well equipped to play lefties. My first impression is that Keys is the only young American girl I've seen in recent years who might become good.

I would have to see a couple of other matches of Keys though to be sure. Lucie is no doubt helping this girl look good.

Great hold by Lucie!!!! Surprisingly clutch play when down break points. Two great serves and a huge forehand. After she held she gave a big fistpump to her box, so she's definitely more emotionally in it than she was earlier in the match.

I think it's very important Lucie wins her next match to call this Open a success. Sure it's nice she has made a third round at a slam and won two matches she should win, but it's time to start winning those matches a bit more consistently on the most important stages of tennis. Facing Niculescu in the third round of a slam is a gift, and it's time she takes advantage of it and make some important inroads. Let's go Lucie. :)

Keys, 16, falls to Safarova in three after torrid start
AP - Wednesday, August 31, 2011

NEW YORK (AP)—American teenager Madison Keys showed her youth late in her second career Grand Slam match, repeatedly blowing leads in a 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 loss to 27th-seeded Lucie Safarova at the U.S. Open on Wednesday.

In her debut Monday at a major tournament, Keys—a 16-year-old from Boca Raton, Fla.—became the youngest player since 2005 to win a match at Flushing Meadows. At 455th, she was the lowest-ranked woman in the field this year.

“I must say, she’s a very good player for her age,” the 24-year-old Safarova said, adding that Keys is playing “for sure, top-50 level.”

Keys certainly opened the match that way, racing to a 5-0 lead en route to taking the opening set.

“I didn’t feel very well on court at the beginning and was making a lot of easy mistakes,” Safarova said. “She surprised me.”

Keys went up a break in the second set before letting that edge slip away. And in the third set, she twice broke Safarova, only to give that lead back in the following game.

By the end of the match, Keys actually had won more total points than Safarova, 106-100.

“A lot of ups and downs,” said Safarova, who equaled her best U.S. Open showing by getting to the third round.

Thanks for this. You could definitely tell Lucie was surprised by her game, because she was playing a lot into her strength in that first set. One thing about the match that actually made me happy was her willingness to grind, when she was making all the errors, she started to play deep down the middle and really made Keys have to work for every point. And her defensive game is so much better this year than in previous years, she was tracking a lot of balls down.

Awful match but credit to Lucie for toughing it out. I really thought she was a gonner.

Niculescu is so beatable but I'm not going to get overconfident at all :help:

Niculescu plays so weird, so no doubt Lucie will make a thousand errors again, but hopefully she plays aggressive and solid enough to overpower her...but like you say, I'm not overconfident whatsoever

From interview with Lucy

I didn´t play very well. I thought I let her play and she would make mistakes. But she suprised me, served very well and pushed me from the first point. She catched me unawares, I had troubles to level her in the first set.

She played great. Served well and she has very good forehand. She pushed me from this side. But she made easy mistakes from beckhand. I was trying to play to her weaker side. I had to play tactically.

I must say, she’s a very good player for her age for sure, top-50 level. She suprised me especially with her precision and power. First time I saw her was before the match.

Last 3 years I lost here in first rounds and now I repeated my best result. I´m glad,I fought it.It´s a pity I will not play with Petra Kvitova. It would be interesting. I have never played with Niculescu. I would like to play my typical game. I´m not thinking about quaterfinal. I´m concentrating on the nearest match.
