It all means nothing, except/unless your a bettor (especially for those perpetually overrated players, that can't win a slam, or win one lately). Roll the dice.
But for us fans (and players), it's all won on the court.
It's best to take it all with a grain of salt (especially when it constantly changes, on the latest events, play and news), and just enjoy the Open. But if you're a bettor, you may want to take advantage of some of those changing odds (like Petra going from, being tied with Serena as co #1 odds at 3:1, to where she is now 4th at 14:1, based off of Toronto and Cincy play), if you were inclined to bet on her in the first place?
Whether you're betting or not though, may the best woman win! And good luck to your all your faves!

Looks about right  I'd probably still put Petra ahead of Azarenka though, and maybe Na too... plus I'd still have Wozniacki a shade above Zvonareva, despite the former's recent suckage.

The odds look ok, except Zvonareva who was last year's RUNNER UP should probably be 3rd favourite, Pushniacki should probably be somewhere lower(around 15th) and Venus should be higher around 5th considering that she definitely has a higher chance of winning than Pushniacki, Lisicki, Stosur, Azarenka and Petkovic:facepalm:

I'm thinking Li Na. Final AO, winner RG, at Wimbledon she should have beaten Sabine Lisicki and if she did, there's no way she would've folded against Sharapova like Lisicki did. In the build up to each slam she's playing poorly, then she clicks into gear.
That's it! I've jinxed her now, she's bound to get Stosur early doors now.

I am looking forward of betting odds adjustments after the draw is out and we definitely will know if Serena Williams will be promoted to a higher seeding tier (if USTA will seed according to the current ranking either a 1-8 seed or Serena Williams will be out after R3). Looking at the betting odds now, these are players are frontrunners to advance in second week (significant improvements for Marion Bartoli & Jelena Jankovic):

whilst i agree with you, sabine has always had top10 potential whereas pironkova has always looked like a 30-50 player at best.
dunno why li na is 25/1 while azarenka is 11/1. don't get me wrong, li isn't playing wonderfully or anything, and i don't think she's much better than vika or sth, but li has been there and won a slam, whereas vika tends to flop at slams, li owns vika, and vika's us open series form has hardly been special. i just don't get it, tbh.

I know that Serena will be ready for US Open, but this odd means she has bigger chance to win than all others players together.
She has 1,7, so it means that 127 others players together has odd something about 1,8-1,9.

I know what you mean about Vika and Li. I felt the same way as a Petra fan (though it wasn't a big deal to me, considering how she played Cincy and Toronto), regarding Vika. But many times if you look closely at the individual odds makers, you'll see variances. I noticed that Petra actually has lower odds than Vika (in the UK link you provided) with 3 out of the 4 bettors. But they still have her listed at #3 overall. So that may change. Lol.
Li Na can go up with some great wins. But maybe not pass Vika, who always clobbers scrubs, but can't seem to beat the big/hot player when she needs to at a slam.
We'll see?

Like I said earlier; odds change and fluctuate, depending on a multiplicity of factors. "Ya Feeling Lucky Punk!?" Go Ahead and Bet! Lol.
Seriously, I wouldn't take Serena over the field. Not at all. Great Champion! But Serena still has to prove that she can play consistent, fatigue free tennis, in a tough draw, for two weeks. And with the amount of time Serena has been out (and her drop out of Cincinnati due to fatigue and/or her foot), no one can be certain that she's just gonna roll over the field straight to the finals. Though I will admit, the WTA sometimes resembles the Key Stone Cops and the Tin Man/Woman in the Wizard of Oz with NO HEART, many times!
Regarding Maria; I'm not sure if you can call Maria a "Legend", and we don't call Clijsters, Lindsay Davenport, Justine Henin, Venus Williams (and I'm sure I'm forgetting others with 3 or more Slams), legends, as well?
When was the last time you heard some of them called Legends?
I guess, with Clijsters and Henin out, and with Venus as a basic non-factor, Sharapova becomes the defacto "next in line player" with the most Grand Slam titles after Serena? But how can you call her legend over/before those others???? It just sounds weird, when you look at it like that.
It's funny, another poster brought up Petra being picked by some betting house, ahead of Sharapova now to come out the bottom half. Cause Petra Kvitova is now ahead or tied for 3rd overall (or a very close 4th, with many individual betting parlors spiking her to #2 behind Serena) with betting odds for the US Open now. And this started to happen, before the seeds were announced, I might add.
Speaking about odds again; what's gonna to happen to Ni La after New Haven, and will Woz drop or rise depending on if she wins or loses tonight, and the championship?
Didn't some guy at CBS, actually picked her to win the US Open, as her inaugural victory of many Slams to come? Lol
