This would have been a very enjoyable match to watch. Great to see Petra is finally forfilling the promise she showed early in 2010. Really, when Petra plays her best tennis Wickmayer is always going to be toast against her. ;)

When I saw Martic in Bad Gastein she played awfully and not even worthy of a top 300 ranking, so I wonder what happened in this match. She can't beat top 30 players only by serving well, so something must have been wrong with Wickmayer imo. Cause Martic is really harmless from the back of the court.

When I saw her in Slovenia in 2009 (I think) she looked like she had a lot of promise. Then she disappeared for awhile....

Yup, on a fast hardcourt Martic should always beat Wickmayer, as she did at Paris too. She'll presumably play Zvonareva in the third round and I actually think she has a chance here.

I saw her match against Mayr-Achleitner too and it was bad. There was absolutely no fluidity and her movement was crap.

That said, I've seen Petra play other times and when she's on its quite amazing. Clay isn't really her thing.

2B fair, Wild Wicky did beat her 6-3, 6-3 in Miami last year, so only trails 2-1 now in their h2h.

Hope Petra is finally breaking through on the tour. In the past she had 2-3 good runs but she was either too inconsistent to repeat it for a long period of time or she got injured.
