from the wta website:

While the No.12-seeded Pavlyuchenkova was ousted, No.13 seed Jelena Jankovic had few problems - on the court at least. The champion here in 2009, Jankovic cruised past Iveta Benesova, 60 63, then told the media about her troubles from earlier in the day.

"Me, my coach, my mom and my sparring partner were on our way to the site, and all of a suddent she was supposed to turn on the highway and the car completely stopped. My mom was like, 'Oh this car is not working.' We were like, 'What do you mean it's not working?' Then we looked and there was zero gas. I was like, 'Oh my God, I have 20 minutes until my practice session!'

"Luckily the gas station was two minutes' walk. So me and my coach ran out to the gas station and bought that thing, that gallon you fill the car up with. We didn't really know how to open this nozzle thing because it never happened to us, but then he figured it out and it was okay. Then we got going.

"There were some players passing through and looking at us in the middle of the road, like, 'What is she doing up there?'

"A lot of people found out about this because they saw me in the middle of the road. I'm like, 'How do you know I got left without gas?' Why didn't you stop to drive me back!'"

The Empress Carriage stopped, and she is giving an account of what happened in her unique style of story telling

Jelena Jankovic of Serbia, seeded 13th, advanced to the second round with a 6-0, 6-3 romp over Czech Iveta Benesova, but barely got to the court on time.
Her car ran out of gas on the way to the match.

"I was like, 'Oh, my God. Great. I've got 20 minutes to my practice session,'" Jankovic said. "Luckily, the gas station was, like, two minutes walk.
There were some players passing through and looking at us in the middle of the road like, 'What is she doing up there?' Pretty funny. It's not how you begin the day, but how you end it."

Serena Williams extends winning streak

(AP) – 35 minutes ago
MASON, Ohio (AP) — Serena Williams, winner of her last two tournaments, defeated Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic 6-3, 7-6 (5) Tuesday in the first round of the Western & Southern Open, a U.S. Open tuneup.
Williams has improved her world ranking from No. 175 to No. 31 in her comeback from injury and illness. She has won 12 straight matches, tying Kim Clijsters and Victoria Azarenka for the longest such streak on the WTA Tour this year. Hradecka double-faulted on match point to send Williams to the second round.

French Open champion Li Na beat Lucie Safarova 6-3, 6-4 to become the first woman to reach the third round. The win was Li's first since losing in the second round at Wimbledon. She lost in the first round last week in Toronto.
"I needed some matches for the hard court," said Li, who reached the Australian Open finals in January. "It's always tough, but I was happy I could win the match today."

Flavia Pennetta upset 12th-seeded Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, and 17th-seeded Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium moved on with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Serb Bojana Jovanovski. Russia's Nadia Petrova edged Italy's Roberta Vinci 6-3, 0-6, 6-4, and Russia's Maria Kirilenko defeated Chinese qualifier Shuai Zhang 7-6 (2), 6-3.

In the men's first round, Andrey Golubev of Kazakhstan upset 16th-seeded Stanlisas Wawrinka of Switzerland 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 to end a losing streak of 18 consecutive matches in ATP play.
"It was very important," he said. "I lost a few matches when I was one or two points away from victory. It's really tough to digest.

Ninth-seeded Nicolas Almagro advanced with a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win over fellow Spaniard Albert Montanes, while 15th-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, a Wimbledon semifinalist, eliminated Croat Marin Cilic 6-3, 6-4. Croatia's Ivo Karlovic enjoyed a 19-1 advantage in aces while rolling to a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Germany's Florian Mayer.

Russian Nikolay Davydenko beat Ukrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-2, 7-6 (5). Serbian Janko Tipsarevic, ranked No. 20, ousted Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin 6-0, 3-6, 7-6 (5), Croat Ivan Dodig defeated Latvian qualifier Ernests Gulbis 6-3, 7-6 (3), and Czech qualifier Radek Stepanek edged American John Isner 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (4).

Moral of the story:

Thou shalt not rely on thy mummy to drive. A professional (and handsome) chauffeur shalt save thou from these embarrassing moments. Only $89.99 per hour, call 1-800-hot-chaus.

It is even funnier when you picture this in your mind.
Ana raising her hand in fist so that JJ can see it, than she uttered "Ajdeeeeeee", while pressing the gas pedal hard, that gives the car a jolt forward and speed away.
While JJ throwing her arm in the air, shouting , "that I why I don't live in Serbia, they are so mean over there", her voice drown out by Ana's speeding car's Nascar-like thundering noise
