Why did you choose Bennyko as your partner?

well, I wanted someone new after 2 years with Tony and Benny was No1 in singles , so he was "attractive" for me and I was glad that he immediately said yes when I asked him to play with me.
He is also one who plays "normal" TT, similar to me, couldnt play with one who goes for crazy upsets all the time!
Also important for me that I like my TT partner as a person and Benny was a friend of me before he was my doubles partner!

How boring, it's not the reason you chose me, MichiGod .

Do you think the TT ranks represent the reality of TT?

Not at all. It was proven at this tournament that our no. 1 was just a fluke. TF TT is a mess and so many players earn their ranking through one good tournament. I feel like the top players were more consistent a few years back. If anyone asked me to name all the top 10 players I would probably only be able to name 2 or 3.

Just a fluke? I had a GS win, another SF + 3rd rounds, YEC SF or F, two more titles and 1 or 2 PM SFs, counting towards my ranking back then. You're jealous .
And the top players were more consistent because there were 4 or 5 times less players in the game .

I hate when people say that. The WTA tournaments have been pretty much full since I started the game... Unless there was 3 tournaments in the same week which still happens sometimes. When I started playing in the beginning of 07 there were already a lot more than 100 players playing the game.

As for being a fluke or not.. I don't think you were but I have to agree with that interview in saying that there are many high ranked players who just fluked out a GS or something like that.

Leave us alone, it's called catty talk :).

Draws were full for sure (at least in big tournaments), but also less rounds of qualifying, and I believe it was easier to win matches in WTA tournaments. I was an awful player in 2009 and still managed to make several SF/F in MMs in a very short time. I started in mid-2007 and there were like 120-140 players back then. Now, 240. Before we began, way less. More players = more competition. Only the best can advance, and it's clearly not only about luck with this game, there are tactics that work, there's your knowledge of course, and other things.

And of course many high ranked players are there thanks to fluke wins. You even need a fluke run (in my case, 2009 USO final) to be ranked higher and get chances at MD wins in WTA tournaments. But in Alyouna/fencer/my case, we had over 6000 pts with a big lead and a GS win is 'only' worth 2000. You don't need much more than that to get to top 10. I can't agree that we were there thanks to a fluke run.

Well I'm not here to debate, I'm on holidays right now, weehoo, better things to do. I just responded to attacks from bitter players ;).

As much as you don't want to understand it he said that as a joke. I just told MH0861 that he fluked out a win against the world number 1. Thanks for replying to the interview we sent you, btw. Hope you win the best sportsmanship award again.
You could have answered just about the same question in your own manner. Enjoy your holidays.

Lol. That's crazy how you're sensitive here. I know Andreas is bitchy, and I precisely aimed at being bitchy as well, not seriously. A la Serena vs. Hingis, or Lindsay vs. Anna, yeah. Sarcasm shouldn't need 45 emoticons to be understood.
I never replied because I've had big exams until Friday and I've been going out since then. That's crazy .
Sorry if people misinterpreted it. I'm hungover.
As for the serious answer, it indeed was because you were taking it this way. And seeing what I say is true, you can't find any other way than being agressive towards me. And to think I used to like you. (Btw, I don't care about your effin' sportsmanship award and I know many people deserve it much more than I do.)

Can anyone help me out?

If Kuznetsova wins 2-1 then (5) Gumoll/Vincey! (POL/CAN) vs. Andiyan/Crazylace01 (NED/USA) where the only match which I think I can use is the one where they have:

Peng 2-0; Pennetta 2-1 vs Peng 2-1 x2.

In this case, I give 2 Incorrect 2-1 picks points to Andiyan/Crazylace01 right?

I don't think that's right... The other day there was a different mathc where only two players had picked the wrong winner and Meelis told me to compare those two ;) I think they get the Incorrect 2-1 picks... One or two points doesn't matter since you can't compare anything else...

gumoll
Sep 5th, 2011, 06:56 PM
but Vincey had Pennetta

from rules:

3) The new SR rule
All INCORRECT picks will be compared, and the player or team with the most incorrect 2-1 picks (as opposed to incorrect 2-0 picks) will win. That means, if both players picked the incorrect winner, but one player gives a set to the correct winner, he/she will get a point.

Example: Sharapova def. Clijsters 64 63

Player A picked Clijsters 2-0, Player B picked Clijsters 2-1 => Player B gets a point as he/she gave a set to Sharapova (the correct winner).

If your opponent picked the correct winner and you picked the incorrect winner to win 2-1, then you won't get a point.I'm confused now

but Vincey had Pennetta

from rules:

I'm confused now

That's why I got confused too because there's no mention of what's the case in the doubles.

The other day I had sth like this:

Team X Peng 2-0 Govortsova 2-1
Team Y Peng 2-1 Govortsova 2-0.
Peng won.

According to what I was told, in this case I have to give 1 Incorrect 2-1 pick point to team X.
So in the case of your match i just assumed i had to do the same. But i'll wait for Meelis response to my PM.

If Kuznetsova wins 2-1 they are tied in picks and SRs. Then incorrect 2-1 picks should be taken into account. Frank & Lacy would have two of them (gave a set to the winner), you'll have to check all the other SRs from this round and count the incorrect 2-1 picks.

so this rule counts for singles but not for doubles?!?!?!?! :cuckoo:

Jose.
Sep 5th, 2011, 07:23 PM
You make it like if it was a singles match so it's: Peng 2-0 vs. 2-1 and Pennetta 2-1 vs. Peng 2-1.

So it counts as 1 incorrect SR. Second one doesn't count since it's against correct winner.

or maybe
Peng 2-0 vs Peng 2-0 and Pennetta 2-0 vs Peng 2-1?

I think this is and should be different, in this case both team had the same winners but in our case I'm the only one who picked pennetta so it gotta gave us an advantage  The rules does say that incorrect SR only counts when both players have the wrong winners, in our case if you take 1 team as 1 player we have the good winner and they don't .

I totally agree with you guys but I just asked Meelis and he said I should compare your Peng 2-0 vs one of their Peng 2-1 and give them 1 point on incorrect SRs.

I hate this 2-1 rule, I can't do anything about it. I find it confusing and I did my job that was to ask the board about it.

haha yes I know, that's good thanks for that. Anyway I do think that rule will need to be sorted out for the double cuz has Tomek said there's possibility that it can be confusing to see which player goes against wich opponents. I'm guessing the name order from the team???

Well but it's the same as the other day.
If in this case:

Peng 2-0; Peng 2-1 vs Peng 2-0; Pennetta 2-sth, both Peng 2-0 anulate each other and you compare Pennetta 2-1 vs Peng 2-1.

Why does it happen that in this case:

Peng 2-1; Peng 2-1 vs Pennetta 2-0; Peng 2-1; the same doesn't happen and you'll give 2 incorrect 2-1 picks to the first team?

1. In case of a tie, new SR/TB rules will decide who moves on to the next round.
New SR/TB rules: http://www.tennisforum.com/showthread.php?t=425109

2. This is the official rules thread and I don't see this there:

All INCORRECT picks will be compared, and the person player or team with the most incorrect 2-1 picks (as opposed to incorrect 2-0 picks) will win. That means, if both players picked the incorrect winner, but one player gives a set to the correct winner, he/she will get a point.

An incorrect 2-1 pick point can only be awarded when compared against an incorrect 2-0 pick from the opponent or opposing team. This applies to both singles and doubles matches.

Was "interesting" reading the last pages :)

FYI Meelis has nothing to do with the Official Rules thread. Have a look at who created it and address your concerns. Make your suggestion to the General Rules (http://www.tennisforum.com/showthread.php?t=425105&page=2) so it can be updated then.

As for the 2-1 incorrect SR's Michael explained it very clearly already.
Peng 2-0 ; Peng 2-1 vs. Pennetta 2-sth ; Peng 2-0 => no incorrect SR for Team A
Peng 2-1 ; Peng 2-1 vs. Pennetta 2-sth ; Peng 2-0 => 1 incorrect SR for Team A

well Peng 2-0 is same here from Team A and B in first case, so nothing to compare here!
so only thing left to compare is Peng 2-1 vs Pennetta 2-sth and in this case the incorrect 2-1 pick doesn´t count obviously as your opponent picked the right winner!

in the 2nd case you have 2 Peng 2-1 picks , so one of those doesn´t count as of the Pennetta 2-sth pick but then you have Peng 2-1 vs. Peng 2-0 left and in this case Team A gets one incorrect SR for the Peng 2-1 pick while Team B just gets a point for the Pennetta 2-sth pick!

This is what you're supposed to do in Doubles.

Name: Matt
Country: USA
Age: 26
Favourite player: Maria Kirilenko

When did you start playing? Talk a little about your TT career...

I started playing at the very beginning of 2007, so a little over four years now. Unsurprisingly, I won my first event in doubles at Hobart, so I knew this was going to be a good career for me.

What has been your best moment/carrer highlight in TT? Singles and Doubles?

For singles, I would say winning Indian Wells in 2010 was my highlight and my biggest win. For doubles, it has to be my Roland Garros title with James in 2008, followed closely by reaching #1 when we won so many titles in 2009 together.

How would you rate your season so far?

Not great. I'd give it a 4/10. Singles has been OK, I have maintained a Top 40 ranking, but doubles has not been going well, so this run at the US Open is really satisfying.

You reached the 3rd round in the singles and fluked out a win against the world number 1. Was this a good tournament in singles?

Was it a fluke win, or just a fluke #1 we had? :oh: I'm satisfied with my third round appearance, but I did have higher expectations for myself. This is the only slam I have not reached the QF at in singles, so I was hoping to go further.

As for the doubles you're still in the tournament and obviously you and James have the experience of being in these phases before... Do you have what it takes to win the final 3 matches?

Of course, we work really well together and once we get to the end of tournaments, we are very difficult to beat. We also have won a slam before, as well as the YEC, so there really isn't that much pressure.

What are your goals for the rest of the year?

I've won a singles titles every season from 2007-2010, so I'm really looking to extend that streak in 2011 with another singles title. I'd like to finish 2011 with a Top 30 singles and doubles ranking

Who do you think are the favourites for the singles and doubles titles?

No doubt James for singles as a former champion here, and James/MH0861 for doubles. James is a former champion here and a GOAT and I'd like to see him start banning our opponents before they can send picks to ensure a win

Who are your biggest rivals on TT?

I would say "GOAT" team Chris/Milan, but how can someone be your rival when you are about 32-1 against them? Hope you enjoyed your R1 loss, boys!

Whose player(s) do you hate (to face)?

I really don't like playing Rik. in singles, he seems to beat me all the time in important moments like slam QFs and the Moscow final last year, while I usually win in ITF $25k R1 matches

Do you think the TT ranks represent the reality of TT?

In general yes, although in singles there are people who fluke out good slam runs and then have a nice ranking for the rest of the year. I would say doubles for sure generally represents the realities of TT as the same teams tend to do well consistently. It seems harder to do that in singles.

What's your favorite tournament?

Indian Wells, it's an event I always tend to do well in. I made the singles final in 2007, won the singles in 2010, and won the doubles in 2009.

Why did you choose James as your partner? Who's the powerhouse of the team?

It's so long ago that it's hard to remember. I believe we played a bit together in 2007, and after the 2007 season my regular partner was banned from TF and James did not have a regular partner, so we decided to team up full time in 2008. I would say we take turns being the powerhouse of the team, we compliment each other very well. James is not afraid to take risks, so he can really pull out some incredible victories for us.

Talk a little about your general atitude on-court..

Actually, you would be surprised, I am polite, I even make sure I smile at the managers each day I play in my PM to help brighten up their days  I will say though that I am very emotional and like to pump myself up, lots of fist pumps and "come on's" as well with each good pick.

Is the rivarly in the USA team growing bigger by the day as we approach the Olympics in 2012?

Yes, I think the rest of the US team is wondering who will join me on the Olympic Squad in 2012, so I think there is a lot of pressure for the little people there. I was part of a winning Fed Cup team (going undefeated that year) so I'm really looking forward to the Olympics.

Talk a little about your argument with Crazylace01. Were you just feeling outshined and was that only a desperate attention-seeking moment?

I don't think it was an argument, I am just surprised that the Megan Moulton-Levy of TT USA was given an interview over me. But she's in the QFs as well of this event so she must be doing something right.

What does your next outfit look like?

I can't share that info, it's top secret, only James got a sneak peak :hearts:

Last but not least... Are the F-bombs to be expected in your next matches as the tension grows?

While I am pleasant on court, I make no promises about the language or violence I may show if I don't win this title off-court!

Your managers, José and Rui. :D

The Wozniacki vs Petkovic match is shown as N.B. 15-00hrs local time, so will this be the deadline for sending tomorrows picks?

well, Kerber vs. Pennetta starts after the two ATP matches but this match isnt shown as N.B xx time, so it could be that both guys in those 2 matches give a walkover and then Kerber vs. Pennetta could start (let´s say around 1pm or whatever.)

This won´t happen to 99% but u can´t put deadline on 3pm bc of that, u normally have normal deadline of 11am local time then in such cases, even if matches start a few hours later!

It still could be possible to send picks like: If I am down after "1st day"! : Pavlyuchenkova 64 63, If I am up : S. Williams 64 63

But I have no idea if that is allowed , there aren´t any rules about that

bah, too late for me,I can´t think anymore, all that blabla for nothing, we cant change picks for 1st day anyway, and 2nd day matches start NB 3pm anyway

Picks have already been sent for that match, so it doesn't affect the picks which need to be sent tomorrow. For these other two QF matches the earliest start time on the OOP is 3.00pm so Jose is correct that this should be the deadline.

The majority of diffs on Day 1 are dependant upon the Stosur vs Zvonareva match, so hopefully the result of this match will be known before the 3.00pm deadline.

well, Vera match is on same court, so all people with diffs in the Vera vs Sam match can wait until that match is over and then send picks. Only a problem for those with Kerber vs. Pennetta diff as that match probably won´t be over before Wozniacki vs Petkovic starts...

Interview with James

http://www.celebritiesheight.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Klara-Zakopalova-224x300.jpg

Name: Eddy (most people should know that by now, James is just my nickname)
Age: 35
Country: The Netherlands
Favourite player: Zakopalova

When did you start playing? Talk a little about your TT career...

I am already playing for so long, that I don’t know anymore when I started exactly. I have had a career of highs and lows, but I have always enjoyed playing a lot.

What has been your best moment/career highlight in TT? Singles and Doubles?

Obviously winning the US Open in singles and the French Open in doubles. Another highlight was winning the sportsmanship award at one point.

How would you rate your season so far?

It has been really bad with a string of first round exits. It was pretty rough and I even considered retiring, but fortunately Matt convinced me to play for a little bit longer. And now the confidence is back again.

Quarter-Finals in singles and Semi-Finals in doubles with the possibility to advance even more in doubles... Career refreshing tournament, right?

I certainly can use this boost. At least now I know there is nothing wrong with my skills. I know how to play well, if only the WTA players would not be so erratic sometimes.

You've been in this phases before, you won a tournament like this before and you were number 1 doubles... How will the experience help you right now?

You know it’s important to take it one step at a time. Having the best score in a round is nice, but in the end winning matches is what counts, being one step ahead of your opponent.

How much do you hate these rain delays and how do you and MH0861 spend the time through them?

I don’t mind them. Matt usually has some really good inside stories to share, so we get by.

What are your goals for the rest of the year?

Just taking it one tournament at a time. Hopefully the result here will inspire me to some more good things in the fall.

Who do you think are the favourites for the singles and doubles titles?

Of course we are doubles favourites, due to our experience. But with so many great players out there, it’s hard to predict.

Who are your biggest rivals on TT?

I don’t think I have any.

Whose player(s) do you hate (to face)?

I don’t mind facing anyone. Or did you mean which WTA players do I hate to have to pick for? Mostly the ones who are extremely erratic.

Do you think the TT ranks represent the reality of TT?

Yeah, pretty much. My ranking is just about right considering the season I have had. The players that are ranked high deserve to be so.

What's your favorite tournament?

My home event at Rosmalen. It’s nice to play at home.

Why did you choose MH0861 as your partner? Who's the powerhouse of the team?

Both our partners at the time left. His was permabanned and mine left to do military service in the Israeli army for two years. We played together for a while and it worked well, so we became permanent partners. Our strength lies in the fact that we complement each other very well. Sometimes it’s a brilliant pick of his that gives us the win, sometimes it is one of my amazing choices.

Talk a little about your general atitude on-court..

I enjoy playing the game and just like to go out there and play. I appreciate players that are fair and sportsmanlike. Losses can be painful, but it does not take much to acknowledge that your opponent played well. I tend to stay away from some of the off-court drama going on.

What does your next outfit look like?

Stunning as usual. Ask Matt, he knows. Truth be told, that his next outfit is going to be amazing. Bethanie will have nothing on him.

Considering you've been playing this game for a looooong time, who are, for you, the best ever TT players in both singles and doubles?

There are so many great players out there, it’s hard to single just a few out and forget others. The ones that have been going strong for all these years and managed to stay on top are among the best ever. I will single out my doubles partner. He has provided quality for so long, he ranks high on the list of all time best TT players.

What do you think should be implemented in TT and taken out of it?

I like the recent ideas of using wildcards and SE spots in draws. Not sure if it will work, but it is worth a try. Otherwise I mostly do not have particularly strong feelings regarding rules. Sometimes they work for you, sometimes they don’t. It’s best to have rule discussions in the offseason, when these discussions are not influenced by occasions that a rule did not go your way. It is important though that a large majority of players support a rule. But when you happen to be in the minority there, just take your loss and enjoy the game, rather than bitching and moaning about it every chance you get.

First, congrats on reaching the finals of the US Open. This time we will make a different type of interview. We will make a few questions and we want you to give simple answers to those questions:

Your best match on run to the finals -
Extremaduratenis It was on round 16 against Inger67/rvugt, we won by 26-20. We played very well
sdtoot As always, our first round match was certainly difficult but our latest Semi Final match was probably our best match, where we had near perfect picks. OK we were never going to pick Kerber to beat Pennetta - that would have been too much of a risk to take.

Your worst match on run to the finals -
Extremaduratenis OK, it was on first round, we played against Golddfish/KeisukeHonda and we won on SRs. Now we are in final, but we could have lost on 1st round. We were lucky.
sdtoot Difficult to say. I think the fact that we are here in the final shows that we haven't had any really bad matches throughout the tournament.

Your best pick of the tournament -
Extremaduratenis Sorry, but don't remember.
sdtoot I can barely remember what picks I have made throughout the tournament but I seem to recall that King over Gajdosova and Peng over Goerges were key picks in our victories in the earlier rounds.

Your worst pick of the tournament -
Extremaduratenis Of course when we picked Kvitova anda Martinez Sanchez to win on first round.
sdtoot There are probably many but none stand out in particular. Niculescu to beat Kerber was probably my worse pick in our recent matches.

The main key for your success -
Extremaduratenis We have been playing for three years and now we know each other. I have plenty of confidence in Shaun. We send good picks and he never forgets to send. It's a great partner.
sdtoot With most of the doubles rounds being two days, it has been important to discuss our Day 2 picks to determine our strategy. Fortunately, we have been leading most of our matches after Day 1, so we have been able to split our picks in certain matches to defend our lead and force our opponents to take more risks. Also having a Spanish partner was particularly useful in the early rounds because I wasn't totally sure about some matches. Miguel was 100% confident that Suarez Navarro would easily beat Soler-Espinosa. :)

Do you like your opponent -
Extremaduratenis -
sdtoot Sorry who are we playing? I do seem to recall James and Matt being up at the top of the rankings in the distant past but I guess they must have been in retirement since then? I couldn't say that I dislike them but I do remember them acting like a couple of Divas when they were up near the top of the rankings. :tape:

Do you think your opponent deserves to be in the final -
Extremaduratenis Of course!! They have made a great run. Now it's time for them to lose against defending champions, but they deserve to be the finalists.
sdtoot They have come through some tough matches against some strong opponents so no doubt they deserve to be here and will be confident of taking the title. But hey we are the title holders here and the destiny of the title will be on our rackets. :p

Biggest surprise of the event -
Extremaduratenis Joe87/NyCPsU and Drake1980/* Jean* losing on second round.
sdtoot In doubles I was very surprised to see how many of the top ranked doubles teams went out in the second round. In singles, Curcubeu's run to the final (and SF victory over ALYOUNA) has been a big surprise, but this is not unusual in TT Grand Slam tournaments.

Biggest dissapointment of the event -
Extremaduratenis When Martinez Sanchez lost on 1st round. I think that girl can do such much better.
sdtoot For myself, it was losing my R1 singles match due to Doi's retirement (whilst losing 5-2 in the final set) against Pous-Tio.....I was totally gutted that day and just to rub salt in the wound, my R1 opponent couldn't be bothered to send picks for R2 the next day.

Do you think retirements should count -
Extremaduratenis Of course!!!! If your player is winning 6-2, 5-1 and her opponent retires, isn't it a win? Retirements are part of the game. So I can't understand why they don't count.
sdtoot Yes they should and I strongly believe that they should count after the first point has been played in the match. This is the rule on MTF TT and hardly anyone ever complains about the retirement rule.

Do you think there should be a rule for sending picks -
Extremaduratenis What kind of rule? Maybe that we have to RESPECT manager's deadline. If not we'll have problems and the Board will have to choose the winner.
sdtoot No. I think penalising players for sending picks in the wrong format is just one step too far.

Did you like the management of the event -
Extremaduratenis Of course, they live at Portugal and I like Portugal so much. And, of course, they do it perfect, great managers!!
sdtoot Of course we are very fortunate to have two of the best TT managers on TennisForum for this tournament and the management throughout this tournament has been flawless as always. :worship:

What did you like most of the tournament -
Extremaduratenis That Nadal completed his Career Grand Slam there ;). To say the true, it is the Grand Slam I like less...
sdtoot The player interviews has been a nice addition to the game and many of them have been great to read.

Name the 8 players you think will get to the YEC... -
Extremaduratenis ALYOUNA, Uncle Jason, jasonchou, Bennyko, Jose., extremaduratenis, Michael! and Sdtoot
sdtoot I think the 8 doubles pairs who are at the top of the Race rankings after this event will have a very strong chance of making it to the YEC's. Hopefully we will be one of those 8 teams. I can't be bothered naming specific teams but they know who they are.

Share whatever you want with the TT world... -
Extremaduratenis Well, go on playing that wonderful game. And thanks for the work of so many people that manager tournaments.
sdtoot I haven't made this public before now, but my job situation will change significantly at the end of this year, meaning that I will have to do a lot of overseas travelling during the working week. I am conscious that my children are growing up very quickly and the time I spend with them is very precious, so I am not sure if I will have sufficient time to play the games on the forum from next year. This could well be my last ever TT Grand Slam appearance.

Good luck to all the finalists.
Shaun :wavey:

Entry Lists Ranking: 70

Medium rank of players he beat: 53,5
Cumulative number of correct picks: 87 winners + 27 SRs
Awards received during the tournament: R4 - Match of the Round + Upset of the Round; QF - Serena Williams Award + Upset of the Round; SF - Serena Williams Award + Upset of the Round
Courts he has played in: Arthur Ashe Stadium - 2; Louis Armstrong Stadium - 1 time; times; Grandstand - 1 time; Court 13 - 1 time; Court 17 - 1 time

First, congrats on reaching the finals of the US Open. This time we will make a different type of interview. We will make a few questions and we want you to give simple answers to those questions:

Your best match on run to the finals - Definitely the semifinal against ALYOUNA. When we met for the first time in the second round of the French Open this year, I didn't stand any chance at all. This time I learned my lesson and won by 3 correct picks, all with the right SR! :)

Your worst match on run to the finals - I was actually very consistent and happy with my performances in general. Only the first day of my 3rd round match was disappointing, but I was able to turn it around in the end! :yeah:

Your best pick of the tournament - Kerber over Pennetta without a doubt. Though I have to admit that it was actually more of a jinx pick for some Pennetta fans I know because some of my favourite players lost in the rounds before after I took them! :rolls:

Your worst pick of the tournament - No answer

The main key for your success - I feel no pressure at all because I used to be the underdog in nearly all of my matches. I try to mix up my picks between NID matches and some risky bets after checking the latest results of the players and it payed off so far. :)

Do you like your opponent - Of course I like Jean! I actually haven't exchanged a word with him so far, but we are both very active on this board and passionate TT players! We should go along very well together! ;)

Do you think your opponent deserves to be in the final - Of course he does. We are talking about a slam final and all finalists deserve their place in the final after winning six matches in a row against a great variety of opponents! Jean played a good season so far and he is the 12th best player of the world! It was only about time for hime!

Biggest surprise of the event - I was quite surprised that only one seeded player in my quarter survived the first round! It favoured me a lot in view of my great run here!

Biggest dissapointment of the event - I forgot to send for the doubles qualifying when I was still occupied with the final of the 50k ITF in Istanbul. I will take use of this interview to say sorry to Gaspa again for my stupidity!

Do you think retirements should count - That's a very tough question and I observed the hot discussions about this topic in here! But I personally would rather say "yes" because a winner is a winner, no matter if through retirement or not.

Do you think there should be a rule for sending picks - I personally don't think so, but it's easy to say if you are not hosting TT tournaments! :o

Did you like the management of the event - It was a great tournament and both hosts, Jose and Rui, were great tournament managers for the last 2 weeks, even if the weather tried hard to mess it up! we could always rely on the OOPs and I personally liked the idea of the interviews! :D

What did you like most of the tournament - As I've already said, I liked the idea of the interviews a lot! They brought some variety into the event and it helped me as a relatively new TT player to get to know the Who is Who of the TT world! :yeah:

Name the 8 players you think will get to the YEC... - ALYOUNA, Uncle Jason, jasonchou, Bennyko, Michael!, Jose and *Jean*

Share whatever you want with the TT world... - I'm saying thank you to all my new supporters and opponents for the exciting matches. I'm ready to write my name into the history books of TT, and that after I was so close of getting disqualified for sending too late in R1! Let's hope this tournament won't stay a fluke in my career!

But now I am just looking forward to play the final! Good luck, *Jean*! It's time for a European again to win a slam! :hi5:

First, congrats on reaching the finals of the US Open. This time we will make a different type of interview. We will make a few questions and we want you to give simple answers to those questions:

Your best match on run to the finals - my SF win over Michael

Your worst match on run to the finals - my R2 match

Your best pick of the tournament - my 2-0 picks' strategy

Your worst pick of the tournament - Zvonareva over Stosur

The main key for your success - not thinking about picks, just sending PMs in less than a full minute. It obviously works.

Do you like your opponent - I never look at the draws.

Do you think your opponent deserves to be in the final - Certainly, but I hope he/she'll lose the next round

Biggest surprise of the event - Drake & I losing in R2 in doubles

Biggest dissapointment of the event - see above

Do you think retirements should count - N.O.

Do you think there should be a rule for sending picks - not sure how the board would rule how to send picks. If you're thinking about format, so yes, but managers are far from being perfect in the creation of OOP.

Did you like the management of the event - yeah, Portugal rules. For once, they are not at the center of attention because of the fact that they are the next Greece. BANKRUPCY.

What did you like most of the tournament - Bennyko proving himself being the Wozniacki of TT : no talent, big mouth.

Name the 8 players you think will get to the YEC... - ME, I and Myself. Drake I hope. Michael would deserve it, and a handful of Chinese, of course.

Share whatever you want with the TT world... - Today (9 September) I will teach American Litterature to 1st year students at the University of Provence = I haven't slept for 4 days.

First, congrats on reaching the finals of the US Open. This time we will make a different type of interview. We will make a few questions and we want you to give simple answers to those questions:

Your best match on run to the finals -
James Round 32 against Kasia Q. I made the critical difference there after day 1.
MH0861 I would say the Semi-Finals. We didn't have the best score, but it ended up being a straightforward win against a very tough team. We handled the pressure really well.

Your worst match on run to the finals -
James My first round. Not really a great start, but still a win.
MH0861 I don't think we played badly, but probably the R32 match, it was close.

Your best pick of the tournament -
James Pavlyuchenkova over Jankovic
MH0861 Stosur over Zvonareva. It really set the tone for the Semifinals.

Your worst pick of the tournament -
James Zvonareva over Stosur
MH0861 Oh, I've had plenty. I will say Parmentier over Amanmuradova, because it cost me my singles match.

The main key for your success -
James Good teamwork and experience
MH0861 Communication. James and I each like to take risks, and we were able calculate them well between each other in each match. We each had some key picks at different times.

Do you like your opponent -
James Yes
MH0861 Yes, they are highly ranked doubles players who each do a lot for the game.

Do you think your opponent deserves to be in the final -
James Yes. They are a very solid team.
MH0861 I definitely do. They are the defending champions and play really well in New York.

Biggest surprise of the event -
James Curcubeu making the final. Always nice to see new players achieve something big.
MH0861 It was nice to see a LL team reach the Semifinals in doubles.

Biggest dissapointment of the event -
James Early loss for the top seed. He's had two fantastic years in 2009 and 2010 though. It is hard to match that.
MH0861 I think the USA could've had a better showing, but I think the Americans will bounce back soon enough.

Do you think retirements should count -
James Yes. I think the current rule is ok.
MH0861 Yes.

Do you think there should be a rule for sending picks -
James Not sure. It can be hard for managers to have people send in a wrong format. But it would be a bit harsh to fully exclude someone from playing.
MH0861 I don't think I understand this question  If you mean with respect to deadlines, yes.

Did you like the management of the event -
James Yes, I did. Both managers did a great job. Running a GS isn't easy.
MH0861 Absolutely :worship: It was wonderful, both Jose. And Rui. did a great job.

What did you like most of the tournament -
James The atmosphere.
MH0861 The Awards :D

Name the 8 players you think will get to the YEC... -
James Alyouna, Jasonchou, Bennyko, Uncle Jason, Extremaduratennis, Michael! , Jose. , Hele.
MH0861 The current Top 8 in the Race.

Share whatever you want with the TT world... -
James Always play fair, kids.
MH0861 If I don't win this title I'm going to shove this f***** tennis ball down your throat :D

You're nice guys really - I just thought I'd add a bit of spice to try to fill the stadium for the final. Good luck to you both today. :worship:

Congrats to Jean and Extremaduratenis/sdtoot :worship: You both won on TB2, with one set score (6-4) in wrong order.

Curcubeu and James/MH0861, really a great run and I guess it must be awful to lose on TBs

Thanks everyone for playing the tournament and for answering to the interviews, posting in the thread and being active. Hope you liked all we have done. Also thanks Rui for running the tournament with me.

Wow didn't expect that result. Sorry to Eddy/Matt - that is a cruel way to lose in a GS Final and not the way I would have liked us to win.

Final big thanks to Miguel - you are a great partner and Champion. :yeah:
