I heard something like this by the commentator of the Petkovic-Gajdosova match.. she must have injured during practice.

KDK is out (hand injury) replaced by Arvidsson.
@dougrobson
Date-Krumm just withdrew with hand injury, replaced by Arvidsson. #cincytennis

Kimiko and Monica are (along with MJMS) my two favourite players in the draw so I wasn't terribly happy to see them drawn together, but at least I was able to console myself with the thought that "oh well, at least one of them will win a main draw match now." Now I can't even be sure of that and I don't know how serious Kimiko's injury is. Damn.

Kimiko is so unlucky. :bigcry:

Poor Kimiko...
Apparently it is a left hand injury... Quite weird but at least it should not be too serious.... It is just too bad it happened at a tournament where she - finally... - got a rather good draw. We will see very soon if she will be able to play in Dallas next week, but hopefully it is not too worrying.

They should have give Kimiko WC not Ayumi.
Ayumi could get in anyway and Kimiko waited 3days for nothing being LL ALT#1 last week.

To be in Q, 2 weeks in a row is hard for 40yo woman.
US series never gave Kimiko a WC even though she was a champion from 1996 San Diego.
Even WIMBY once gave her...

Still no news about Kimiko's injury, even on her blog that is usually daily updated... This begins to be worrying, moreover she is no more on the players' list for next week Texas Open... What's happening there ??? :scared:

Kimiko Date-Krumm made it through the qualification in Cincinnati and then had to withdraw as she fell in the bath and injured her left arm.., she seems to be out of competition for 4-6 weeks..

I thought that sort of thing only happens to old people? Oh wait...

That's a pity for Kimiko, I guess that means no US open for her? :(

My goodness... :banghead: Anyway, thanks for the news. At least, we know what happened now.

This is however really, really unfortunate. So it means no Texas Open and no US Open where she could have grab some valuable ranking points. Let's hope she will be ready for the Asian swing starting in five weeks in Seoul...

All the best for a quick recovery, Kimiko !

Kimiko's staff finally updated her blog. They said that, due to "carelessness", Kimiko has a sprained left hand, and a crack in the bone between her little finger and the top of her hand. They say she is currently in NY working with doctors to see if there is any way she can compete in the US Open.
