Q:Long time no see. How are you doing?
Y:I'm fine thanks, especially since I just arrvied from Beijing, where I grabbed Singles and Doubles trophy.
Q:Congrats, it must feel great to win a title that quickly after your return.
Y:It definetely does. I spent a lot of time in Beijing throughout the last year. Moreover I am always emotional playing there, since my first successful steps on the tour happened to be in Beijing. I can't believe it's almost been six years since then.
Q:Did you do anything different last week?
Y:No. Actually I came in with no special gameplan for any match. Currently I'm in a state, where I just try different things and figue out, what I have to improve. I played pretty well throughout the week, but more important I was very consistent and calm in each and every match. It seems as though I have matured a bit over the last year.
Q:Speaking of last year, what have you been up to?
Y:After that horrible loss in Wimbledon, I returned to Doha for a few days, before I headed to Taipeh. I signed a contract with a tennis academy, where I teach the smallest children. It has been great fun. At times some pros, especially males, showed up and usually I had a hit with them. It was a relaxing atmosphere there
Q:That sounds great. Why did you return then?
Y:Of course, the desire for my own tennis never died and I felt better and better in those hitting sessions. I also watched Wimbledon and i was determined to compete again! Furthermore my contract was about to expire. They asked, if I wished to extend, but I turned down. I flew to Europe to play some smaller Clay Court tournaments.
Q:However you had a break of two weeks before Beijing. Why did you do that?
Y:I still had a few commitments. The partnership with the academy will end after Taipeh! Then I will fly to Cincinnati, where I received a wildcard. *smiles* I am really thankful! I hope to play a full schedule from now on!
Q:So in which shape do you believe you are currently in?
Y:I feel good right now and that is most important. Success will come and go. I will just compete and see what happens.
Q:How dou you rate the importance of Doubles? You have been quite successful in Doubles so far. You already won a WTA and an ITF title in those few weeks.
Y:I'm still glad Cornelia and Stefania decided to play with me. I really like Doubles, because different aspects of the game are on spot. It may even help you to improve parts of your Singles game! Usually you also have a lot of fun with your partner.
du Preez and Mori-Tu shown in their press conference after taking Bastad title.
Q:Any partner for this week?
Y:Not yet. I may play with Alina Patersson. We have played with each other before and I know her for a while already. Stefania is also in the draw, so I may join her again. We will see!
Q:Has the tour changed a lot in the past couple of years?
Y:Definetely! There are always new players coming up and lots of old players take a break. But lately it looks as though comebacks are the latest trend
Q:Six years ago you joined FWTT. Do you consider yourself a veteran?
Y:Partly. Yet I never showed as much commitment as other girls did. Sometimes I just lacked ambition and drive.
Q:Have you set any expectations for this week?
Y:Nope, I just hope to play a good match here. It is great to play a tournament in my hometown and the city, where I held an exhibition a few years ago.
Q:Thanks a lot for your time and all the best for this week!

"Onto a new career"
Yanet and Alina posing with their thophies.
Q:Long time no see, Yanet!
Y:Yes. Haha *smiles*
Q:So you said, you had no expectations regarding this week and yet you did fairly well again. Must feel great, right?Y:Definetely. Winning a Doubles title at home feels great. Especially since Alina and I played before and never won any kind of title, it feels even greater that it happened in my hometown.
Q:What about your Singles result?
Y:I am happy to have won two matches. The match against Alina was great and Annalisa played very well to beat me. It was fun playing in Taipeih and I really enjoyed it. I may try to return next year!
Q:You have been away from the tour for quite some time. Now you return to the US for the first time in over 16 months. How do you feel?
Y:It was very emotional leaving this all behind me. I spent a great year here and in Beijing and I will definetely return in the off-season. But for now I want to open a new chapter of my own career and I am looking forward to my return to the US.
Q:What about Doubles next week?
Y:I approached Nadia (Banaszek) and asked her to play with me. I have yet to receive an answer. She was one of the few players I always wanted to play with within the past couple of years. I also got a request from Cornelia (du Preez), but I had to turn her down at first. I will see how this all turns out. I am fine playing with anybody.
Q:I guess you will leave soon?
Y:Yup. My flight leaves in 2 hours.
Q:Then I don't want to force you to stay any longer. Good Luck in Cincy!
Y:Haha. Was a pleasure. Thanks
