Can Garbi get to the main draw if there's any withdrawal from MD players or shall she play the qualies no matter what happens????
Thanks in advance :wavey:

She will be in qualifying.

WTA ranking of 351 is only good enough for qualifying. And her junior ranking is only 616.

Despina in qualies
Maybe this time she will actually play since she withdrew from RG and WI

Probably a good move on Lauren's part to leave juniors behind. Anything short of a win would just be a confidence blow.

As much as I love Daria, with her current form, I'm even a little worried she may lose in R1. My prediction is that Yulia will follow in Ons's footsteps and finally upgrade from bride's maid 2010 to champion 2011 :)

^ expected. why does she even enter? :o
She withdrew from RG,Wimbledon and now USO. :o

She keeps getting my hopes up for nothing :o
She better show up at some ITFs now and end the year in the top 300! :armed:

MDWC:

Sachia Vickery
Taylor Townsend
Krista Hardebeck
Allie Kiick
Samantha Crawford
Hayley Carter
Liz Jeukeng
Peggy Porter

I'd be shocked if the USA doesn't have multiple players reaching QFs (or later).

USO is always the best junior slam IMO. Best WCs which leads to tons of dangerous unseeded players. Aside from Peggy Porter I feel like all of those girls have the ability to win a couple matches and then we also have Keys, Duval, Andrews, etc. in MD on their own ranking. Can't wait!

juki
Aug 19th, 2011, 11:51 PM
Sharipova, Skamlova both out. I'm thinking not many Europeans are going to make the trek just to play qualies.

Also QWC: Jennifer Brady, Catherine Harrison, Hannah King, Jamie Loeb, Denise Starr, Yuki Ito (Japanese high school champion)

Not sure why they named Hannah King as a QWC, she gets in on her own ranking with Kiick and Hardebeck moving into MD. Hopefully the USTA realizes this

Maciejewska won't play. She will play a junior league in Poland and then G2 in Prague.

The Deheza twins are playing the Open because they want to get into a US college. It's a pretty good tournament to have in your tennis resume and a way of showing yourself to a possible talent hunter. Maybe that explains the fact that it's usually a packed field.

Kolar, Jaksic, Tomova, Butkovska, De Bernardi, and Maciejewska OUT

I guess Nastja is completely done with juniors then?
Allie Kiick gets directly in freeing up another WC

1st quarter is just ridiculous  No clue who will come through; Garcia, Vickery, Kontaveit, Keys, Abanda, Duval, Kiick.
It won't be Gavrilova though :oh:

2nd quarter should be Barty or Beck I'm guessing. Not sure Andrews or Hardabeck are in form to pull upsets.

3rd quarter is interesting with Bouchard, Townsend and Gibbs in the same section. Putintseva has a nice draw...

Indy has a nice draw to reach QF, Irina v Pegula should be good. Maybe US WCs Carter or King can surprise?

I hope whoever makes it out of the 1st quarter wins it, its just brutal :o

Some exciting potential match ups

*Keys v Abanda possible 2nd round
*Barty v Faith Andrews possible 2nd round
*Beck v Kostic/Hardebeck possible 3rd round
*Putintseva V Vekic possible 3rd round
*Townsend v Maleckova 1st round

Shame the overall quality of the field has been decimated by the pull outs though.

Another early exit for Dasha is looming. She shouldn't play this tourney at all. Now I only hope that she will scrap past Duval at least.
First quarter is tough as hell really.

Hope Yulia will go far here. She has a very good draw.
As for Irina, I'm a bit worried about her first match. But not a bad draw at all.

Epic. Kyle led the 3rd set 5-0. After winning 5 straight games Elena-Teodora lost her serve. Kyle served for the match again and lost it. Kyle led the tiebreak 6-4 before Elena came back for the final time. Kyle would have been crushed if she lost this one, I'm not sure how many MPs she wasted before finally winning. This is definitely the best chance USA has at a junior slam since '08 when we had 3/4 of the semifinalists. Hope they can step up and one of them will take it. Would be a great showing for such a promising group of girls.

Taylor Townsend is extremely talented. I watched her first round match today and she has an awesome forehand, the ability to volley and an impressive serve. If she just improves her fitness a little bit she will have a great future on the pro tour. Maleckova was solid and a seeded player but there was no doubt who was the better player and who will likely have the better career.

There are so many good young Americans right now, it's really exciting. It's too bad that Madison, Victoria, and Sachia are all stuck up in that brutal quarter with Caroline because I think they all have the potential to do major damage in this draw.

It is always really up in the air whether they decide to air it or not. Apparently Tennis Channel showed the U. Radwanska v. Kucova final. And I remember a couple of years ago watching Stephens/Burdette playing junior doubles, and last year Anderson v. Robson was streamed. I think both semis of the boys singles were streamed a couple of years ago (I think the year Tomic won). I don't know why they just don't leave the court cameras on. It's kind of ridiculous.

juki
Sep 5th, 2011, 05:05 PM
Last year, the boys final (Sock v Kudla) was shown, and there was a good deal of hype about it because of Sock and it being an all-American final. I would assume that if Keys or Townsend (who now has a bit of hype) reached the final Tennis Channel would broadcast it. Or any American player hopefully. But yeah, there is no pattern to Tennis Channel's decision making.

Wimbledon is definitely the best slam when it comes to showing juniors.

Really interesting now. Each match could go either way I think.

I'm predicting Caroline v Krista and Yulia v Grace for the semis.

Though Ellen has really played well this week based on her scores.

Wait, can somebody tell me why Gibbs was a qualifier when she was RU in the Girls' 18 Nats and Krista is a wc and she was 3rd place?

Kevin.
Sep 9th, 2011, 06:53 AM
entries were based on ITF Jr ranking. Gibbs was like 1440 and Krista got in on her WTA ranking,

Meelis
Sep 9th, 2011, 09:12 AM
Juniors ranking inside top 74 or WTA ranking inside top 350 was needed for the direct main draw entry.

juki
Sep 9th, 2011, 02:53 PM
Actually, Krista is listed as a WC on on the printable draw. After Kiick entered MD on her own ranking USTA had another WC to give, and it seems they gave it to Krista to free up another direct entry getting in.
