I think I saw some article mentioning that Wynne Prakusya was undergoing some physiotherapy.

Would anyone have more information on this (for what, where, for how long...)?

It would be a pitty Wynne be injured at the beginning of the season.

Thanks for the tip, The Pea Here it is :

Thanks for your additional translation PatPat. And your English is excellent.
I understand now why Wynne seems sometimes a bit stiff, if she has had a back injury.
I feel however she would need to see an osteopath and not a physiotherapist for what she has.

I think Wynne is a good player..but not good enough to join in top 30. For indonesian tennis, bigger hope will go to angie.
it seems to me that u (steveg) is wynne's fans. you wrote about wynne in sanexwtatour also. I like ur comments.

Thanks for your comments PatPat, even if we disagree on the potential of the two top Indonesian players .

But it is only a question of personal appreciation.

I have seen both play on a few occasions :

- Wynne : ITF Hochiminh City (2000, 2001), Tier IV Pattaya (2001)
- Angelique : ITF Hochiminh City (2001), Tier IV Pattaya (2001)

I could however not see many matches of Angelique, as she lost quite quickly on both occasions .

And you PatPat, have you had the opportunity to see them play at any tournament, like the WTA Bali in 2001 or any previous tourney?

i have seen several matches of angie and wynne.i saw angie in wismilak, bali(vs Tammy and vs su-wei and vs Krueger). but i didnt watch wynne, i watch her match vs romana tedjakusuma (video record)in sea games final, and she dissapointed me. All of wynne and angie matches that i saw was took place in indonesia. unfortunately, wynne played just a few matches in indonesia for the last few years. but i always follow her carier in tennis. maybe you right that wynne plays tennis much better now. but i think she dont show a good result yet. hope 2002 will be better for her and also for angie.

Interesting that you saw the final of the SEA Games as the result came as a real surprise to me.

How did both Wynne and Tedjakusuma play during the final?

wow, i wonder that u(steveg) give big attention to my reply. actually i didnt watch all of the match. it is just a record of few games.my friend got the record from his friend from jakarta.I dont know how to tell u about the game coz i think i am not as well as u guys judging a tennis match. But let me try. their tennis look same to me. moon ball from baseline.but Romana control the match, then she won 7-5,6-2.i wasn't surprise with that result.Romana is a good player.it was a big mistake that she left tennis years ago. she was in top 100.now it is hard 4 her to make a good comeback.she will 26 yo in 2002, and she has no sponsor to cost her tourney.
wynne lost many matches from many lower player than her. she didnt get good result in ho chi minh city (seed 1), also in asian champ. then in fed cup vs austria, angie and romana gave a better result then her.she can join in top 100 coz in 2000 she won a tourney in Utah(us$ 75000), and in 2001 that turnamnet was not held anymore. it was give her big point. I Think wynne is agood player, but angie and romana better than her. have u ever watch romana's match?she played in ho ci minh. both wynne and romana lost to the same player in that ocassion.
i like wynne, angie, and romana.coz they are indonesian stars in tennis. i hope they will get good result in 2002.

PatPat, thanks for your interesting match report.

As for Wynne, though she was really not in shape, she managed to limit the loss of WTA points by reaching the semi-final.

She had however confirmed her air-ticket to Korea for the next day... before playing the semi. She had actually no intention to stay any longer in Hochiminh City and wanted to get ready for the Korean event (USD 50,000). She certainly could have won the match but was not upto it. It was extremely clear during the match.

Regarding Wynne performance in 2001, she actually lost a lot of points in 2001 because this ITF tournament was not held anymore. Nevertheless, she broke in the top 100 after good results in a few WTA tourneys in North America.

Last year, Wynne had difficulties to get in the main draw of WTA tourneys. This year, she passed the qualies well (Roland Garros : LL, Wimbledon : 3 victories in the qualies before losing to Tauziat, US Open : first victory in the main draw of a Grand Slam event).

I guess this year she will be working on her consistency so as to be able to win a couple (or more) of main draw matches in major events.

It is all in her mind.
