In her first match on a hard court in more than a month, Samantha Soren dominated her 1st round opponent. The 7th seed Benedetti looked sluggish and completely out classed by the Canadian who is coming off a semi final showing on the Austrian clay courts last week.
"It was weird practicing yesterday on hard courts again after being on grass and clay for the past month but I love hard courts and it felt like home. My forehand really penetrated through the court and once I felt good with that I had no problems."
In the 2nd round, Soren plays Athea Kane.

Congrats!

And please don't feel offened, but I don't think this is ok. I sent in points days ok, knowing I'm playing someone else. I know that Mayou is a computer player, but I'm always looking ahead of the draw (drawing Hubeere in a possible 2# round for example). And I always consider my head-to-head with a certain player and I would have sent in different points if I knew earlier that I was playing you!

You're right. It didn't occur to me that some people put so much thought into their points, seeing I myself hardly ever do so. It wasn't my intention of entering so late, but I just came across the FWTT forum and thought it'd be fun to see if there was a still a spot open. I didn't mean to take advantage of the deadline. I'll make sure to enter on time from now on, so situations like these can be avoided. Again, apologies.

It's ok. It would have been nice just to let me know that things changed (not you, but Josh maybe), but I woke up this morning and saw what happened. It would have been nice just to give me a couple of hours if I wanted to change my points.

Anyway, Elise, I think you're great player and it's great to have you back on the game, seeing how successful you have been before and it would be terrible if you wouldn't have been back playing the game. :D

Another week, another final. Four years ago that would have been unthinkable for Samantha Soren, but now it's almost expected of her.
She didn't let the expectations over crowd her in her semi final match against Alexandra Anastadis as she won 6-3 7-6 and has moved onto her 5th singles final of the year and is searching for her 3rd title of the year as well.
"I read that I had like the 6th or 7th best winning percentage of the year and I was amazed by it. Right now I want to get to as many finals and grab as many titles as I can because I don't know how long this great run is going to continue."
The veteran Ruflina Taliamanosoko will be her opponent in the final.

Does that means we have same points but lost the tiebreaker because we're the lower ranked team? :timebomb:

Ah well, we will get them eventually ;)
I go by surface preference first (which Jennifer and I had hard as our first choice) and then if that's the same, whichever team has the higher ranking.

Sorry

Ruflina Taliamanosoko was just too good in the clutch moments in the final of Baku today. Ruflina defeated Samantha Soren in two straight tie-breakers and showed what a champion she is.
"I wanted to win this match really badly, you don't get many opportunities to win a title so this will hurt a little bit. I'll have to get on another plane and travel to North America and play the US Open Series there. I'm extremely pleased on what I've been able to do and I hope to continue it on another continent."
Soren's next tournament is not going to be in Stanford but will be in Elkridge.
"When I commited I wanted to get as many match wins as possible and I thought I could only get that in an international tournament. Now I think back and I wished I had commited to Stanford because now I have the confidence that I can beat the best."
