Great decision to start a thread! :D
Misa has improved so much this year, I'm quite surprised.

Some pictures of the two from Bangkok:

Caceres R1
(7)Misa Eguchi (JPN) v Constance Sibille (FRA)

Jul 13th, 2011, 10:41 PM
(7)Misa Eguchi (JPN) d. Constance Sibille (FRA) 64 46 76(10)

I wonder if she saved any match points in that final set tiebreak.

Hopefully she won't be too tired tomorrow.

Jul 13th, 2011, 10:44 PM
If I understand correctly from her twitter, she was down 2-5 in the final set and thought the match was over but kept fighting. :worship:

Misa lost in the second round to Garbine. Still a nice week for her, nonetheless.

Jul 15th, 2011, 10:03 PM
A 3 set loss to Garbine is not a bad result at all, especially coming the day after her marathon against Sibille.

Good luck next week Misa :)
And Akiko is playing in Spain next week also :D

Jul 18th, 2011, 11:42 PM
Garbine ended up winning Caceres, so a nice effort from Misa last week.

La Coruna
R1 - Akiko Omae (JPN) vs (Q)
R1 - Misa Eguchi (JPN) vs (4) Alize Lim (FRA)

Tough opener for Misa. :scared:

Jul 19th, 2011, 06:55 PM
Misa Eguchi (JPN) d. (4)Alize Lim (FRA) 7-5 6-2 :yeah:
Akiko Omae (JPN) vs (Q)Constance Sibille (FRA)

Very nice win for Misa. I think Akiko should get through her match comfortably as well :)

Jul 19th, 2011, 07:07 PM
Misa :woohoo:

I'm so surprised at her improvement this year, the last few years she had pretty poor results. I'm not complaining though.

Vigo QR2
Marina GIRAL LORES (VEN) defeated Akiko OMAE (JPN) (1) 6-2 2-6 6-4

This trip to Spain has been pretty disappointing for Akiko :(

Jul 25th, 2011, 09:29 PM
Vigo R1
(4)Naomi Broady (GBR) v Misa Eguchi (JPN)

Quite a tough one for Misa. However, Naomi lost in straights to Garbine Muguraza-Blanco in Wrexham last week who beat Misa in three sets the week before.

Good luck Misa  :D

Jul 26th, 2011, 08:22 PM
Vigo R1
Misa Eguchi (JPN) def. (4) Naomi Broady (GBR) 6-3 6-4 :yeah:

Aranxa Salut (ARG) next.

Jul 27th, 2011, 02:36 AM
Misa :yeah: Very solid win, should be the fav against Salut :D

Jul 28th, 2011, 08:06 PM
Vigo R2
Misa Eguchi (JPN) d. Aranza Salut (ARG) 62 57 61

Now plays Koehler, who double bagelled her opponent today. :scared:

Jul 28th, 2011, 09:53 PM
Misa :bounce: Koehler is a very good player, but weak mentally. If Misa keeps fighting to the end she could have a chance :)

Jul 29th, 2011, 07:54 PM
Misa beat Koehler in 2 sets :yeah: So solid :) Now play Iryna Bremond :scared:

Jul 29th, 2011, 07:55 PM
Vigo Quarter Final
Misa EGUCHI (JPN) defeated Maria Joao KOEHLER (POR) (6) 7-6(5) 6-4

Wow  Next up is Iryna Bremond. Very likely the road will come to an end, but a great experience it will be for Misa to play a player of that calibre. I think she's the highest player Misa might have ever played?

Jul 30th, 2011, 06:01 PM
Vigo Semi Final
(1) Iryna Bremond (FRA) def. Misa Eguchi (JPN) 7-5 6-3

A pretty encouraging scoreline I think. Best of luck wherever Misa plays next, I can't believe how much she has improved!

Jul 30th, 2011, 09:48 PM
Fantastic week for Misa :) She has played a lot of tennis lately, so I hope she has time off and can be 100% in form for the busy fall Asian season. I have no idea what a good year end ranking goal could be for Misa? 250? Its crazy how realistic that seems considering where she started the year

Jul 30th, 2011, 10:05 PM
I agree :D Top 250 seems quite feasible at the moment. This Autumn will be interesting for Misa, hopefully she can combine some of the WTA qualifying events in Asia as well as the Asian Challengers which will help boost her ranking even more.

It's a pity Akiko's Spanish tour didn't go as well. But she still has plenty of time and just needs to work on her consistency.

Any comment about their style of game?

Sep 9th, 2011, 05:49 AM
Both Akiko and Misa are having great weeks!

Akiko has reached the semis of 25k Alice Springs, while Misa is into the semis of 25K Noto. Misa has a great chance to win the tournament now I think! Good luck to both :bounce:
