You can request a player forum in this thread.

Please consider the following information before making your request:

- we don't base new player forums on votes alone.

- we won't create loads of player forums at a time, there's just no way, so there is absolutely no point in voting for loads of forums.

- we look at current thread activity and posters and such, so there's no point in voting for a forum you won't post in.

This thread starts from a clean slate and all previous requests are being disregarded so you will have to vote again.

We will next consider creating any player forums in the offseason 2014.

Africa should have one... It probably won't be the most active, but it seems fair as its an entire continent, and tennis is growing (slowly) there.Agreed.

It's indeed elitist and racist of Tennisforum to allow "Latin America" and "Asia" and Ociania ("Aus-NZ") but refuse to create "Africa" section. In fact the section "rest of the world" is a misnomer because it basically refers to Africa and the small European states that don't have a separate section.

So in fact there might as well not be a new Africa section but the "rest of the world" renamed into "Africa" and the tiny few remaining forum-less small European countries moved out of there and distributed to their neighbors who already have separate sections (for example Ireland should be added to the UK section, Luxembourg added to the Belgium section, Cyprus and Macedonia to the Greek section (or if the Greek start bitching and moaning about 'there is only one Macedonia' then open a separate "Balkan" section and throw the lot there with the Albanians and so forth...

Greece and FYROM have nothing in common :spit:
Cyprus is fine, but we don't want FYROM in our forum, and ask any poster from FYROM (SM, Mr.Hide) and they won't want to be in our forum

Just because we neighbor them doesn't mean we have anything in common . Scandinavian forum, Baltic forum, Latin American forum, etc. is okay because they have stuff in common and are also often grouped together ;)

It's like creating a forum for players from Italy and Slovenia just because they share a border ;)

First the first time, I walked into Player Forums and I was shocked to find there is no India section at all!

Why Tennis India ?

Just like Cricket, India is one of the oldest nations on this planet to play Tennis (more 120 years ago). Example:

In Davis Cup ties between 1921 to 1929 India beat among others France, Romania, Holland, Belgium. Spain and Greece:
http://www.aitatennis.com/New%20AITA/about.html

Also, Indian players are well known and won good number of Grand Slams:
=> Leander won 6 Doubles & 6 Mixed Doubles slams
=> Indians in Men's Doubles were World #1
=> Indians in Mixed Doubles have won decent number of Grand Slams too
=> Or, take from Vijay Amritraj to the latest Somdev (who played against Andy Murray in the 2011 US Open?).

It's apparent that India has achieved respectable results from the Asia perspective (at least), but I concede that on Singles front it might take a few more years :)

This is womens tennis forum.
Point taken, but I didn't see Womens only content on this forum. Alright. Let me cite Sania Mirza who was the first Indian woman to win a Grand Slam, also I think she was a runner up in couple of Slams.

You cant expect to get Indian Subforum here only because Paes won a slam.
Won a Slam? Read once again. And, how about Mahesh? He too won more than 10 Grand Slams in Doubles & Mixed-Doubles! Fact is, Indian players won more than 20 Grand Slams but they are Males so I can't back my request if Womens only is the absolute criteria :)

I don't deny it, read this one:

Indian women's tennis is a one woman show and the country is far from producing another genuine world beater, says multiple Grand Slam champion Mahesh Bhupathi.

I'm not a fan of any present Tennis player. My point was Indians have achieved respectable results in the Tennis world, but honestly I didn't know that this players forum is meant for Women's Only. Having said that, I'm sure Sania has better achievements compared to some players in that forum list. Now, do you agree with me?

Here are a few Indian Women:

Shikha Uberoi
Nirupama Vaidyanathan
Rushmi Chakravarthi
Sania Mirza
Bambri sisters

Google result:

Nirupama Mankad won the Asian Women's tennis championship in 1965 at the age of 17. She played Wimbledon junior event in 1965 and partnered Anand Amritraj in the mixed doubles event in 1971, reaching the second round. She was India's top ranked tennis player between 1965 and 1978

It's apparent that you couldn't differentiate the fine line between a deliberation and an argument!

Honestly, I find it incredibly unbelievable to see there was hardly any effort at least to acknowledge the talent and achievements of Indian women in form of a virtual forum section! Such a response is even worse than the ignorant/arrogant Indian Sports Authorities because at least they do little in real by honoring those players.

Hope my concern is understood, and now I won't lose my sleep over it

Mirza and Wozniak are great players with many fans. Kanepi is a great player but her thread was always very inactive. Although recently its been getting more active and sheet finally reached 1,000 posts, but unfortunately that may not be enough for a subforum just yet ;)

I know not all of them I meant a vast majority. Also the estonian ones are the only active ones besides jelena ostapenko. There are really only 12 threads that will ever be used and they are the most recently updated ones besides go maret. All except 2 are estonian. Also, all the rising players besides ostapenko are estonian (or atleast the rising ones that are commented on). By the way, is there a way to delete threads that are never used as there are some tournament threads that havent been updated in over 3 years and are useless

Kazakhstan, Portugal and Denmark all deserve suforums. Now that they are buying their players, Kazakhstan is good and Georgia is developing nicely. As for Portugal, 3 girls rising in the top 150 what with Bratchikova

Georgia and Portugal :)

Im sorry, I meant Georgia. I was watching highlights of Tatishvili vs Wozniacki so I accidently put Denmark. Georgia does deserve one. That's not true. There is enough posting in the Baltic Breeze Thread to have its own Sub-Forum rather than be part of the Rest of the World Thread. Second, the only reason why it seems I am the only one who posts is because I have just started about 5 new threads for players who I have only come across recently due to the 10k Tallinn. If you look closely, you will notice that the juniors subforum is in the Other tournaments forum. It is a subforum specifically meant for tournaments. You can make threads about juniors in the relevant player forum sections.

I know there is a subforum but you cant make player threads there. And the advantage of having junior threads together is you dont have to go through every countries forums to see up and coming juniors. I dont necessarily know any juniors as such, I look and find them. Thats what happenned with Anett in 2011

So your suggestion is to have a specific forum for junior players' threads. I understand your request better now. We will review it, when we look at all the requests again.

not a request for a forum, but in the chakvetadze forum her 2012 livescores thread was made by a poster who is now banned. the title refers to her match against dokic at the oz open, if a mod could just change it to 'Anna Chakvetadze - Livescores 2012' or something similar so it can continue to be used as we are, but not have a thread title that reminds us all of that match and is 3 months out of date. thank you :)

Estonia is related in NO WAY!!! to the other Baltic states except in geography. Different Language, Food, People Culture and Genetic Make-up. Estonian's are Finnish, essentially. Also due to them having more connections with the Scandinavian countries including WC exchanges and in normal society too with the parallels in culture and values, I think that Estonia could be put in the Scandinavian section. Hey, it's in Scandinavian travel books  Then Lithuania and Latvia can be put in rest of the world. Also, Lithuania and Latvia only have 1 active thread and that is Jelena Ostapenko so there is no point in them being with Estonia and Estonia isn't big enough in the tennis world yet to have its own forum

Dulgheru was Top 50 at the time when I nominated her. But anyway, because that was almost a year ago and I didn't realise then how strict the Admins were on creating subforums. You pretty much need to be Top 20 and making Slam quarterfinals to get one nowadays.

Laura Robson. Yes, I know that there are players ranked far higher than her without a their own subsection (such as Lepchenko, due to enter the top 20 on Monday). However, her popularity more than merits one. In the 6 years that Laura has had a thread in S&C, she has averaged over 900 posts a year in them and is responsible for more than 50% of the total thread views in the S&C section (also that people have been requesting the subsection since '08). This indicates that there's been a large number of fans for a sustained period of time. She has had a comparable number of posts about her to Kerber's chat thread (the difference is something like 60 posts, less than 10%), indicating her popularity at this time. Given that it's unlikely that Laura's going to disappear from the scene any time soon, those numbers are probably going to stay relatively steady, or increase further as she sees more more consistent success.

Essentially, Laura's got the activity to justify having her own section, and maintain it (as she has for years). Barring catastrophe she should have a year end ranking high enough to justify it as well.
