Iveta seems to enjoy Tokyo and the court seems like it plays fast and the bounce is quite high which suits her game. She reached the QF in 2009 and won the doubles last year.

I'm starting to worry about her Olympics' chances.
She's currently the 7th best ranked Czech and may lose quite a lot of points if she doesn't defend her AO 4R.

Plus with Barbora and Lucie ahead, she could scratched entirely.

Hradecka has quite a lot to defend too, as does Barbora and Iveta probably has the least amount of points to defend from Feb until Roland Garros. I'm not sure Klara is eligible due to lack of Fed Cup commitments.

How many players can be named on the team? Is it six?

BTW I finally saw her match against Kirilenko at the AO and she was AMAZING! :worship: She probably played better than she did against Jankovic in 2010.

Ouch lost doubles too, but GREAT START to the year, Qtrs of a Premier. Iveta looks great this year, fit and toned. She's the #8 seed in Sydney Qualies. 1st up Lourdes Dominguez Lino. Kanepi is in her bracket.

I very much doubt their heart was in that doubles match (I was surprised they even entered tbh) considering the Sydney qualifying draw was already out.

Iveta put up a solid display against Clijsters and it should at least give a bit of confidence she can win a few matches at the AO (which didn't seem too likely at the tail end of last year...)

Iveta is focused, concentrated and motivated and feels comfortable right now - a combination which is perfect and not the average rule in her former seasons. The singles matches showed some strategical cleverness, esthetical perfection and a good condition. Australia always has been a good place for her, so the prospects are fine. I feel very positive about the crowded czech run for the Olympics. A good time for fellow fans, and most of all a even better time for Iveta.

Best Fedcup-appearance for Ivetka since 2008 and only the second time for her at all that a tie is effected without a loss. :)

On forehand down the line, Venus Williams wins 6-4, 6-3 over Iveta Benesova. Wasn't always easy or pretty, but ended convincingly.
Early on, Iveta Benesova's strategy seems to be hitting the ball high and soft. Not working. Venus teeing off for forehand winners.
But then Benesova gets a few longer rallies going and breaks Venus to open the match. So who knows.
Iveta Benesova's drop shot has worked every time. Making Venus run all over the court.

Iveta was in control, Amanmuradova ´s only weapon is her serve. In the third set Iveta was 3 times break up, she was serving for the match and was 30:0 , 30:15 and DF and she lost her serve to 30. WTA fans should have strong nerves.

To be honest it was more competitive than the scoreline looked and I'm sure she could have won a few more games if she had a bit more self-belief. She was bossing the brunt of the rallies but ended a lot of them with a silly UE.
