The 14-year-old is set to make her tournament debut in Berlin next week. Rurikovich, born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine to an engineer father and ex-ballerina mother grew up in St Petersburg. After her tennis talents were revealed, her parents moved to Barcelona to train where she developed her talents on her favourite surface - clay.

As a junior training in Spain, Rurikovich was exposed to some scandalous behaviour from Spanish stars past and present and in light of the "Candy Vittoria scandal", she will give a tell-all interview on German TV before her tournament debut. Rurikovich will play Brazil's Maria Broseghini in qualifying.

Would she by any chance like to play doubles on a permanent basis alongside fellow Russian newcomer, Maria Shapovalova?

Excited for the interview!
