I turned off at 5-2. Good thing as well. I can only do so much roller-coastering. Wimby is still fresh in the memory bank and, really, all I care about is seeing her in a QF or SF at the USO. I watched the match Lin. And some of the line calls were indeed dubious. And yes, she had every right to be frustrated. I just didn't like some of what I saw. That's all. Just 'cause I love watching her play doesn't mean that I'm going to approve of everything she does...;)

There's healthy attitude, which is great to see and she's exhibited that in the past, and then, there is what I saw today. And I just didn't like it. And BECAUSE I like her, it's something I hope I don't see too much of going forward.

As for your second point, I really couldn't agree more. That's what I was alluding to in the previous comment. She doesn't 'seem' right. Think about the middle-eastern swing at the beginning of the year. She beat Kleybanova 2 and 0, ok, her tennis was flowing, but she was winking at people in the crowd, smiling as wide as a Cheshire cat, even when she lost to Sveta, she was having a right ol' chat with her before and after, it was 'all good'. Even that match against Caro, where she dropped 12 straight and had about 50 game points and converted none, her attitude was like 'I'm sticking with this'.

I'm not a behavioural expert, and even if I was, I wouldn't even dream of applying my skills to her :lol: But, IMO, there has to be something going on off-court. See, you get that with students all the time. You can very easily tell when someone's being affected by something that's not related to studies. The whole demeanor changes. And yes, she's always had attitude, and that makes her special, but the demeanor is not right. She's always been a graceful winner and loser, and today there was ZERO grace. Win or lose.

And finally, what is worse in my opinion, and this is the totally scary part, is that she does not look 'at ease' on the court. She struggles. With herself. Early in the year, I kept saying she looked like a girl in love, and while that was (partly) joking, she did have that happy, shining, 'airy' thing about her. Somewhere during the year (around the injury;)) she lost that all. Her game is gone (the whole new offensive gamestyle that went so well early in the year is down the drain) but most of all her spirit is gone :(
At RG, but mostly in Rosmalen, I thought it was (coming) back because she looked so smiley off the court, she was chatting and having fun with the other players, there were smiles all around, etc. But it's not:shrug:

Sad to say, but if it is Rezai she meets, if Aravane plays like she did against Polona in Bastad, she'll have a very tough time winning. Although you can ALWAYS count on Aravane to implode, even more so than with Flavia :lol:
