"Before my tennis was a priority, I was 100 percent focused on it, but the older you get, the interest for other things. Now I want to spend more time with friends and family. Of course, this does not mean that my career is over, I would love to be on top again, "conveyed the" Journal "Jankovic statement.

"Pavel was in London with me, but I'm not sure if we will extend cooperation,".

Hmmm... who would have known by the way she has played in the last two months... the motivation is gone I guess...

And I was a fan of her :tape:

Now she is just interested in getting a TV career it seems :ignore:

I feel bad for her fans. It sucks when you come to the realization that you care more about a player's results than they do.

wow...shocking. but honestly im not surprised, she doesnt have the fire like a sharapova or williams. she so talented...very talented and at one point it was ridiculous how much control and veriety she had...its a loss for all of tennis and its really sad that such talent is not realized...best player never to win a slam for sure....

this bitch annoys me....a player with her abilities has no excuses not to win.

What a huge loss for tennis. No doubt she was the most inspiring, creative player there ever was. Like, totally, ever.

another statement id like to make...Jelena has made to many excuses, made too much fuss and has lost sight of what made her one of the best. her movement her veriety and her defence...all of her best assets she has lost one by one until the player we see today is no longer the player that once was..its SAD

it looks to me like instead of playing her game she listened to all the idiots who told he she needed to change everything about her game...when really her game was great. sad!!!

What a bitch:sobbing: With that serve and improving groundstorkes(like she has in 2008) she could have won RG...she's really stupid...I care more about her results than she.
Jelena better retire than losing all the time in 2nd and 3rd rounds.

Keep playing, take apperance fees, go to players parties and lose to the first serious oppoennt she faces.

Pretty much the same as the last two years.

As someone already posted, disappointing for her fans. But it is her life, she reached a point where she feel it is time to move on to another phase of her life.

well she is spending so much time in belgrade these days  when she was in top form she barely had time to go home just in case of some injuries. her preparations for wim were laughable, 2 and a half weeks in belgrade and 5 days in london...and actually she said something like "with little bit of luck i can go to the final" just before wim, yeah right :spit:

She was a pleasure to watch back in 07/08. One of the smartest players ever on tour, right up there with the genius that was Hingis. And she brought so much joy to the court and was always so proud of the way she constructed points.

I believe the 2008 USO final was the tipping point for her. She never really came back to her old self after that.

actually the three back to back title in the fall of 2008 were quite great, and she played wonderfully, then came the YEC, she was way to tired, tanked it, and after that she was never the same...

Nah, Na is older than her so that would only comfort her "see Jelena, it's not too late for you to win a slam".

It's the fact that a 20-year-old surpassed her weeks at #1. That's what's really grinding her gears.

a lot of players have "retired", recharged their batteries and returned with aplomb. nothing like a little time off to refresh your desire and perspective,

these ladies start hitting regularly at a pretty young age. take the time and enjoy some of the rewards from your hard work.

But she was never like that. She was beating big names all the time, just look at her rivarly with Serena and Venus, she beat them at big tournaments often ... I think she is lost in tennis at the moment because she does not have a serious coach and team around her. Sneki can't help you play better, JeJa :awww:

I know, she had a whole different approach, very light-herated but she always wanted to acquit herslef well if not win. That's why I'm so disappointed with her - I never thought she'd resign to dragging around the tour as a journeywoman instead of withdrawing with dignity or taking a break once she doesn't feel like playing tennis anymore. That's what i meant.

Drama Queen. You are only young once--you only have a certain amount of time to be a top player--after you retire (around 30) you will most likely have another 40+ years to be grown up and spend time with friends and family. I think she will regret this.

I love you Jelena, but I have no sympathy for you. All these girls on the tour play tennis because it is their top priority and thy want to win, become the best. And you, with all your potential could really get something big out of your career if you too felt the same as most other girls. Since you don't, then leave. There is no point for you to play on the tour and sit a rank way below your tennis level and not give a damn. She either get motivated, retire and come back motivated, or retire for good. Just hanging around doing nothing and being a loser isn't helping anyone. Especially your fans, who cheer for you and hope you'll do us proud by winning and giving it your all on court.

That's what happens when you play 20+ tournaments every season and you have a grinding type of game. She was on the fast track to burnout and we all saw it coming. 21 2010 20 2009 22 2008 28 (2007) 28 (2006) 29 (2005) 28 (2004) 24 (2003)

2010- 21 events
2009- 20 events
2008- 22 events
2007- 28 events
2006- 28 events

All the more so when JJ's fans' efforts to keep her relevant, at least on TF, over the past year or so (when it was clear she was going down the Petrova path) have been nothing short of heroic.
