Welcome aboard everyone, I am very proud to open that royalthread.

I hope all of you is mentally prepared to see Lucie as transparent as a ghost in her queentiful white outfit. BUT as you may have learn now, we never know what can happened with Lucie; only Princess Diana does from where she is
So come on Lucie, just be queentastic, Kate is on your side. And God grass you!

Enough talk, Tea Time! I mean Teannis Time!

Lucie is the 32nd seed :p they moved venus up, so she dropped down 1...but that's fine, she got the seed

Jun 15th, 2011, 11:06 AM
SHE GOT THE SEED!!!

Good Luck!
Hope she will draw some of British Wild Cards in first round

HowardH
Jun 15th, 2011, 02:23 PM
Love the opening post Laura.

It's probably better not to draw a British wild card. Even if they are not such strong players, they understand grasscourts and the crowd is behind them, plus they are underdogs so all the pressure is on Lucie to win and avoid an embarrassing loss.

Ideal would be someone like... Medina Garrigues. Something like that. A clay player.

Davodus
Jun 15th, 2011, 04:15 PM
Yeah a clay player with big swings who wont like the ball hard and fast

Seed #31 :woohoo:

Davodus
Jun 17th, 2011, 09:36 AM
Lucie got Hradecka round 1 and Zakopalova round 2, Sharapova round 3 :sobbing: not so good, Hradecka is a huge hitter and good on grass

Wert.
Jun 17th, 2011, 09:40 AM
But if she beat Hradecka round 2 will be easier.Zakopalova is in poor form

Davodus
Jun 17th, 2011, 09:44 AM
That means nothing for Lucie  Klara made R4 last year so she would no doubt find form

Wert.
Jun 17th, 2011, 09:50 AM
Unlucky as always

Jun 17th, 2011, 09:51 AM
^^ But Zakopalova is playing awful in last month

Remix13
Jun 17th, 2011, 09:57 AM
Anyway Lucie could beat almost every player. I'm confident she will be in 3R at least (againt Sharapova ?) ;)

Davodus

Lucie got Hradecka round 1 and Zakopalova round 2, Sharapova round 3 :sobbing: not so good, Hradecka is a huge hitter and good on grass

Well, that´s actually not true. Strange as it seems, grass seems to be her weakest surface. Before this year, she didn´t even win a single match on grass in the MD. And she lost to Baltacha 1:6, 3:6 in Nottingham. On the other hand, if Hradecká serves well, it will be very tough for Lucie Š. to break her serve.

Davodus
Jun 17th, 2011, 11:14 AM
Well, I just remember how well she played in Wimbledon 09 against Ana...serving huge serves around 200km/h etc. But if she has a bad day which she can Lucie should beat her...but who knows how both of them will play.

Robert-KimClijst
Jun 17th, 2011, 01:51 PM
Eh... I have come to learn the draw rarely matters for Lucie anyway.

Indeed she could beat lots of players but also could lose against any player at any time

Foals.
Jun 18th, 2011, 08:15 PM
It does seem like a potentially harsh draw for Lucie against her compatriots who are very dangerous on their game and are both top 45. It would mean that she would have to start playing well quickly and avoid the slow starts as seen in Copenhagen. :o

Considering she almost beat Marion whose now the Eastbourne champion, you would like Lucie's chances to make the 3rd round. We all know better than to count on Lucie anywhere in a grandslam though.

Doubles R1 vs [Q] Arina Rodionova/Urszula Radwanska

Winnable match,come on! :cheer:

Davodus
Jun 19th, 2011, 03:37 PM
Actually I think those 2 are quite a strong team, they were probably the hardest Q team and both are good doubles players. But I don't really care that much how she goes in doubles

Davodus
Jun 20th, 2011, 07:41 PM
Lucie is 5th and last on court 10 :o they will never get to that  too much to get through

Davodus

I'm ecstatic she won, I was fearing either her slow start would let her down or a choke after missing BP's for a double break insurance final set. A good fightback from Lucie and another three set win.

I won't underestimate Zakopalova as she often plays well against Lucie, but nows a good a time as ever to play her as she barely scraped through today against a low ranked player. Just happy she's broken her spell of no win at Wimbledon since 2007 though.

Davodus
Jun 21st, 2011, 10:09 PM
Well, I was way too tired to be awake for that, so it's so nice to wake up to a win  and another 3 set win from a set down! Really happy, she has finally won a match at wimbledon again, and I think against a pretty good player. This is a pretty good result.

Now Zakopalova again, who gave her so much trouble in Melbourne then thrashed her in Dubai  but she has been horrible...so I hope she continues to be horrible, I mean she only just won and it was very very long...hopefully Lucie can do it

EDIT: wow, looking at the stats her serving was really was fantastic after the first set, only lost 5 points on it in 2 sets! Maybe she is finally figuring out that her serve can be super effective on a grass court

Foals.

^ I didn't know that. Stranger things have happened, I mean her stats were good at Eastbourne too wern't they?

Anyway, forgot to mention Lucie and Misa's doubles match is tomorrow. Lucie is on court 11 again, so hopefully a good omen for a win that would keep her ticking over, ready for her match on thursday.

Davodus

OK, but bear in mind that Hradecká´s return can get seriously "AWOL" for whole sets or even matches. For example, her return was totally abysmal against Petkovic in Paris (RG).

The match against Zakopalová will probably be better test of the effectivity of Lucie´s serve on grass.

Another bad czech returner  but anyway, Lucie only missed 2 first serves in the third set, so that alone is a pretty good stat.

By the way, see:
http://www.wtatennis.com/SEWTATour-Archive/Rankings_Stats/match_stats.pdf

Lucie belongs to the top ten in the following categories:

Aces (3. Lucie 152 aces), points won on the first serve (9. Lucie 69,1%), service games won (10. Lucie 74,2%), breakpoints saved (3. Lucie 65,2%). Sadly, she isn´t in the top 10 with respect to points won on the second serve, which - by the way - has costed her alot tight matches when she suddenly starts to miss her first serve (against Dokic in Kuala Lumpur, against Goerges at RG, possibly against Bartoli in Eastbourne).

When you click on the match stats, you can click on one of the numbers of each set on the scoreboard and it tells you the stats for that set

Lucie will need to get off to a much faster start against Zakapalova. The last thing we want is for Klara to gain confidence and get out of her funk if Lucie donates the first set. Then again, Lucie seems to love three set matches so who knows.

I don't have a good feeling about the doubles,.,

Klarka has probably the worst 2nd serves on the WTA tour. There is no way in hell it should have been 6-0 in the first set. Ever since Copenhagen, Lucka has been almost content to just throw away the first set. Wouldn't surprise me if Klarka took the 3rd, and it would probably serve Lucka right.

I don't get why she has always so much problems against kookie, i mean it's not like she has something special

Probably it has to do with the fact that Klara is a weak server and very good returner (on bh side as well).

Most people return Klara's serve well, but Lucie does not.

Most people return Lucie's serve less well than Klara.

So Klara's weakness when serving becomes less of a weakness, and Lucie's strength when serving becomes less of a strength.

0-1 in the tb.

The momentum is tipping Klara's way now, especially if she gets this game too.

Just want to point out before I go, that she has had game points in 4 of the 5 games this set, and only taken 1.

Lucie :smash:. But I admit, a really great return from Klara to finish that game.

So basically, Lucie has to win before the game goes to deuce.

Exactly. And Lucie´s lefty serve to the backhand of an opponent doesn´t work against Klára at all.

I think also maybe Lucie finds it weird that someone can hit hard and flat with her for a long period of time. Normally people are overpowered by her, or have to slow the pace down. Klara does neither. She can keep the rally going at pace. The serve/return thing is pretty big though, probably the real clincher to this matchup. Klara hit a fantastic bh return off Lucie's swinging serve to get that break, and at the end of the last game, Lucie hit an easy error off a puffball second serve from Klara.

I said it already after the match at AO: Klára is actually far better in "regular" rallies than Lucie. After all, if you remember her match against Serena Williams at RG, she actually outplayed Serena in "regular" rallies as well. Serena won because of her serve and because she was able to return agressively the weak serve of Klára. But Serena was in deep troubles in rallies whenever she didn´t get the immediate advantage with the first stroke (either a powerful serve or return of Klára weak serve).

Seriously... screw this error fest. Lisicki just saved 2 match points on serve and then broke back to level at 5-5 in 3rd. Far better match!

Her biggest downfall was not taking BPs and GPs...like 3 games in a row to have chances to win all those games and win none, of course you will lose. Horrible quality match.
