First stop Birmingham in main draw next week! :bounce:

Followed by Eastbourne in Q! :D

Pity that she couldn't play the ITF in Nottingham this week because of her third round at Roland Garros...

Good luck, though! :cheer:

I think it´s not a pity Sori couldn´t play Nottingham because she could take some rest after the French Open and be fresh and ready for Birmingham... not sure if she plays Q at Eastbourne because I haven´t found a qualies entry list on the official website...

but anyway good luck in Birmingham, Sorana! looking forward to the shortest part of the season.. tournaments on grass are so nice and exceptional

Kick ass on grass!

I hope she does also! Last time I saw her on grass she got blasted off court in tears by Kvitova

Jun 2nd, 2011, 11:27 AM
At least she wasn't the only player of last year's Wimbledon who got blasted off the court by Kvitova. :oh:

Jun 3rd, 2011, 05:37 PM
Sori's chances of a run in Birmingham will rise after the withdrawals of Sharapova, Bartoli and Hercog! Some more and she would be even seeded! :oh:

Jun 4th, 2011, 12:33 PM

(16)Alla Kudryavtseva RUS v Alize Cornet FRA
Sandra Zahlavova CZE v Casey Dellacqua AUS
Kai-Chen Chang TPE v Sorana Cirstea ROU
(4)Daniela Hantuchova SVK v BYE

Win a match :)

Jun 4th, 2011, 12:35 PM
Damn :fiery:

Hantuchova and Peng are the only players left in the draw which I would definitely expect to beat Sori in any case... :o

But Chang on grass could be tricky, too. Let's hope she prevails :)

Jun 5th, 2011, 09:52 AM
Who is Daniela and Peng?

Jun 5th, 2011, 12:25 PM
Doubles R1: Kanepi/Rybarikova v Cirstea/Erakovic

Jun 5th, 2011, 06:51 PM
Sori should beat Chang in my opinion...

Jun 5th, 2011, 07:28 PM
tough draw =( I am just happy she doesnt play copenhagen as last year birmingham much better choice

Jun 6th, 2011, 03:06 PM
Birmingham, Round 1:

Sorana Cîrstea def. Kai-Chen Chang 6:3 6:3 :yeah:

Well done, Sori! :yeah:

61% first serves, 4 aces
89% points on the first serve!

Good luck against Anatoxfa! :scared:

Jun 6th, 2011, 04:30 PM
Good job. She definitely seems to be playing better lately. Long way to go still, bur at last some positive signs.

Jun 6th, 2011, 08:21 PM
well done, Sori!:D so happy for her... now she´s facing Daniela it´s going to be very tough but I guess it could be a three set match... Sori is playing better and if she loses to Daniela that won´t change that fact she has been improving

Jun 7th, 2011, 02:28 AM
WD Sori :D:yeah:

Jun 8th, 2011, 04:32 PM
Lost to Hantuchova 0 and 3. Disappointing first set.

Jun 8th, 2011, 04:49 PM
It's still a long way to go and the rain breaks didn't help her either... :o

Good luck in Eastbourne qualies, though! :)

Jun 8th, 2011, 08:48 PM
Better luck next time Sori.

Jun 10th, 2011, 09:22 PM
Hope that better days are coming for Sorana...

A report from her match against Hantuchova:

What a RIDICULOUS situation this match was. After the first rain delay they came out and knocked up 3 times, only for it to start raining again right at the end of the knock up. It only actually rained for about an hour total all day but it would be every 45 minutes, for 10 minutes, and then for some stupid reason they had the grounds-staff clearing the practice courts and the outer courts *before the main*. Ugh.

Anyway, they both took it well, laughing and joking with the umpire. Start of the match was all Cirstea misses, she was just terrible. Then, after 8 mins of play (because Danka had kept everyone waiting as per usual ) the rain spurts started.

So, cut-to 4 and a half hours later and at 4pm it gets under way. Cirstea is still sucking. I turned to the bloke next to me at 4-0 and said, of Dani, "I can't even tell if she's playing well or not". She was basically stroking everything around at 3/4 speed, keeping good length, moving Sori around waiting for the error, and hitting the occasional winner. Very professional.

Second set Dani came out and was poor, especially on Sori's service. Sori hit a handful of winners, and Dani helped her out with some sloppy errors to get it to 2-2, which set up the decisive game of the match.

First point was a super point - Dani was losing it but got inside Sori's head, reading where she was going to go for the put away and then on the next shot hit a super forehand up the line on the stretch. Next point she hit another forehand winner up the line but in much more regulation fashion. So, 0-30, but then Sori hit a winner on her next point, and then at 15-30 there was a great point with Dani on the defensive, hoisting up a lob, Sori retrieving it before crushing a forehand winner after Dani's next shot. Next up I think (because half a day under an umbrella has fried my brain) a couple of Sori errors, at 30-40 you could see her shoulders slump and her body language was terrible, and she errored on the next point to be broken - that break was the nail in the coffin and it was regulation from there on out.

Sori errors to finish on the break, she'd gone by this point, looked very disinterested.

So, overall Dani wasn't taxed *at all*, had a little spell where she didn't play well, but did what she had to and always looked the winner. Wasn't overly impressive, some nice winners here and there, serve okay, forehand working well, but it didn't have to be impressive - she just got the job done quickly, which given the weather being so unpredictable was absolutely the way forward.

Sori, it's just not her surface and she never looked confident, or able to go for her shots.

WTA Eastbourne, Qualifying Draw:

(1)Vesnina vs. Craybas
Lucic vs. Shvedova
Lepchenko vs. Cirstea
Keothavong vs. (8)Cornet

Qualifying here could become very tough!

Anyway, is Lepchenko supposed to be a good grass courter?

Jun 11th, 2011, 01:19 PM
will be really tough as she got there prob today must be tired

Jun 11th, 2011, 03:55 PM
Good luck Sori.

Jun 11th, 2011, 06:38 PM
She won 2 and 3 :bounce:.

Jun 11th, 2011, 06:41 PM
Awesome! Varvie is definitely in form! :)
Keep it up! :cheer:

Jun 11th, 2011, 07:36 PM
Sori :woohoo:

Jun 12th, 2011, 10:10 AM
It was never really a contest to be honest. Sori always looked in control, even when Lepchenko tried pulling a medical time out before the change of ends. It was played quite late and in quite cold conditions by that time and you could sense Sori just wanted to win and get out of there.

Hope she can get into the MD as the field in Eastbourne is very strong this year, could be a great tournament for her :)

Jun 12th, 2011, 09:58 PM
Great win Sori!

Jun 13th, 2011, 12:03 PM
Eastbourne, QR2:

Anne Keothavong def. Sorana Cîrstea 6:3 6:3 :o

Just when things started looking better...
60 points from her last year second round go off now!

You can't win a match on grass with 50% first serves

By the way, she won more points on Anne's second serve on grass! :weirdo:

Jun 13th, 2011, 01:44 PM
 .

Jun 13th, 2011, 04:13 PM
oh no.... it´s bad but she can gain them back at Wimby

Jun 16th, 2011, 04:03 AM
Sori

Jun 16th, 2011, 04:04 AM
Today in my warm up,was playing a little football with my team and managed to hit the ball in someone's backyard. So here i am,trying to get ready for my first hit at Wimbledon and as im having an adrenaline rush sneaking into the men's property to get back the ball the only thing that goes through my mind is ''Please God let there be no dogs and no alarm on,i dont care about any tennis match right now" :))))

Jun 17th, 2011, 09:40 AM
Against Parmentier in Wimbledon R1 :)

Jun 17th, 2011, 09:57 AM
(22) Peer - Pervak
Cirstea - Parmentier
qualifier - qualifier
Arn - (11) Petkovic

My honest opinion, couldn't be much better for an unseeded player!

Please, don't mess it up!

Jun 17th, 2011, 10:34 AM
True. It's about as good as it gets for an unseeded player.

Jun 17th, 2011, 02:42 PM
Parmetier is in-form player but on grass Sorana can outplay her. And second round is also winnable, but all depends of Sorana.

Jun 18th, 2011, 04:26 AM
Great draw
GL Sori! :rocker:
And doubles with Morita :p. R1 vs. (15) Chuang/Hsieh :bounce:

Jun 19th, 2011, 05:35 PM
Sori should win tomorrow but we´ll see how it is going to be.... good luck!

Jun 20th, 2011, 12:26 PM
She lost 1 and 3 :help:

Jun 20th, 2011, 12:34 PM
Awful, no other words. A total shellacking.

Jun 20th, 2011, 01:02 PM
Bye Bye Wimbledon :'( The tournament finished for me :'(

Jun 20th, 2011, 01:14 PM
to be honest I really didn´t expect such a result... Sori should have won... now she can prepare again for another part of clay season...

Jun 20th, 2011, 01:40 PM
Sori  .

Jun 20th, 2011, 01:45 PM

Such a nice draw...

Jun 20th, 2011, 01:53 PM
She still has doubles I guess. With Morita.

Jun 20th, 2011, 02:29 PM
OMG :help:
And Peer lost to Pervak so Sori could've made the third round where she would've played Petkovic/Foretz Gacon/Dubois/Falconi which would've been a great chance to make R16

Jun 20th, 2011, 04:38 PM
silly totally she is helpless really horrible horible I must admit I really didnt expected a loss and such loss really horrible I am giving up on her =/

Jun 24th, 2011, 03:17 AM
where she play next

Jun 25th, 2011, 03:57 PM

Jun 27th, 2011, 03:56 AM
She is still alive in doubles here

Jun 28th, 2011, 09:11 PM
Into doubles R16 :D
Now vs. Lisicki/Stosur

Jun 29th, 2011, 07:14 AM
Tough opposition. I think they'd do well to take a set actually.

Jun 29th, 2011, 10:19 AM
my favs against each other.... it could be a good match
