After strong performances in Madrid, when the new ranking is released on Monday, Kvitova is guaranteed to be ranked at least #10 and Goerges at least #20.

Congratulation to both! :D

2 Germans in the Top 20 btw.

Some people should finally stop calling Kvitova fluke. Just because she has losses against Barrois or Morita in R1s doesn´t mean that she had fluke run in Wimbledon, AO, Paris, Bisbane and here. She has great results.

Wow really well done Kvitova this is great!! This was her chance before Wimbledon points come off and she took it. Julia is amazing, I mean I was happy when she struggled past Birnerova in Charleston and now this... Amazing :D

funny to look at the results of surprise Wimbledon semi-finalists Kvitova and Pironkova ... Kvitova is in the top 10 now and Pironkova hardly won a match since Wimbledon :spit:

Noctis

Pironkova was a fluke.she has no power or skills. But her balls were dead low and flat on grass 。

Petra and Julia good players should be where they are

I can safely say that Kvitova's stay in the top 10 will be a short one, just like Bartoli's. She is riding on good results from just a few tournaments and when her Wimby points come off, she'll definitely be out of the top 10.

Hopefully Julia can take advantage of the state the WTA is in now and gain some points during the clay season to reach the top 10.

IF!
Seems like you are convinced that she won´t repeat her SF...and even if she won´t, till Wimbledon she hasn´t almost ANY points to defeat just Madrid qualies..that means, nothing in RG, nothing in grass seasson (till Wimbledon of course), still a lot of opportunites to get many points before Wimbledon. Then she won´t need even defend her SF to stay in TOP 10.

Look I've observed Petra for a long time and I know that she is a hot and cold player. Everytime she is hot and reaches the latter stages of a tournament, she crashes out early in her next few.

I expect this time to be no different as well. Petra will probably lose in R1 of her next 3 tournaments so I don't expect her to get much points before Wimby. She'll probably have to defend all her points to stay in the top 10.

Kvitova cannot even win a match in a 100.000, and she now belongs to Top 10.

You are trying to make unnecessary drama just because it was a 100k challenger. She wasn´t beaten by Brie Whithead but by in form Barrois, almost all TOP 10 players has such bad loses throughout the year. Look at the opponent not at the tournament. An example - Jankovic lost to Diyas and Kvitova to Barrois, which one is worse? Kvitova´s just because it was 100k challenger and not Moscow? Lol. Such loses can happen everwhere it doesn´t matter if you are playing 100k challenger or GS. According to your logic Kvitova is worse player just because she lost to Barrois in 100k, but if she would lose to Barrois in Moscow (example) it would be better? Interesting.

Wow I mean players ranked below #10 must be really close to each other if Goerges can surpass them all with a premier win and a mandatory SF. Of course those are great results but it's still amazing, nearly Top 10 with 2 good tournaments.

Yes she is hot and cold that´s true but it doesn´t mean the she will surely lose in next 3 tournaments in R1. I´m not saying that you can´t be right, of course your scenario is also possible, but it looks like you are very convinced that she will sucks again after this tournament. And this actually might not happen. If she has a shape pattern in her career it doesn´t mean that it will be always like that. She could also easily defend most of her Wimbledon points few weeks before in some random tournament(s) and then she will not need a SF in Wimbledon, but just sth like R4.

Kvitova is only the 2nd player born in 1990 or later to enter Top 10. Wozniacki was the first.
Pavlyuchenkova is closest to be the 3rd and if so will be the 1st born in 1991 or later.

Kvitova cannot even win a match in a 100.000, and she now belongs to Top 10.
As you know, ranking system doesn’t penalize early losses in non-mandatory tournaments. 21 years old Petra Kvitova reached a Top 10 career high, because she earned 3,123 points within last 52 weeks, including

two remarkable GS results [SF (Wimbledon) & QF ( Melbourne)]
one significant PM result [SF Madrid (still in tournament)] and
two out of eight noteworthy results in her tournament out of choice (RU 618K Paris, tournament win at 220K Brisbane)

Goerges.... I can just remind you Sanchez and Birnerova.
IMO not useful comparisons:

22 years old Julia Goerges played her first Top 100 season in 2009 and advanced to Top 50 a year later. In 2011, she won 718K Stuttgart and advanced to SF at PM Madrid (still in tournament) and 220K Auckland. It’s save to say that she will top it at year end.
31 years old Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez is a late bloomer. She was ten seasons on stage before playing two straight Top 30 seasons (2009-10). Right now it looks like she is not able to confirm these results.
26 years old Eva Birnerova didn’t won any WTA single tournament and played only one Top 100 season (2006) so far.
Wow I mean players ranked below #10 must be really close to each other if Goerges can surpass them all with a premier win and a mandatory SF. Of course those are great results but it's still amazing, nearly Top 10 with 2 good tournaments.
As Julia Goerges is more than 600 points short, I would not call this nearly Top 10. Her 2,500 points which will move her to # 20 career high includes also one tournament win (220K Bad Gastein 2010), one RU (220K Luxembourg 2010), one GS-R3 (Melbourne 2011), one SF (220K Auckland 2011) and one QF (618K Charleston 2011).
