Could have been a thing of beauty considering the matchup, guess I'll settle for good as Pavl couldn't keep it up throughout the second set. Great use of the conditions by Julia. :worship:

Pvalydsjkhljkova couldn't find Julia's backhand to save her life. She doesn't have enough width on her shots, which allowed us to see a good spectacle of forehand shot making. What's really impressive about Julia's forehand is the margin of error she leaves. It has decent top spin, but not big enough to sacrifice pace, so you get something in between which translates into higher percentage hard hatting, something near the optimum. A shot like that should be harder to break in matches or career-wise. Someone like BoJo who has fantastic stroke production from the back of the court continuously misses the most routine sitters because of small margin of error - while Julia rarely misses these types of shots.

Well done, Julia.

But Nastya was just :help: :help: :help: :help: ... especially in the second set. As yet, she didn´t prove that she is able to play well the really important matches in later stages of tournaments. Not to mention her loss to Iveta at AO which was very :help: :help: :help: as well.

Well done Julia!:hearts:
Saved all 6 BPs, and that game when she was serving for the 1st set and being 0:40 down, but then won 5 consecutive points with 3 winners and 2 good serves (1 ace) was just

Conditions in Bogotá is the answer.

How were the conditions in Bogota?? Was she on drugs then??

Amazing win.... She always seems to get better when facing better opponents. Which is a quality of a champion....
Hope she can a French Open run, too....

Well done Julia but you all musn't get too carried away with the FO... :spit: There is plenty of tennis to still be played and plenty of things to happen still.

Anyways well done Julia. :yeah:

It wasn't Nastya day, definitely.
But Julia played probably her best match since Stuttgart, really great.:worship:
If Nastya had been on her normal level this match could have been in 3 sets....but better luck next time! ;)

Julia vs Vika probably...again two my favourite players, so no matter who win I'll be happy. ;)

The wind didn't help her cause but still you have to be disapointed with Pavs effort in this one. She had no answers to give, her backhand letting her down similar like Wozniacki's yesterday, being too loopy, dropping short and giving Goerges all the time in the world to set up her shots.
Once she managed to get in a rally, which was a real rarity, you could see some decent shotmaking but it was all too little. The games and points she won were mostly Goerges errors.

Julia played a great match after a bit shaky start, served great throughout, showed composure and confidence going for that big fh even when it let her down couple of times in a row (that hold at *5-4 0-40) and should have her chances against Vika, though not a big one I'd say considering how Vika has been playing so far, but long way to go till that match

Where has julia been hiding all these years  She's playing like an extremely experienced top10 player. I hope that she'll reach the top this year. Winning RG? Why not. Seriously, I won't be surprised if in a couple of years she'll reach the #1 spot. It would be great for the sport:D

Pavlyu was useless today. On a bright side, she has a very wise coach, he can do good for her :)

Apparently every Goerges opponent always plays under par

What an amazing coincidence

It's not of course a coincidence.
It generally goes that way with a player that hits the ball so hard and goes for winners of 2 or 3 shots.
When she loses people are going to say she collapsed, choked, ballbashed etc not giving any credit or thought what her opponent is doing on the court.
When she wins she wins by hitting tons of winners keeping her opponents out of every rally, making them look static/not trying/playing generally bad, defensive tennis.

Bogota is a tournament located high in the mountains (guess something like 2,900 metres, coming along with thin air and a very different ball bouncing) - so the poster is very right.

Nevertheless I am really amazed, that kind of success is not something one could expect right here right now - physically Julia is not on her best but her firepower is stronger than ever. :worship: :)

Amazing performance by Julia today, really strong!

She is very good mentally which is already half of why she can tough out matches. And with the improvements on her BH and fitness, she is among the best five players on clay this year.

I am hoping that Sabine and Petkovic get on the same roll as Goerges. Georges provides a great deal of entertainment in her game. It's good to see a new number 20. Hopefully Julia beats Azarenka in the SF and goes on to win Madrid. My fav has me smiling all day long.

I would not expect Gorges to do much in Rome, or if she withdrew even. Anyone else think she maybe?
This is a good run, I think she can beat Azarenka. her game is not so tough against better opposition.
