I remembered her play Mel at fed cup. She seemed pretty awful?

She had a foot injury some years ago, and was forced to retire because of it. She had a pretty good serve and decent strokes, but lousy movement and it always seemed as if she wanted to be somewhere else other than the court. Seemed like she would become a very good doubles player, though.

She's currently studying psychology at a university.

she was never close to top100

She was #132 at 20 yo. Not bad at all. She defeated top seed Pennetta in Bogotá to reach semis. The following year she defeated Duque Marino and Suárez Navarro there to reach QF before losing vs Martínez Sánchez in 3 sets.

Not yet confirmed as definitive. In an relatively recent interview she didn´t say it was official. I remember she had plenty of good wins like over Penetta, Kerber, Muller (when she was around top 50), Hercog, Paszek, Cravero (when in level), RoRo, Suarez Navarro, MDM. She started to play some WTA qualies, but after a close match with Cetkovska (i think in Indian Wells) and that Fed Cup quarterfinal, she started to lose with players like Sulpizio, so you can see how this injury affected her tennis.
Sadly, this is not strange for argies. Clarisa Fernandez, after reaching RG semis and defeating Dementieva, had a major injury on her knee i think and, despite some attempts of comeback, was never the same. Pitu Salerni, former junior champ, reached finally the top 70 in 2008, after a Bogota final, but soon retired because of another injury. Poly Suarez, despite winning two doubles titles in her final year, also had problems with injuries, when she was at the top of her game.

Betina is set for a comeback match in doubles along with Jori Cravero in the 10K of Rosario. I don´t think this will be a definitive return to tennis, seems like she wants to be around for the last pro tourney of her friend, but nothing its for sure. Lets hope she can play without injuries, at least in that tournament.
