Just eight contenders... Goerges, Pavlyuchenkova, Azarenka, Safarova, Li, Mattek-Sands, Cibulkova and Kvitova.
Who will win?

Elena Dementieva will come back from retirement and grab the title.

Kvitova without doubt (if she can keep up her brilliant serve stats) :)

But considering her inconsistency, I would go with Asarenka who has the momentum! But both in the final for sure! ;)

Kvitova.

Azarenka.

If Pavlychenkova gets past Goerges she'll have a chance to win, cause her shots are so fluent and clean on clay, but if Julia wins then it will be tough for Azarenka .

Maybe BMS might surprise us .

Hopefully The Gorgeous One continues saving the WTA Tour :sobbing:

I hope Goerges or Pavlyuchenkova, but Azarenka is the favourite obviously. Although Petra is extremely tough when she reaches the latter stages of a tournament.

I really want Kvitova to win. This will prove she's a real top-flight contender.

Gotta say, this final 8 is embarrasing for a Premier Mandatory. :o Another new low for the WTA!

Hopefully Kvitova, but it will probably be Mattek Sands with the way the WTA works these days, and she will win 3 matches in the next 12 months, whilst staying happily in the Top 30. :tape:

I like this streak of surprise winners for the big clay events we've been having and for that to continue we need another non-top ten at the start of the tournament player to win. That means I'm hoping for someone other than Azarenka or Li to win. That said, I do see Azarenka as a strong favourite and it will probably take an outstanding performance to oust her.

Kvitova is probably the most likely player to beat Vika as she is someone who gets stronger the deeper she gets into a tournament. She is pretty strong mentally too most of the time.

I was unaware that two top ten players and a slew of staples made it MM :smash:

are you kidding? this for a Premier Mandatory QF is fine compared to the Grand Slam final we had last year at Roland Garros

anyway, where is the WWW Madrid thread from before the tournament started when people voted for Sharapova and Wozniacki :rolls:

I think lucie has a shot she loves the conditions here semis last year. I would like to see julia win it but I do not think she will hold up physically, Knowing WTA Li will win it and then will not win another match till september lol.

Do the semifinalists in Madrid get a BYE in Rome?
