View Full Version : Will Farinaīs loss be the decisive point in the semi-final ?

Normally I would have said 1:1 after day1 too but not that Daniela+Silvia lost.

Iīm sceptical about Silvia defeating Daniela tomorrow and now that the Italians should have difficulties in doubles against Husarova, Iīm sceptical about my wish that the Italians should win FedCup.

I would love them to win that with such a nice girl like Silvia Farina Elia celebrating such a triumph in one of final seasons.

Spain has won it so many times, Slovakia should be hot with Daniela in the future and Austria has no real big name apart from Schett (with the injury of Schwartz) so it should be Spain vs Slovakia and Slovakia making it. But Iīm definetly hoping for Italy !

If Farina had won her match they would have had about 75% of chances to make it to the finals.

The main problem I think is the doubles match, because I don't see Dani & Janette being upset... So Italy would have to win both singles matches tomorrow, and that's gonna be tough :o But not impossible :)

Answering your question: yes, I think Farina's loss will be decisive.

I don't know Vinci is a good doubles player!

Husarova will be the leader on the court though.

And with the likes of a top singles/doubles named Hantuchova I doubt they will make it.

Interestingly enough I thought itīs a clay event ( which would speak for Italy ) and then I saw itīs indoor hardcourt isnīt it. So that explains a lot why Farina lost to Husarova IMO.

I think it will go like this:

Schiavone def. Hantuchova
Husarova def. Farina Elia

Schiavone def. Husarova
Hantuchova def. Farina Elia
Hantuchova/Husarova def. Farina Elia/Vinci

Slovak Republic def. Italy 3-2

Martinez def. Wartusch
Sanchez-Vicario def. Schett

Martinez def. Schett
Sanchez-Vicario def. Wartusch
Ruano Pascual/Serna def. Schett/Wartusch

Spain def. Austria 5-0

Slovak Republic vs Spain

Whats wrong with her? How is she? Will she be fit by Thursday to play in the Championships?

Surely she'll be in Los Angeles(she left today)
. She had some pain at her back during second set vs Husarova ,but then she didn't suffer other probs against Hantuchova...
and, anyway , she had a good draw playing in first round vs Capriati, not surely the best players of last months.
