Great mental strength and fight!

Again Caro has no answers to a player like Goerges.

Wozniacki´s just bad on outdoor redclay, shows again here. She loses all the initiative that she creates on fast surfaces. Total defensive play.

Seriously though, how bad was wozniacki at the end of that third set. Couldn´t keep the ball in the court. 0_o

worrying times for Wozniacki

this was all about Goerges who was hitting winners and mostly hitting UEs; without those she could have won 6-1 6-3

Well Wozniacki was too defensive, when she attacks more, serves with higher risk, hits more winners, just plays more like she usually does, then my friends Julia Goerges is in deep trouble. :tape:

That was awful from Caro, especially against a player who just beat her in a final.
From 3-3 in the 3rd, that's when good players are supposed to step up, and Caro was owned.

Miss Amor
May 5th, 2011, 01:06 PM
Woz and her camp tried to cheat Julia by asking to schedule the match in the morning and give her as less time to rest as possible after her 3-hour marathon. In the end, even an extremelt tired Julia outplayed and beat the World Number 1 and her cheap tricks

Julia was up and down today but she deserved the win. Caro was plain bad: no imagination, no drop shots, no going forward etc. Even her BHDTL rarely worked. I just hope she's on an upwards curve towards FO and will be better in the next few weeks.
Congrats to Julia and good luck the rest of the tournament.

I do admire how cool and calm she is, even though Goerges was screaming "Come on" after every single point at the start of the third set.
Julia has a great forehand and her coach gave her good advice on moonballing Caro. However sometimes she rushes and hits some horrible shots. Congrats though!
Caro get some rest and ready for Rome ;) Not a bad week, bad luck drawing Goerges.

Caro played like a brainless retriever. That's not how you play someone youve lost a week ago.She didn't change anything in her game plan. Very one dimensional :o At least try to change it up with drop shots or something else when your opponent is tired.

Patrick345
May 5th, 2011, 01:12 PM
Goerges has an excellent gameplan to beat Caro. She specifically targets Wozniacki´s backhand with high bouncing topspin balls and then attacks the high short ball that usually follows from Wozniacki. Wozniacki cannot generate any power off the high topspin on her backhand (kinda like Zvonareva). What you never want to do is get into flat hitting rallies on the backhand side, but the way Goerges plays, she even turns Wozniacki´s biggest strength into a vulnerability. In the end Wozniacki´s game simply broken down, when she realized just waiting won´t get it done. People can call it unforced errors, it´s Wozniacki´s attempt to be more agggressiv and then her technique becomes vulnerable.

Yes in last matchs everything was in the racket of Julia.

Contrary to a lot of player , she is not afraid and can play consistent without exploding (even if this second set was really bad, it was still only her the deciding factor and I knew she could come back in the third).

Julia has the serve, the mental and the game to beat Wozniacki. if she can maintain this level I see no reasons why she should not be able to beat Wozniacki again. She was clearly playing at he hand and not overplaying and not playing above her level. Just playing her tennis.:lick:

maybe caro's just distracted when she plays important matches in slams she just wants that title and can't focus enough, and when she plays julia maybe all she can think of is how she would love a natural chest like julia and gets distracted by them during rallies?

all seriousness caro in both recent matches against goerges now she has gone way in to the defensive mind frame when it's the exact opposite she should be doing.

Good win for Julia. She was visibly tired in the third set but still managed to get a win over a player who prides herself on her fitness. I'm very disappointed in Caroline after getting back into the match and forcing a third set. I thought we were going to get a tiebreak.

Caroline still has time to up her game before Roland Garros but she needs to improve her serve on clay. I'm not 100% sure but it seemed like she struggled to hold in at least half of her service game and only had a couple of easy holds. Against a player like Julia, who she struggles to break, she needs to be able to rely on her own serve.

Svetlana)))

So calm, humble and modest and such a nice game to watch.... Reminds me of Ivanovic before the cockiness and "AJDE!!!!!11"s started up.

Julia didn't expose anything. She is a ballbasher. She played well, Caro didn't, hence Julia won.

That's wrong.

That 's three matchs in a row against Julia that Wozniacki does not have an answer. It tells something.

Seems like clay is a difficult surface for Caro. The slow play takes away the counterpunching and when forced to come up with solutions, can't cope with it.

That was really, really wierd. Julia, barely able to lift her racket wins the 3rd set. I think Caro's famous mental strength is showing cracks.

:haha: Wozniacki will never win a red clay title.

Apart from the sentiment - starting to worry if you may be right. Still hoping though.

She's got Woz's number:bounce::bounce::bounce:

Hope you're wrong - but worried you may be right. Seems to me that Caro did a lot of it to her self. We may be seeing the beginning stages of a head thing.

"You're a really. really up-beat woman - and i so hope that you're right.

I am under impression that Goerges may be Wozniacki nemesis in the future./B]d.

AAAAAAAAAAH - Don't air my secret fears ind public ....:)

I saw their last 3 matchs and Wozniacki is always at her limit againt Julia, not playing comfortably and being [B]really dominated from the groun/B]d.[

Thats true - at least for the Stuttgart match and the 1st set of this one. 2nd set was fatigue on Julia's part. I don't know what the f**k the 3rd set was.

And Woz played terribly for her ussual standard...

But looking at her clay season (well red clay at least) this was her usual standard. Stuttgart wasn't impressive, although she made the final. You could argue that heavy physical training played a part in that - but that's not on anymore. I fear a slump may be coming on - and if she's gonna be a No 1 with consistency as her mayor tool - well - slumps are inadvisible.
Fear the worst but hoping for the transitional thesis stated earlier in the thread.

Come back Woz! :bounce:

Every match Caroline plays the outcome is decided by her opponent. I have no idea why she continues to play like this either, because I have seen her play attacking tennis and it was much more exciting to watch and paid off well too. She and Piotr are very strange...and I feel like the rest of the tour are getting to grips with Wozniacki's game (or lack of), so it wont be long before she's losing to players outside the top 20 on a consistent basis unless she changes things.

Its too early for that kind of all covering statement. Julia is on a good run, and her serve gives Caro lots of trouble.
There's still Rome & RG.

After reading some of the posts from some of th men and boys on this thread,it is clear that some of these people need to cleanse their brain. They speak like kids in high school.

It was not fair that my fav (Georges)being ill and playing the first match on Thursday had to play Wozniacki in the first match today. That is completely wrong knowing that PUSH had a day off yesterday. PUSH deserved the day off based on he rankings, but play the match at night.

If Georges ever plays PUSH healthy with sufficient rest, she will beat PUSH the next time in straight sets.

Right now I feel like I am the happiest person in the world with my fav winning and the PUSH losing.

Julia has to cut down on those unforced errors, but in all fairness she must have been dead tired by set 3 or earlier.

I wish I could be in Germany right now, because people should be celebrating this victory. However,If Julia wins the title in Madrid, does she then become one of the big favorites to win RG? Julia, please win the title in Madrid! Go out and shake up the tennis world. You have made Germany proud of you with your game, class and personality. I love you Julia!

"I did a pretty good match again today and I'm proud of what I have achieved the last few weeks," Goerges, making her debut on the clay in the Spanish capital, said at a news conference.

"I tried to get her out of her rhythm and not let her push me and be the first to push her," she added.

"I like to play higher balls to her backhand especially and if she goes short I have a chance to go for the shots."

I'm really starting to like Julia! Loving her game and she really surprised me pulling this through! If she can keep this up, add me as a fan! :D

Totally agree about the 1st paragraph.

And about the 2nd,well,IDK if Kvitova´s game will ever reach some consistency  but if Petra plays like she did at Wimbledon last year often,Wozniacki is gonna eaten so many one-sided losses

I don't think Petra needs to play her peak form everytime... Take example on Julia... She didn't really play her very best as compared to Stuttgart but she has learnt now to play a certain level of tennis that is good enough even to defeat a Caro at peak... I think this is what Petra hasn't get hold of yet. :)

When she gets it she has absolutely no weaknesses bar her movement but with the way she strikes you're forcefully going to run more than her... So she doesn't care.

It's her won fault. Her tournament schedule is beyond dreadful. :help:

She has to retain that number 1 position somehow .

 Been saying all year that when the clay season comes she'll get trashed and now she is making Görges of all people look decent.

The horrible part of the season has arrived for Caro. Charleston kinda threw sand in people's eyes, but it's obvious that this part of the season can't pass soon enough for Caro.

Shocked.

The Fall Cometh for Wozniacki. Her confidence must be shaken now.

Miss you, Caro. :wavey:

Tough match coming up against Pav tomorrow. I am glad that match is coming up last. I am looking for a tough 3 set match. The best of luck to my fav,Julia Goerges!

I think it's fair to say that Caro's game doesn't fit in Julia's in good form... in Copenhagen it was already the case and Julia wasn't even 100% of her potential yet.

I still think though when Petra Kvitova peaks and will be much more consistent with her game she'll be giving Caro the worst beatings of the tour... It's just a moment of time.

Just like at Wimby last year!

Haha, always good to see our mundane, unrecognizable, unconvincing number one getting a thumping - especially from a non-top ten player twice in a row!

First of all, LMAO at the Wozniacki haters drooling over this loss. Some things never change

Secondly, LOL at the comments saying how there's so much concern over this. Wozniacki has to worry??? No, not really. She played bad, that's why Goerges won. No cause for concern. She has 4000 points already this year, 3 titles, many match wins and is way ahead of everybody else in the rankings :wavey:

Also, it's hilarious to see how many people are bandwagoning Goerges now :haha:

Bye bye haters, she's still #1 and has already done way more than Goerges will do in her entire career.

so truth thank for breaking it down

Here's the last point (including the handshake). It didn't look so bad to me. Caroline was obviously disappointed but I think you guys are building it up into something it's not. The quality is a little fuzzy:

Exactly. People need to stop scrutinizing every gesture on the WTA. That was just a standard handshake, hardly Wickmayer territory:lol:
