Why the title in this shitty mode :sobbing:
Lucie is so talented, everytime she wins I'm not really surprised. Happy she won this :yeah:

Lucie tried her absolute hardest to choke this match away, but JJ wouldn't let her. I don't think I've seen JJ's ground game look so ineffectual.

 Jelena is hopeless these days, no weapons at all. Her backhand down the line is non-existent. She missed a dozen of those today.

Wow...Jelena is getting back to her slump form. ;( On clay...I can't believe that this JJ beat Serena and Venus year ago.

Lucie played amazing though.

Jelena I have no hopes. It seems like her new challenge will be making QF. :sobbing:

Congrats Lucie. ;)

WTH was that from Jelena
firstly, converting on 1/10 in the third set is pathetic for a top 10 player
I'm not saying it was a horrible match because it wasn't, but at times Lucie just ball bashed all over the place, consistently went out wide on the deuce court and Jelena consistetnyl netter her backhand down the line.
Once again another ridiculous loss, in a match she should've won

Geez losing her 4-0 h2h against Woz was bad enough, but now decreasing her one to Lucie on clay, well that just shows how Jelena Jankovic will never win a slam, nor will she get back to her form, because in truth she never had 'form'.
Congrats to Lucie

here's hoping JJ drops from the top 10 for a big wake up call

I feel desperate now.........it feels like the end, too. Endless wasting of chances and losing to just another player she never lost to in the past. Story of her saison so far....and a very sad one.:sad::sad: TOP10 ranking will be history soon....this is the end, my only friend the end.......

Jelena just really needs to get out of the top ten... As opposed to Ana she's frankly overranked and an embarrassement to the WTA.

Observe how all the players she use to own are wiping her off like a mug now.

Well done Lucie. :yeah:

Grats to Lucie.

I don't know what to say. Why do I even bother watching?

Lucie had a lot of trouble with high bounce, but it seems like Jankovic didn't bother much.

I would have been happy either way, but Lucie desperately needed this win to get her season back on track. A close loss again and her confidence would skydive. Flashes of her best form at times, extremely pleased for her. :inlove:

Jelena though seems to be regressing. :o She didn't use her brain often enough to construct points and despite reading the play would still make errors, even when not going for her shots. She needs a kind draw in Rome to get her up and running again.

I can't imagine what she feels like, 'cause I AM devastated. Phew, man. Fick the life.

I don't get as much joy from results like this as I used to, they are just so predictable now. Still, not as bad as losing to Wozniacki on clay.

Jelena lost her magic along the way, trying to get her game to the next level. she did reach the next level. the lower one. only decent tennis she played was last year IW through Wimbledon, after that all is pretty much horrible, with some random luck this season...

Am I the only Jankovic fan who feels not bothered by this at all? I saw the thread and was like :oh: whatever. Ofcourse Safarova is another fave of mine but I'm not too worried about her yet, as long as she wins Rome ;)

JJ's groundgame was nowhere to be found. Like...no where. She had no idea what she was going in the rallies.

Yeah, sure, she can slide back and forth and look nice, but all of her shots were either out by a meter or in the middle of the court, and Lucie just bashed the hell out of those.

The only positive I see from this match; Jelena's first serve. She had about 6 aces, and many first serve winners; I don;t know how much of that was her GOAT serve and how much was Lucie's crappy return game

Anyways, well done, Lucie, good luck in the next round.

We said this always...when she lost in Charleston it was: it doesn't matter she'll win Stuttgart, then after she lost to Petkovic: she'll win Madrid...
I hope she wins Rome or at least make SF/final.

What a bad day..JJ and Maria out.Great.:tape:

May 4th, 2011, 11:36 PM
JJ in trying to improve made her game too complicated, that's the feeling I get. Like watching a young player trying to put it all together, not feeling what's the right shot to go for and when. Now she's got that pretty much useless loopy slice, she goes to the net, trying to mix it up and it does her more harm than good. It's just not her game, and it's not working.

With all that said, from what I saw from todays match Safarova was just too good, surprisingly consistent considering she struggled with an injury and credit to her.

The stats for this match look horrific. :o Kadooz to those of you who endured it.

Can't believe Lucie is already 24. So much talent wasted. It breaks your heart if you stop to think about it. Especially because each match of hers is basically 50/50.

Big congrats to Lucie. First win over Jankovic!!! I remember their match from Wimbledon 2007...EPIC! Really should Lucie deserved to win that match. She was running so fast and so far. At one point Jelena hit a winner after a 20+ shot rally, dropped her racket and just applauded Lucie for her never-give-up attitude!
