2nd serve was a joke :o way to give Jarmila 56 (!) winners.

Aga just set her personal record - 10 aces with 0 DF. 1st serve is officialy improved.

Aga just fell to pieces towards the end. It almost looked like she didn't care anymore. Jarmila deserved the win though. Nice smile at the end.

It seems serving big isn't doing anyone well today!

She has a pretty complete game. Really nice when it's on. She'll be a solid top 20 player for her career with a few big wins.
Where the fuck did Aga get 11 aces from?
Jarka was just teeing off on those 2nd serves.

I am really pleased by Jarmilaīs performance in the second and third set. 56 winners!!

As for Radwanska, she just confirmed the fact that she has the worst and wekest groundtrokes out of players in the top 20.

Disappointed :( Aga didn't do enough to mix it up, she was allowing the match to be played on Gajdosova's terms.

Fully deserved win for Jarka - 56 winners!

Aga you idiot  you had it in a bag. She must really hate Madrid's clay.
How can you serve 10 aces and win only 30% of your 2nd serves? You HAVE TO take a risk on that 2nd serve ffs!

good win for Jarka anyway

OOF, the match turned on a dime with Aga leading 3-0 and break point in that third set. Gajdosova turned on the winner machine and Aga's second serve was basically a free point each time for the Aussie. You had to go for more on that second serve Aga!

:worship:

I just watched the last set. I remember the stats for winners at the beginning of that set were 36-20 for Jarka, and in the end she ended up with 56 :worship:

Agnieszka played excellent in those first 3 games. She dropped her level a bit, Jarka went up and the match was over.

Radwanska's defense was very good overall, and that 1st serve has definitely become a weapon :)

Since this seems to be a frequent mistake, I wanna just point out that "Jarka" is a short for "Jaroslava", but not "Jarmila". At least in the Czech and Slowakian language.

Gajdosova was even bigger hope than Hantuchova here. She has much better game, a bit selfdestructing though. She is definitely TOP 20 material...if Cibulkova can be TOP 15 :weirdo: She was stopped by multiple injuries in the past. Iīm always saying that Slovakia lost a next big thing, not a slam winner or Nr 1 but I think she will have similar, probably better career as Hantuchova.

Of course everything need a time, maybe she will lose next round and maybe she will struggle in the rest of the seasson, but she has still a looot of time.

No, seriously. I like her, but Top 10 is too much for her. Just think she lost to Niculescu last week in Estori. i can agree with Top 20, but no more...
Well, Cibulkova made a GS SF, that's why she reached Top 15. She's now back where she deserves to be :p

SVK
May 3rd, 2011, 06:11 PM
You canīt look at who she beat or who she lost, all players have bad loses, just look at Ivanovic or Safina, they lost to players outside TOP 180 and TOP 200 when they were Nr 1...everyone can lose to anyone when he has a bad day or slump and especially when we are talking about players which didnīt peak yet and Gajdosova still wasnīt peaking you canīt say if she deserves to be TOP 10, 15, 20 or not just because she lost to some worse players:shrug:

As I wrote before Jarka will have many such bad loses, she will probably lose many matches against players outside TOP 100, but just time will show us how good she is, and I still think Jarimla is far away from her peak right now.

I didn't said that she deserves, by now, a top 10 place. I only said that she can defeat any 11-20 player and even some top 10 (she already defeat this year Stosur, Schiavone and Radwanska from top 10). She only lacks consistence and concentration. In her match against Niculescu she completly lost her focus and started to make tons of UEs. But that is something that she has been improving, that doesn't happen so often nowadays. But overall I think that she is clearly a top 20 player by now.

:spit: Gajdosova was actually a player I started to like after watching in person. She has major groundies and a booming serve. it mus have been the case where she was on. Radwanska can't stand a chance against power like that.

ehm...no. My schoolmateīs name was Jarmila and everyone has been calling her Jarka.

There is no reason why Jarka can go only for Jaroslava and not for Jarmila. Itīs a nice way to say both names.

Possible is Jarmilka, too. But no one really says it like that.

Only saw it from 3-3 all in the third, but Gajdosova was just thundering the most ineffectual second serves away at will. That final 3 games was impressive in how Gajdosova totally took the game away from Radwanska, not allowing her anytime to dig into her well of resources or try and extend the rallies in anyway. A bit of a schooling in the end. Just shows how underpowered Radwanska is even on this surface.

I never envisaged Gajdosova having any kind of temperament/inherent skills for clay, but her game seems to be translating surprising well. Her serve is still a potent weapon on any surface, able to pick her spots well enough to set up relatively simpler patterns of play for her. Good stuff.

Aga's second serve was basically a free point each time for the Aussie. You had to go for more on that second serve Aga!

Pusher mentality - overriding concern is not to give any free points away to your opponent, so a puffball 2nd serve is always seen as preferable to risking a DF by actually trying to do something with it other than getting it in.
