I always thought Moscow and Zurich should have been 64 draws. I guess there just weren't enough courts with it being indoors!

I remember when Yanina (rank14) had to play in quali in AO :spit:

But we know why she had to do something like this

I think it would be Filderstadt, it was a VERY packed tournament.

Radwanska was 35th in the world, when she has to play qualies (no. 1 seed) in Zurich 2008.

And Aga didn't forgot to enter in 2008 Dubai. She was around 28-30 in rank when the cut-off to Dubai that year was closed.

Aga didn't forget to enter then. However she might have been like 25-30 when the cut-off was done. Afterwards she reached Australian Open QF and made herself top20.

plenty of Courts for Moscow, thats why its a joint event.
you could easily get another 10 courts in that complex. they use 4 plus 1 for practice

Also Bogota used to have very low cut off. Wasn´t Duque Marino last accepted player sth around 190-200 (it says on WTA that she was 143rd but the cut off was before and she had a thunderous rise) and she still won it? I wonder if Duque is the lowest ranked player directly in a MD WTA (not WC or Q) who won the tournament.

I haven't collected cut-off stats but below are the ranks of the top 4 seeds in all Internationals in 2010.

The top-seed Jarmila Groth (now Gajdosova) won her first WTA title in Guangzhou (http://www.wtatennis.com/SEWTATour-Archive/Archive/Draws/2010/1023.pdf) and only lost 15 games in 5 matches. It sounds more impressive when you don't know she was the only top-75 player and didn't meet a seed.

Highest cut off would be 21 for a 32MD with 4 qualifiers, 4 byes, and 3 WCs. To see a cutoff of #22 is crazy. The one missing must have been a Williams Sister.

Lisicki and who withdrew? Sharapova?

No top 20 player did take a wild-card, so "next in" players Hantuchova and Safarova did get directly in instead.
