Sabine Lisicki looking for success in the Middle East
Lisicki signs autographs for her fans before the tournament matches get underway.
Sabine Lisicki hasn't had the amazing start to her second season on tour that she did during her breakout year. She racked up the points throughout the Australian rebound ace season, and then performed well in Dubai by making the semifinals. This year she has failed to defend most of those valuable points thus far and will be looking to get her game going again as a slue of new players join the tour this week. The only real positive result for Lisicki was a semifinal (might have been quarterfinal) result in at the Paris Indoors tournament right after Fed Cup. Lisicki was part of the European national Fed Cup team alongside Caroline Wozniacki and Marta Domachowska who happened to reach the final but unfortunately couldn't claim the victory. No Lisicki is in Doha and will be playing one of the qualifiers who was moved into the main draw after the sudden retirement of quite a few players. Sabine will hope to impose a powerful game and successfully claim a few more rankings point to once again claim up the rankings ladder.
I think I was lucky to have played so well at the beginning of last season, but then with my injuries and inactivity I just couldn't continue my climb up the rankings. Now I'm back, feeling 100 percent and I want to win. It's hard to lose so much, but I can only get better and I believe I am getting better with each and every match I play. I had a tough draw last week and couldn't defeat Gisela but took the match to three sets so there's always something positive to take away from every match. I'm hoping to go out there and play my best tennis and impose my game. Hopefully I'll get the results I'm looking for, but if not there's always next week!

BARTOLI ANGRY WITH NTT OFFICIALS
In a recent tweet, French Tennis Player issued an utter and blatant disappointment with NTT Tour Officials after her unjustified withdrawal from the Qatar Ladies Open. "HOW DARE NTT OFFICIALS WITHDRAW ME FROM THE QATAR LADIES OPEN...I WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS ! #Angry" another tweet followed, "This is assasinine, I would like an apology for the foolishness."
It is very uncommon to see Bartoli angry, so it shall be interesting to see the response from the NTT Players and Officials, in the coming days.
Sabine Lisicki and Samantha Stosur shared a rare moment after their opening round match in Doha which is captured in the photo above. The two player fought hard from beginning to end, but ultimately it was the more experienced German who dug out the victory in the third and final set. The opening set was quite an affair with most of the set remaining tied on serve, and when there was a break it was short lived as the match remained level throughout until the tiebreaker. Something in Lisicki's game just proved too much for Stosur and Lisicki easily won seven points in a row to take the first set 7-6(0). But the match was far from over as it seemed that Stosur was the more confident player during the opening stages of the second set. There was an early break that Stosur refused to relinquish and Lisicki was left fighting with no avail. The third set was nothing but stunning form from Lisicki, while Stosur seemed to have lost the fire power she showed in the first two sets. Lisicki would cruise to victory in the final set 6-2 and take the match against Stosur 7-6(0), 4-6, 6-2. Next up for Lisicki is the talented Czech Petra Kvitova. The two have never met before so it will be an interesting affair for the first time opponents.
I really felt the nerves out there today. Stosur has a great clay court game and I knew going into the match that if I didn't get the first strike Stosur certainly would and that would leave me having to scrap my way through the match. I think we both played really well for two solid sets of tennis and I was very lucky to have dominated the first set tiebreaker the way that I did, but then I could tell that she raised her level and unfortunately I couldn't match it until later in the match. By the third set I was ready to go, I wanted the win so badly and I was determined to stay out there all day if that's what it took. Stosur seemed sluggish and not as fresh and I took advantage of that weakness and started to open up the court and really go after my shots. I'm excited for the win, and I think I can really go far here in Doha. My game finally feels like it is coming together slowly but surly. Kvitova is a power player and she'll be an extremely tough opponent, but I think I can handle her and hopefully I'll move farther along in this draw in Doha.

Bojana short Statement:
Excited to play Mirjana! Beat her in Semi's before winning AO so I hope I can repeat!
It would appear that Sabine Lisicki is headed back in the right direction as she has now reached her second quarterfinal of the year here in Doha. This is a first time event on the tour, so everyone is gaining points this week and Lisicki will be looking to gain a boost as she recently lost 350 points for not reaching the semifinals once again in Dubai last week. Today Lisicki won a tough two set match over another powerful young player, Petra Kvitova. The pair were neck and neck throughout the opening set and much like first round match against Stosur, Lisicki dominated the tiebreaker that eventually ensued. Lisicki carried the momentum right into the second set and would grab a break of serve almost immediately to eventually close out the match 76(2) 64. Next up for Lisicki will be Nicole Vaidisova who has also shown some really great play this week. They are both baseline ball bashers, so we'll see who comes out on top when these two hit the courts later today.

Sabine  The only writing articles :hysteric:
After a tight win over Pivovarova how do you feel now?
Yes i do feel good, a bit tired. It was a tough one.
Now you did get lucky, like in almost every set
Yes  I did hit the net courts a few times, got hawkeye in a few times just was my lucky day.
Now, your round one match with the seventh seed Venus was even tighter how did you get through that?
Oh man that was so tight, i was so exhausted during the whole match, managed to get through it just playing my best. I also got very lucky like on Match Point and Set Point just sad it didnt end up with my winner.
Your next round opponent Wozniak how confident are you?
Well im quite confident she has also had a few tough matches hopefully i can win it in straight sets, these three setters have really been pushing my limit and i need to win them more easily.
Okay, so Jarka, everybody knows about your split with your ex-husband, how are you coping?
Well yes of course it is tough, as you all know ive taken my last name back, and another news i did not marry Sam to become Australian, i loved him and we had a few problems and broke up
Okay, sorry to ask you that questio, youve also been holding snakes?
Yes, lol that was very scary, i dont like snakes but i face my fear, with Juan Ignacio Chela.

Lisicki Reaches the Semifinals for First Time This Season
Sabine Lisicki has made her first semifinal of the season at the Qatar Ladies Open in Doha. Yesterday she took on probably the most powerful player on tour, Nicole Vaidisova, and in another tough match, Lisicki came out on top. This week has been tough for Lisicki, but lately she'd managed to keep her matched down to two sets and yesterday was no different. The opening set saw great play from both individuals as they traded some intense baseline rallies. Vaidisova was spraying more errors than Lisicki and in the end that was the reason that she was unable to hold it together in the final stages of the opening set. The second set saw Lisicki step up her game and leave Vaidisova behind. The match lasted almost two hours, and for a two set match that shows how competitive this match up truly was. Lisicki has promised us a special interview is she makes the final, so let's hope Lisicki is able to take out one of her frequent doubles partners, Laura Robson in their semifinal match later today.
