This her 1st match since Stuttgart, losing 10 games in a row?
Vika's section getting easier.

I really can't believe that this was the same Parra who barely kept any balls in play against Cabeza in Barcelona

Andrea hit too many errors and forgot that she is playing on clay. The surface is very fast in Madrid, but some more slices or drop shots to break the rythm of the Spanish would have done well... :o

Tough battle. Some proper claycourt tennis being played out there and in the end, the better player prevailed.

Another proof that in WTA there's not a lot of players who are able to play more than one tournament in quite high level.

I watched the whole match: Arantxa has been amazing, she plays a great tennis, what a pity she has some empty moments like this month who was before Madrid.
Good luck against Vika, I don't care who will win this match. Congrats Arantxa!

Petkovic worked really hard to get into a lead in that second set, disappointing she couldn't keep up the positive momentum and force a third set. :(

She's a player on the rise, I don't think you should worry too much about it.

And there is no shame in losing this one, the way Santonja played.

Didnīt see this match but it sound like Parra finally found a way how to keep the ball in.

Yes I know Parra played well but I'd have liked for Andrea to be more decisive when she had some parts of the match in hand...

I'm not really deceived though Andrea's season has been good for now... She'll pick up in Rome... Parra will have the 3rd. round points in Madrid but must/will lose to Victoria. :p

Parra-Santonja played very well, but the speed of this court helped her out tremendously. I'm not saying Petkovic is some great defender or anything (quite the contrary, she has horrible defensive skills), but I don't think I've seen a faster clay court than this. Even the green clay of Charleston seems slower to me.

Expecting another  winner in 2011.

3rd top20 win in Parra's career, first since she got back to top100 in 2009 :bounce:

#14 Magdalena Maleeva in Warsaw
#15 Andrea Petkovic in Madrid
#20 Francesca Schiavone in Amelia Island

Hopefully she gets her 1st top 10 win very soon :D

They're showing a rerun of that on Eurosport-2 right now and to me Petkorazzi lookes unstable and volatile when she does her sliding (it looks kinda like as if she's about to skid and crash into the boards any minute

Petkovic didn't play that bad in the 2nd set (the only I saw actually) But Arantxa was awesome, big serves, big flat groundstrokes, I love that anti-Spaniard-clayespecialist game she has :inlove:

It seems like Petko is just collapsing every time something goes wrong. I don't think she had one easy service game.

APS played really well. She totally deserved to win this. Imagine her doing a Goerges here.

I am not happy that Petkovic played the way she did. It seemed like Arantxa had Andrea on the run most of the time. Petkovic did not do very much with her serve to push Parra back off the baseline. It's sad to say that Andrea did deserve to lose this game.
