Gunther Parche should be at the top of every list like this.

Helen Kelesi

THIS!!! :rocker2:

Hurricane Helen leads da bunch and makes all contemporary villains look like bloody amateurs.

In November 1993, veteran Pam Shriver, mulling retirement, began pulling away from Kelesi in the second set of a match in Quebec City, only to find her concentration fraying as Kelesi kept stopping play to argue calls. "She was going nuts," Shriver says. "Delay after delay after delay. She was being so dramatic." Kelesi saved two match points and forced a tiebreaker. Shriver snapped. She saw Kelesi's coach talking and yelled at him to shut up. Kelesi yelled back and began to cry. Kelesi won the tiebreaker, but with the third set looming, Shriver simply left the court, walked to the club bar and ordered a drink. She had no intention of going back out to play. No one had ever pushed Shriver so far. The tournament director urged Shriver to come back, saying, "You don't want to end your career this way." Kelesi beat her 6-3 in the third.

"She almost drove me to drink," Shriver says with a laugh. "And here's the best part: When it was over she was absolutely booed off the court in her home country."

Patricia Mayr should at least make the list.

Gunther Parche should be at the top of every list like this.

Jim Pierce and Damir Dokic.
I reckon the intention of this thread was villains, not downright criminals.
It goes without saying any player (or umpire), mean and rude as may be, cannot be compared to these trio.

Navratilova. Her behaviour on court was obnoxious. Especially when she played against Chris Evert. It was like a war between good and evil because they were such opposites.
Henin is close but was a villain in a more subtle and vicious way.

Martina Navratilova was much hated in het prime. People also forget Monica was this obnoxious teen loud screamer stealing all these slams from the much beloved Steffi. Monica wad much hated before the stabbing, I think a lot of people forget that.

What was so upsetting with this match and those points is that Capriati had clear view of all of those calls. And while it was not her place to say correct the linesperson or chair for her to say after in her on court interview that she deserved some luck so she happily took the points (not her exact words) was pure evil.

Listen, I'm not gonna put players with a couple of incidents in the list (for example Capriati or Rodionova), they must have done remarkable things to be there.

If something like that had really happened, wouldn't she be disqualified like Rodionova who only hit the wall below the spectators taunting her?

Abusing a child doesn't really fly in my book

The whole story is totally mysterious and many things about that were hyped by media. I'm not defending him, he has some serious issues, that's evident. But, even if he is a villain, I'm not sure if he's the only villain in that story. One thing is for sure. She's a victim.

That was 11 years ago and it was on everywhere. You can find it on Google.

I've seen a majority of posters in one of those match threads admit their first tennis match was 2006 or later.

Alves :o Can't believe she still umpiring.

Serena played a stupid last game though.Poor approach at 30-30, return into the net etc...and she was too passive overall.Even with the bad calls she could have comeback had she played better.

disco_rage
May 1st, 2011, 08:46 AM
Those calls against Serena were obviously disgraceful and as much as I love Jennifer that match is not her finest hour but Serena could have still won that match and people talk like it's the only match ever were people have had horrendous line calls against them, before hawkeye, it happened all the time at almost every tournament and it still happens now when there are tournaments without hawkeye!

Also, the benefit of tv replays, different tv angles etc give us the viewer a different perpestive. Now saying that Alves should not still be umpireing that's for sure, the worst call particulary, I mean did she just make a mistake and was too embarrassed to change her mind? I guess we will never know!
