The problem is that Birnerova retired, so it's hard to tell if she was really injured or retired because of brain injury... :o

Petkovic's implosion against Pushniacki in Stuttgart was quite "impressive" too...second set was a comedy show, with german slicing the ball into the middle of the court for dane to put the ball easily away:facepalm:

I think Stosur had 3 break points at 3-0 3rd set 40-0.

I think Date-Krumm was up a double break at 4-1 3rd against Aga in the 1st round of the Australian Open and I think Kuznetsova was up a double break in the 3rd set (either 3-0 or 4-1) against Peng in the 2nd round of Auckland.

Kiri led 6-1 5-2 against Voskoboeva with 3 match points on her serve at 5-4 2nd set and led 3-1 3rd set in the 2nd round of Pattaya City.

Whoaaa thatīs a looong list:eek:

But I think not all were chokes, wasting minor leading, even when you are break up or you are serving for set and you fail isnīt exactly choking (especially when itīs your opponent who is playing good at the moment), thatīs usual in tennis.

Wozniacki-Li in Melbourne. Close the thread.

It hasn't been mentioned as often because it was more like Li remembering how to play the tennis that she had been playing for the past week rather than Caroline having a mental lapse. I would think it would have to do more with Caroline getting tired + Li starting to hit the ball.

Clijsters vs Li in Sydney would be a much much better example, 5-0 lead and just playing shit with the opponent playing the same level of tennis the whole match.

Most beautiful choke: Pushniacki vs. Li in Melbourne :hearts:

That wasn't a choke. Li was terrible, under her head finally snapped into gear.

I still take Ana's over McHale's McFailure.
I didnt see either match, but Ivanovic's had to be a classic because she adds the over the top body language after every point

Tearful McHale 'panics,' lets go of 5-0 lead in 3rd

May 23, 2011

U.S. teenager Christina McHale lets go of a 5-0 lead in the third set against Italy's Sara Errani and falls 6-7(4), 6-2, 9-7 in the first round of Roland Garros. McHale said that had never happened to her before, even in the juniors. "I started rushing when she won a couple of games and I felt like it was slipping away and I couldn't stop it," a tearful McHale said. "I just panicked and didn't take my time. I was feeling something in my leg and I wanted to close it out quickly and I stopped thinking and I was just trying to end it. I'm not stunned because I know anything can happen in tennis. but I'm upset and disappointed in myself."

The veteran Errani said that the reason she didn't give in down 5-0 was because she recalled that McHale appeared tense in the first set tiebreaker. "Her way of thinking worked McHale said. "She didn't give me anything. It feels awful now, but hopefully in a couple of days I'll be able to take something from this so it won't happen again."
