Dulgheru is really bad now if she loses to that journeywoman on clay.

Kvitova was actually serving for the set at 5-2, but then got broken.

Well done!

Well done, Petra. It could have been even easier, since she lead 5:1 in the first set.

Dulgheru is really bad now if she loses to that journeywoman on clay.

Kvitova is actually not that bad on clay; after all, she was in the 4th round at RG in 2008, when she was just 18 years old.

But Alexandra on clay is by far the better player.
First Candle Head, not Kvitova... say goodbye to Top 30 Dulgh.

As of now, she has certainly better results on clay. But there┤s absolutely no reason why Kvitova could not achieve good results on clay in the near future. After all, Lucie Safarova is a very good clay-courter and she and Petra are very similar type of players.

And she beat Zvonareva 6-4, 6-0 last year!

But still it was her first match on clay and Alexandra should have done it a bit more competitive...

This is a surprising result I actually don't know what's going on with Dulgheru, after Miami I thought she would have another good clay court season. Bad since she has lots of points to defend in the upcoming events. Good win for Kvitova, I think once she manages to win 2 or 3 matches she's becoming very dangerous again. She's just fragile in opening matches.

Dulgeru, you better wait for Miami next year, 'cause you are becoming a Miami Hard GOAT. :p

Well Kvitova's game really doesn't depend on the surface at all. No matter where she plays, if she hits that ball hard enough, deep enough, and consistently enough, she'll win points. You don't necessarily have to play clay court tennis (Rezai) to win a big title

If Kvitova is playing well, she's going to beat Dulgheru anywhere. Petra hits into the corners & comes to net behind it. When they go in, that works on any surface.

Is there some hint to Flavia? :oh:

Well, at first he should teach her how to keep up a decent serve over more than one set... :sobbing:

Urpi helped Flavia to improve her fh,serve and how to play on hard but her clay results didn't really improve
probably Alex feels a bit of pressure because of the pts to defend

Not really surprising if you are only playing the big events so far this year with some expected 1st round exits on hard before the Urpi era :oh: (except the 2 clay MMs where she retired herself in Marbella after two marathon matches in a row and the one Barcelona where she has already packed for Madrid)

Bogota, Acapulco or Fes wouldn't have been a wrong choice... :o

And forehand and serve need to be improved definitely! :sobbing:

As if Dulgheru deserves to be top 30. She's irrelevant 3/4 of the season anyway.

Well Kvitova's game really doesn't depend on the surface at all. No matter where she plays, if she hits that ball hard enough, deep enough, and consistently enough, she'll win points.

Not really true as she's a first strike player and her serve is only effective on faster surfaces. On slower courts, she fails to get that first strike in often enough because her serve is unreliable and lacking in raw pace, and is forced to play rallies, someting at which she has improved a bit but still sux.

Good and unexpected win regardless.
