I really feel sad about that ,believe me I'm always a well wisher to Monica Seles as well as Steffi.

We don't support Gunther Parche anywhere, her fans have right to say she's No.1,similarly we have our reasons to say my player is No.1.

But so many of tennis fans stabbed us with words.Steffi never a direct reason for the incident, but she never comment on anyone, because her fan-ship was a reason for that. She also mentioned in 2004 HOF.
Steffi met Monica in tears in hospital next day after the incident ,but nobody understood how many times Steffi tried to meet Monica later days, but Seles never give a chance to do so.
Even at the time of 1999 AO,Seles answers to reporter questions show a negative impressions, but later she understood they both different persons and at the time of retirement, her answers in positive and i like her all answers at the time.

But now i believe Monica likes Steffi than before.

and believe me She never lost top players status in our hearts and so many people waiting for their exhibition matches. I too, what about you?

It's a tragedy for sure. He ruined what would have become the greatest career of all time. But instead of remembering the incident, we should celebrate Monica, who made it through all of this adversity with grace, dignity, and spirit intact. She's an amazing lady and a true fighter. Gunther Parche can't take away from that.

The "paradox" of this story is that in the end Parche did hurt Graf too

Yes, she won more slams but

1) He denied one the most exciting rivarly in tennis history

2) He basically put a "virtual" asterisk on those Slams because people will always say "IF Seles wouldn't have been stabbed....."

3) I'm sure Graf didn't enjoy it either

yes,but Steffi was also not in fighting spirit b/w 1990 april to 1992 because of her dad problems.(please don't say like 'this is life.everyone has problems...'.I know this is life, but she effected with that problem at the time. But she matured and didn't show same type of effect in 1995)

I just say don't start fights again on here.

Too painful to watch. Who knows what Monica would have accomlished if not for this? I am so glad that Steffi never reached Margaret Court's record, that would have been just too unfair.

Even though many fans of Tennis don't see this as a big thing I see it as the turning point of Seles' dominance on Tennis world back then and a point where Seles wasn't the same anymore and couldn't be the same anymore .

If this wouldn't have happened god knows with how many slams Seles would own now. Steffi must have felt the luckiest player in the world knowing that a player who dominated her during her prime years and won everything over her got stabbed and would never return as she was on the tour.

Sad day really .

Steffi and Monica are both GREAT no matter what! Life is unfair at times. The saddest part of the story is the fact that what would have been tennis's greatest rivalry was stopped just like that.

I started watching tennis because of Monica when I was a kid. I was 8 when it happened, so I remember that day clearly. After that I couldn't watch tennis few years until Dokic appeared. It's been 18 years since that but it's still hard to believe that things like that can actually happen. Just awful!

I think everybody agrees that it's the greatest tennis tragedy. And everybody agrees that Seles wasn't the same after the stabbing.:tape:

WTA proposed to freeze her ranking. No one agreed, except for Gabriela Sabatini, a great example of person.

Yeah it's beyond me that Graf didn't agree on that. That's the least she could have done. What a bitch. Eventually Seles' ranking was frozen at #1 (co #1) for a few months.

This. It's hard even to think about that, but she was lucky to survive actually.

Sabatini's supposed to be one of the nicest and down to earth players to ever play. A true class act. Graf, Martinez and ASV on the other hands

Monica  What a tragedy that was. That idiot has robbed tennis fans all over the world of a whole different tennis history.
I feel privilaged just for having been able to witness her tennis career develop before my eyes.
8 GS titles by the age of 20.
She is a living legend.
