I don't know where her final in Acapulco came from , but apart from that, Arantxa hasn't won a match so yeah ...I'm disappointed by that and would take 3 2nd round and 2 QFs over a final and 7 1st round losses ...

Out of the people that everyone has posted, id say Jankovic. Jankovic has too much natural talent to not eventually win a grand slam. When you see people like Myskina and schiavone winning slams, its really weird to see people like jankovic not. But that somewhat is a showing that she has mental issues during the most important points in grand slams. Her best shot was at the US Open Final against Serena, and she just didnt have enough capability to break through Serena. I think that match is largely why Jankovic tried to beef her game up. She realized that when at her best, she still wasnt really able to do alot to Serena, and it worried her. But the thing she needed to understand is that Serena, when on, is about impossible to beat, no matter how imposing or special your game is.

Alexa Glatch. Every time she starts to make a little noise she gets hurt or sick or something happens. I really had such high hopes for her a few years ago. I've toned them down a lot, but I'd just like to see the poor kid play a full season and have a few good things happen for her.

Kuznetsova always had an ugly game, in my opinion, even when she was at her top form. She honestly overachieved to manage to get 2 grand slams. Im amazed she stayed around as long as she did, honestly. Her best attribute was always her physicality in my opinion. She could wear people out similar to how Nadal is able to... only Nadal hits his strokes alot better. But you have to remember the marathon match at the aussie that Kuznetsova lost to schiavone.... that had to have some sort of a mental mark. You dont stay in a match that long to lose it, thats for sure.

Did Julia beat Vika in Stuttgart?

And thats a wrap for me.

A question by another more embarassing question... Brilliance. :yeah:

Considering that both girls were a set down (Marion 3-6 3-1... Julia 4-6) then logic wants a (very naive) person to end things with that both are flukes.

But considering that Julia confirmed by beating back to back world #7 and Wallsniacki #1 that GoatToli herself wasn't abled to do to win the event...

Then the only person standing as a fluke here is Marion... and on these words of wisdom we can yes wrap this up.

Certainly but Alizé's slump has mainly played a role in her progression considering how early she "peaked".

It's indeed harder to progress on technical aspects without the confidence... and it can even deteriorates more.

Alizé is the frenchie with the most potential... all court, physically, tennistically... she is in all ways superior to Marion than the achievements for now.

Why are people comparing Alize and Marion. Alize has never done anything close to what Marion has achieved. And as for talent, Marion has a better forehand, backhand, serve, and is more consistent. It's not difficult to see why she's been able to win a lot more.

Believe me... Alizé has and can have a very good all court game... defense, offense and can help out herself in the forecourt... Alizé can withstand with the power hitters... can vary the game...

Alizé can be good on any surface including clay and all I only care one day is to finally see a frenchie hold the RG trophey one day... Bartoli ain't doing so never. Bartoli would need some God-like luck to get passed girls like Vika, Petra, Vera, Caro... EVEN Radw etc... to ever do something in a major (again).

Pretty much spot on. Poor Cornet doesnt do anything really all that well at all, except moving her feet. But Clay has a
weird way of sometimes allowing people with not that much talent to advance far if they have reasonable movement. Look at
who was in the semifinal of the FO in 2002 against Venus Williams..... anyone recognize that player? Because I dont. But
she still somehow managed a SF run at a grandslam... No suprise to me that Cornet's success has been largely on clay...
and nothing else.

Ana Ivanovic, but it's her abdominal muscles injury fault.
She started so well in Perth, then we had to walkover from that finals because of her injury, and after that, everything was going down for her.
She was supposed to make a big comeback this year, so far, but she hasn't commited to it. Her injury is threatening her game so much and she can't do her best. :sobbing:

Not to be mean.. but I think Ivanovic's time has passed her. She will probably be a reasonable player for the remainder of her career, but I dont know that she will ever win another grand Slam. She has talent... but nothing that just comes out at you and says "damn! this girl is good!" Her forehand is nice... yes.... but Id argue that Kim has a superior forehand when on... Kim has less margin for error with her stroke production... but ive seen her absolutely rip some forehands, plus she moves better, has a better backhand, etc.

Ivanovic REALLY needs to increase her movement if she is gonna threaten the top ever again. Everyone seems to think she moves best on clay... and if that is the case... maybe thats the entire reason right there as to why she has done good on clay.... her biggest weakness gets a "boost" on that surface. She still looks like a cow skating on ice while playing on the dirt, in my opinion, but whatever :).

Not to be mean, but you're either 12 or you clearly haven't seen her play. And I don't know what Ivanovic clay matches you've watched, but she moves beautifully on the dirt. But I love the cow on ice comment! So original! :D

And I think it's a little premature to declare Ana a has-been at 23. After all, Kim didn't win her first slam till she was 22, and she is clearly the barometer to which all players (past, present, and future) should be compared
