Back in the day (Graf, etc) were there top players who were coached by their parents?

Do you mean coached illegally during matches, or trained by their parents? Evert and Seles were trained by their fathers. Whereas back in the eighties, tennis didn;t pay well enough for most players to have a traveling coach.

Graf, Pierce, Capriati, Seles, Serena, Venus, Hingis. Most of the GS winners had parents as coach.

I know MJFernandez had a coach who wasn't a parent, but I can't remember who coached Sabbatini. I don't think it was a relative.

Graf was taught by her father, but was ultimately coached by Klaus Hofsass when she won the slam and Heinz Gundhardt.

Mary Joe Fernandez has been coached by Harold Salomon (a former top 5 player) for a longer period of time. He also worked with Jannifer Capriati and recently with Shahar Peer IIRC.
Steffi Graf's coach before Günthardt was Pavel Slozil. He worked with her when she won her Golden Slam.

Gaby was coached by Pato Fidalgo (forming years), Pato Apey (Junior years/pro), Angel Gimenez (Mary Pierce), Carlos Kirmayr, Dennis Ralston (Chris Evert), Guillermo Vilas, Kirmayr again and Juan Nuñez (Evert, ASV). Billie Jean King said that Gaby asked her to coach her when she (Gaby) was changing coaches but it never took off.
