Yanina def. Zahlavova Strycova 64 64:D The last game was the peak of the match as the commentator kept saying, though the stream froze for me every time each of them won the point:help:

Sunday vs Kvitova. come on!

vs Kvitova 75 46 26:sobbing:

Nice match overall. In the 2nd set Yanina had 5 BPs, couldn't convert any. Kvitova had just 1, used it and it made the difference. In 3rd there was not much left in the tank it seemed:[
Really a shame, I find Kvitova quite annoying at times:(

Meanwhile in Stuttgart:
Wozniacki vs BYE
Wickmayer vs qualifier
Petkovic vs qualifier
Kvitova vs Jankovic

In other threads it was posted that Schiavone and Nina WD from Stuttgart. They are still in the draw though according to the official tournament website and WTA site :scared:

I'm pretty sure Wickmayer won't play. She looked pretty tired during the FC doubles, and she got a very bad draw in Stuttgart (2R against Wozniacki, possibly followed by Kvitova/Jankovic). It's probably a good decision to take a week off and rest that knee.

Missed the week-end Fed Cup action because I was sick, but so gutted Yanina and Belgium lost :(

Madrid Draw, Yanina's quarter

Sharapova vs Rus
Makarova vs Wickmayer
Szavay vs Pironkova
Cibulkova vs Kuznetsova

Not a bad draw, considering everything:D

I hope the match against Sharapova will take place.

Good luck!

GL Nina! :bounce:
She will play tomorrow vs. Makarova ;)

I am dying to see her live :sobbing:. I saw her practice at the US Open but she was so far away so I could see her hitting the ball from far away and I could see from her racket that it was her but I couldn't really tell so I went closer but the court is surrounded by trees so I couldn't see her but I could hear her grunts and then I knew for sure that it was her and then I went back to where I was before and I watched a little more but then I left because I couldn't really tell what was going on :(. But hopefully this year I'll get to go to one of her matches :D

Dorien.

I´m back!Got to say I enjoyed my time despite Yanina´s loss.

On Sunday I saw her entering in the practice court I was.I asked her a photo, but she said "later".She was hitting with Safarova.I went to other courts in order to see who were there and when I came,Yanina had already left so I couldnt get that photo

Then I went to her match.I thought she would win and I would get a chance to get that photo, but things didnt go the way I liked, which was a pity :(
What can I say?Makarova was in GOAT mode when serving, she would get a quick 40-0 lead hitting always an ace or two in the process. She was also hitting big winners off the ground.Yanina didnt have a answer for those serves. Also,Makarova would always finish her service games hitting an ace.It was really annoying.Yanina was also making lot´s of UEs,and she even seemed to give up when down *35 *0/30,but she fought through that game saving 2MPs and was also down *5-4 *40-15(2MPs) but hit a big return winner off a 1st serve.Even Makarova was impressed,I think .The Russian needed 5MPs,but won on ace,as always :o

Yanina didnt really seemed pissed, she didnt slap Makarova´s hand

I got point by point notes,if anyone is interested I´ll upload it.Will have to find out the player´s ratio :)

And also got some photos but I´m a messy photographer,so they´re not great :o.Will upload them later im the pictures thread.

And that´s all,I think.Hope my report will clarify things about the match. Also questions and everything you want to know will be asked,if possible :)

Was she taped from anywhere? (I ask just in case)

What other matches did you watch?

No,her leg seemed to be fine since she didnt port any tapes on it :D

Well,I didnt watch too many matches, only Daniela,Yanina,a bit(3-4 games) of Mirza-Vesnina and the doubles of Kuznetsova/Zvonareva :p.I spent most of the time in the practice courts because I love to watch the players training and then asking for photos

GL Yanina! :bounce:

Domi is a huge favorite here, but Nina always seems to do well with tough draws. Like in AO 2010 with Pennetta in R2, or Indian Wells 2011 with Oudin, Kanepi, Cibulkova, and Peer :)

2. Anabel Medina Garrigues vs. Patty Schnyder
3. Polona Hercog vs. Alexandra Dulgheru
4. Marion Bartoli vs. Arantxa Parra Santonja

#kArLoS#

harder than it should have been but she beat Kerber 46 63 63 :yeah:

Yanina was in GOAT mode on serve after getting broken to lose the 1st set, didnt face a Bp since then  :cheer:

However she had quite a lot of problems to return Kerber´s 2nd serve  .Whatever,a win is a win,and I am looking forward to her r2,she will face either Petrova or Ivanovic. In both cases,it will be their first meeting :)

So-so happy with this win! Especially after the horrendous 1st set, where she spray errors all over.

Next: Wozniacki or Rodionova.

Ivanovic is so annoying ugh,so glad Yanina beat her :cheer:.She didnt play that well(19W/40UEs) but who cares? :)

Hope she beats Wozniacki,it´s about time.If she chokes again,I´ll kill her :tears:

BTW yet again her BPs won were a huge mess: 3/13 :help:.She needs to improve that, quickly

WhoAmI?
May 11th, 2011, 07:02 PM

Yanina is usually a very tough cookie but today i think she should have felt and noticed that Caroline was doubting herself at 4-5 down and at 5-6 down and she should have played with a little bit more caution. She played some bad shots at those moments wich have cost her a possible 3rd set.
Who knows what could have happened in the third.
By the way, I find that commentator on livescorehunter David Mercer a bit annoying and lets openly shine through who his favourites are. I felt like he didn't talk with a lot of respect for Nina.
Usually he idolizes all the English speaking players and of course his sweetheart Caroline. I think Annabel Croft is a much more fair commentator.

May 12th, 2011, 08:15 PM
Yanina tried and tried but even the netcords were against her :o.Still proud of her and the tournament she´s made, and also agree she could have done more on *45 *15-30 and *56 *15-30 on Wozniacki´s serve in the 2nd set,but...

She saved 3MPs fearlessly with 3 winners before falling to a good serve that gave Wozniacki the match. She needs rest, and hope she does well at home :hearts:

WhoAmI?
May 12th, 2011, 10:12 PM
1st set was just :help:

But in 2nd set Wozniacki got to see that not everyone give up when down a set and a break against her:D

At times Yanina played brainless:o all court open, and still hits the ball straight to where Wozniacki stands. Sometimes she could escape with it, but other times dragged her back and eventually lost the point. Try to be more unpredictable:(

Actually I'm happy with the performance, after 1st set it looked likely it'll be a washout. And I also didn't think Yanina was in good form before Rome. Getting better and better for RG:) Also, she was positive out there, smiling, good to see. And friendly handshake (now no one talks about the handshakes after her match, wonder why:lol:)

But she'll be back in top 20 after RG :)So what? It only means she's gonna be the only top 20 player without team of dedicated fulltime professionals around her.

Yanina should go back to Carlos' (Henin's coach) again and restart all the lessons again from scratch cuz her wannabe-daddy is not gonna teach her anything other than "always hit hard like Sharapova" (and he literally says "hit harder" when giving advise (I heard him say that to Yanina when she was playing Ana Ivanovic recently in Rome: "hit harder to Ana's forehand"

All tennis dads are the same. They are all elementary one-trick-pony types who believe that if one way of doing things worked in the past, then it should work forever, regardless of ranking change and whatever else.
