Will be nice to see how many they will eventually play.
Azarenka, Wozniacki, Jankovic with 5: way too many probably.

Seriously Wozniacki's Schedule is just crazy... She should play Madrid, Rome and either Charleston, Stuttgart OR Brussels but definitely not all of them!! I'm sure she'll tank Brussels. It's the same with Jankovic and especially Azarenka since she's very injury-prone. I actually think Vera's Schedule is very smart :)

I think Sharapova and Ivanovic might enter Strasbourg or Brussels since they only play Madrid and Rome.

Also Stosur really shouldn't play the Fed Cup tie like Schiavone. I mean Ukraine without the Bondarenko's will be a walkover and should be fine with Groth and Dokic. Just crazy to go from Charleston to Melbourne and then to Stuttgart :o

This is not having player knowledge. As far as Jankovic goes. She will play better tennis if she plays this many tournaments, not worse. She knows she is not gonna win them all. But she also knows she will get A LOT of match play on clay and by the time RG comes around have good form and be very comfortable with the surface. She won't be tired. She plays so much better when she has back to back tourney and good runs into them. The less down time the better for her.

Wozniacki as usual with the most, along with Jankovic and Azarenka surprisingly.

That might be too much for Azarenka and Jankovic, but I don't see Wozniacki being affected too much, unless she plays a lot of matches in each and wins a few of them, which I don't see happening.

It's good that Wozniacki plays a lot.
Shows that she cares.
Same with Jankovic and Azarenka here.

I think Caroline is playing too much but she is still (relatively) young. Jelena has a fairly heavy schedule for a 26 year old. I guess you could make the argument that until recently she has had quite a few early losses so she hasn't played too much tennis this year.

It doesnt matter what tournaments Caroline plays a month before a major. If she is tired, she will lose, like Miami.
Its the week before a major that she has to think about.
She plays Sydney, Eastbourne, New Haven.
Probably should try taking a week off and see how it goes in the major.

wozniacki really likes to play tournaments
she's going to tire herself out and maybe even give herself a nagging injury from playing so much. it's a good thing she's young. i think her career would last longer if she played a few less tournaments each year. at this rate she might burn out. and plus, even if she were to win all 5 of those tournaments, it still wouldn't mean anything to the naysayers; it's about winning a slam now. it'd be better if she won none of those tournaments and won the french.

besides, she's got the number 1 ranking secure, doesn't she? unless she just wants some more trophies or something :p

Stuttgart has a great field already, but I'm sure they'd give Ana a WC.

2 warm-ups isn't enough, in my opinion--as the poster above said, clay is a great place for her to rack up some wins and build on her confidence going into the French. The more match practice, the better, in this case.

Venus to warm-up in Brussels before Roland Garros
(AFP) – 8 hours ago

BRUSSELS — US tennis star Venus Williams confirmed on Tuesday she will play the inaugural Brussels Open WTA clay-court tournament from May 14-21, the Belga news agency reported.

Injury-plagued Williams has been bothered by an abdominal injury for the past two months and the world number 15 is hoping to use the Belgian tournament to get in form for the French Open a week later.

Denmark's world number one Caroline Wozniacki, Russian Vera Zvonareva, Serb Jelena Jankovic, Italy's reigning French Open champion Francesca Schiavone and Israel's Shahar Peer will also compete in Brussels.

Five-time Wimbledon champion Williams suffered the injury at the Australian Open, and was forced to withdraw from the Miami tournament last month.

Caro's schedule looks heavy but it's hard to say for sure before we see how she plays on red clay, and she hasn't played uninjured on RC since 2009 so it's kinda hard to guess what to expect.
If Caro has a mediocre clay season and exits her tournaments around QF it really isn't that many matches (she has 1R bye, remember). But if for instance she goes deep in both Madrid and Rome I do hope she'd consider cancelling Bruxelles so not to burn out at RG, mentally even more than physically with all the off-court activities she'll be called on to do at every tournament as the #1 ranked.

Very true... but MAYBE she prefers the quality to the quantity meaning that she'll do good (1/4 at least) in both or one of the 2.

In Madrid she can only do worst... in Rome I can't really remember her result but she definitively would need to play Stuttgart or one of the MMs.

I hope Sam's game comes back around this clay court season. She's been pretty much a ghost of herself since losing to Schiavone at RG.

She's got such promise too. To my mind she's be a lot better off if she started playing doubles again.

At any rate good luck to her:)

I have to agree with this. JJ is a strange one. The more she plays the better she becomes. I think her best year was the year where she was playing almost every other week!
However, for most other people, it would seem smarter not to overexert.

REAL top players probably relaxing somewhere while Wozniacki needs to keep playing all the tournaments to keep her "No. 1" ranking. :tape:

Shame on Wozniacki for doing her job and supporting the tour!

It was a reply to Caro's "see you in Stuttgart" tweet, but yes maybe Snickers just ment the Monte Carlo ATP Masters 1000 where Caro plays a 1 set exo against Schiavone later today.

Updates: No Stuttgart for Petrova (never entered), Kanepi and Pennetta withdrew.
Rezai entered Fes!
Another news: Palmieri (Rome's tournament director) said she spoke with Vera Zvonareva in Moscow and that it is quite possible that she will enter with a wild card.

I don't know why a top player would want to play Brussels. It seems like you are just asking to lose if you play for a month straight.

How do top players do in slams if they played/didn't play the week before? Has anyone done a study on this?

The player on the TOP has Entered to play 8 weeks in a row. (Even unsure if she plays all)

With 3 times New Haven wins, she reached US Open F and SFs
