Wozniacki's defense of her Sydney wooden spoon was just amazing. I think she deserves automatic qualification into the Wooden YEC.

the 8 highest ranked players would make a far more interesting list than the 8 lowest ranked players

I was just trying to joke about the wooden spoon thing... :)

Anyway, it may be cool to have a list of the WS winners of the year! ;)

This list is bogus. You dont win a wooden spoon if you have a bye in first round.
The special thing with the wooden spoon is that may not nessessary exist in all
tournaments.

My favorite bit is how Wozniacki won Wooden Spoons on 3 different surfaces in 2010 :worship: - Sydney, Stuttgart, Eastbourne (as defending champion :worship: )

Wozniacki deserves a direct entry to the Wooden YEC.

What is a wooden spoon and why is Wozniacki listed here with all these clown players?
Why are Schiavone and Rezai in here too with all these players?

A simple forum search would have answered your question . Anyway, a wooden spoon is awarded to the person at the bottom of the string of losers starting from the final worked out backwards. For example, if we considered Miami, the wooden spoon goes to Wickmayer because : Azarenka bt Sharapova bt Petkovic bt Jankovic bt Garrigues bt Vesnina bt Wickmayer.

Big rep points for the OP :) For some reason, I love the wooden spoon winners lists!

I believe there remains a wooden spoon winner for every tournament, even in the instances of byes - In any list ever compiled in this forum, they have always counted, to my knowledgde.

The only thing that DOESN'T count is fleshing it out through qualifying, if the wooden spooner was a Q, although for the odd chance when it happens, it would perhaps make for an interesting separate list.
In any event, YAY!!!! :)

I see.

Well, Wozniacki is definitely the best player to receive a wooden spoon.
