If you took Fran's RG points away right now, she would still be top 10. Her drop won't be as dramatic as some people predict.

Too soon to tell, IMO. It's likely to be Sam but who knows? Clay season is next and she might resurrect. But that's a big IF.

Stosur will start to find some form quickly when she moves onto the clay. She'll probably reach R16 or something similar.

Hmm its really too early to predict how any of the players will be playing.. and to all those saying Sammy will drop and lose all her points, people have been saying the same thing since her French 09 semi and she has managed to only go up - and i will judge her form after a couple of rounds @ RG

franny will be fine and hopefully even make the QF + again

from these players i'd be most worried for Nadia, Yari and Scheepers

Fran can actually gain some pts before RG. Apart from Barcelona, she lost early in both Stuttgart and Rome.

why? i'm not a stosur fan particularly, but the last 2 years she has done very well on clay and it isnt like there are any top players who dominate the surface or sth, so i don't see why it'd be obvious that she will have a big drop. she has a lot to lose, but i can see her defending a lot of her points...

I can easily see a titanic defence from Franni ā la Albert Costa in 2003, crappy clay season and then saving 18965761 five set matches to reach semis again and lose to champion

R128 Sergio Roitman (ARG) 134 W 6-7(3), 2-6, 7-5, 6-2, 6-2
R64 Radek Stepanek (CZE) 47 W 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4
R32 Nicolas Lapentti (ECU) 58 W 4-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4
R16 Arnaud Clement (FRA) 36 W 6-2, 7-5, 7-5

Doing the math it is obvious Schiavone has the most points to lose. Considering she lost in the 1st round the year previously it is definitely in the realm of possibilities that she might make the maximum loss this time around.

Not worried about Schiavone. She has had good results ever since the honeymoon period was over. I doubt sheīll lose before the QF and that will keep her in the top ten easily.

Stosur to me is still the favourite to win it all. People can hate on her game right now, but she is so much better on clay. Last year she had a horrendous draw with Serena, Henin, Jankovic and Schiavone.

Besides Schiavone and Stosur can bounce back quickly at Wimbledon. Both are too good to lose in the 1st round again.

Shvedova, Scheepers and Serena will drop the most. Isnīt Serena down to Wimbledon after the French Open? So that means 2000 points and around 30 in the rankings.

Sam I think can maintain herself... she made a 1/2 and a final... and her 2010 clay court was 18-3 (Vee, Justine, Woz)... she's not a fluke on the surface.

But luck willn't strike twice for Fran she's definitively going down and I don't see her having an exceptional clay season before RG so she's really going down after the french... not to deplease...

You can't be a current slam champ and top 5 player to furnish such mediocre results in between RG 2010 and IW 2011... even Zvo 0 major has done better : 2 GS finals and a Premier title in Doha... Fran doesn't even have a Premier event to start with... ROFL !!

Her last Premier title was in 2009 (2yrs.) and what's even crazier her last 'Tier I' final was in 2005 (6yrs.) - she doesn't even have a final in a Premier event at least in between RG 2010 and now -- Remember that she's top 5 and a slam champ :help: she really needs to go down for sakes of tennis.

Franny will have a good result here I think (at least QF unless she gets a really dangerous floater). Hell, I still think she could win this again.

Sam will be fine. She'll fall in the rankings, but have a good enough showing to stay in the top 10 pretty easily.

Shvedova should be worried. As should Venus. Venus will likely drop out of top 30 if she isn't playing by the FO I would guess.

Donīt know why people think she will have a drastic downhill as she has more than 2000 points more than 10th player, and Iīm almost sure she wonīt lose in R1

However...she is still defending Barcelonaīs title, but even if she wonīt defend this, I donīt expect a big downhill

I really have no idea, but I doubt that Schiavone will drop too much, she really took advantage of her high seeding and made some consistent results during the past year. Stosur is in questionable form, but I think it's too early to judge about her chances, I think we have to wait until she played some matches on clay. If she loses early in Charleston and Stuttgart it certainly wouldn't be a good sign going into RG.

It's very early to predict what happens after French Open as there is Stuttgart, Madrid, Rome & Brussels also in the play.

If you add only these points earned after French Open 2010, than Francesca Schiavone (2.683 points) should be ranked within Top 15 and Sam Stosur (2.415 points) within Top 20.

If Aravane Rezai (1.110 points), Alexandra Dulgheru (1.230 points) or Nadia Petrova (1.371 points) don't put some wins under theirs belts, their Wimbledon seeding is in jeopardy. Same goes for Maria Jose Martinz Sanchez & Lourdes Dominguez Lino, but already for French Open.

However, decide yourself which scenario is more likely!

I'm not sure Sam and Fran can drop out the top 10 at RG. Pretty sure they won't. But they do need to pick their level up. Are they really playing like top 10 players now? In the race - Fran is #16, Sam is #22.

I hope so, and if she fixes up her mentality and forehand she would have a great chance to reach at least 4th round. However, there is some tough players she might draw in third round like Peng, Alex, Cibulkova. Well, I should see the possibility after Stuttgart.

Realistically, I'd say Shvedova and Scheepers. But Stosur's reached a new level of shitiness recently, so I wouldn't be surprised if both actually advanced farther than her. You know to like the 2nd round?

Stosur also has final points to defend from Stuttgart. If she bombs out early out in both these two, she might tumble right on the verge of Top 10 methinks.
