Erm.. I hope she withdraws. :sobbing: Or play, I don't know. She's done enough this week fighting through with one leg and seeing her crying makes me want her to stop. :sobbing: She'll make the best decision.

No surprise for me if Sharapova w/o from SF after that sprained ankle 3rd set injury against Dulgheru, which is really sad.

But at least she comeback into TOP10 and reached two back-to-back Premier Mandatory semifinals, which is big improvement and good news for her.

Andrea in 2. She's playing better right now and isn't making double faults in the teens and struggling to put the ball away like Masha is.

Depends on the ankle....

Even so, Andrea P is playing so well right now, it would be very dificult to beat her....

It depends which Maria and Andrea turn up. After Maria's performance tonight you'd be stupid to think she'll make the final, but you never know... Andrea could have an off-day and Maria could have a non-sucky day!

Maria can and might suprise us... the only issue is the ankle though !!

Anyways however things turn out Andrea would deserve her 1rst mandatory final and she'd have beaten the players to reach there.

Maria is in the top 10.

Indeed.
She should be happy she made the SF and is back in the top 10, now she should rest up for the clay season.

If she does play however it won't be pretty, I don't even want to think about how many games she might win :help:

I want Sharapova, Serena and all top players to be back seriously to WTA so I want her to play cause I am glad she is serious about the comeback and she needs more matches.

But I don't want her to play if she is injured or even take a risk.

If she plays I expect Petkovic to win cause Maria has played for 3:30 hours but no one knows..

Maria is just not a good player anymore. She somehow draws the same quarter in 2 Mandatories, as Stosur, Sveta, and Li, who all cant win a match now.

This is an easier match for Andrea than her last 2, but more pressure on her, because she's expected to repeat her AO win

Maria has not beaten a seed in 7 majors, just lost 61 62 to Caro.
At some point even her biggest supporters have to accept her current game is lacking, and will lose to many good, in form, players.
Good in form players she was fortunate not to draw early these last 2 tournaments.

Masha has certainly played a lot more good matches lately than bad. Plus isnt winning what counts (pretty sure you said something like that). Masha has had a lot of injury and illness problems since coming back so it hasnt been smooth sailing. That being said she has beaten or tested quite a few of the top players in the past 12 months.

Last night was not a good match either

Everything that you have said is true but she is definitly heading in the right direction compared to how she ended last year and started this year. She was losing to everyone and anyone now at least she is only losing to top players and is heading in the right direction.

Peng defeated Kuz pretty easily and aren't you the one who thought that Kuz would win:lol:.
Considering Peng's recents results it was a good win for Maria I just know that, she played some goods matches in IW and Miami but atm she is prolly tired and she is fighting, give her some credit.
I don'expect her to beat Petko but two SF back to back is not bad at all, Petko lost early at IW she is good physically.

Well apparently she is giving it up after this tournament...though I don't know what she will come up with next.

I actually love it though, it will be missed. :crying2:

About this match; Maria has a day to recover, it didn't seem serious at all, so I don't think her ankle will be a factor.
I think this is a complete toss up. They have both played a lot of tennis and have won some emotional matches. Neither is playing 'great', but they are both fighting like crazy, which I love.
I will be thrilled for whichever player wins, so I am not going to vote on the poll.

On Tennis Channel they showed her face up close and she was definitely crying. Although she is a fighter and besides the tears, didn't really show how much it hurt.

Obviously, I want Maria to win, but I don't really think we can predict anything. Both Caroline and JJ weren't playing that great and Andrea took complete advantage of that, however I wouldn't have said Andrea was miles better than them. Maria on the other hand has been very convincing - up until last night! So which Maria will turn up? How well will Andrea play? We'll just have to wait. But I would absolutely love Maria to win this title to add it to her collection.

Would have loved to see Sam Stosur there now but okay, some things are not meant to happen. Let's focus on this match & I voted for Andrea in 3 sets. She's beaten Sharapova before & I believe she can do it again. I would prefer if she could do it in 2 as I don't want to be worrying too much. Bottom line, I absolutely dislike Sharapova, I actually like Andrea & she's German. Andrea to win!!!

I am pretty sure I am the only person who would compare Maria to.....former Rams and Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner.
At times, Kurt was capable of making football errors--fumbles and interceptions--which is doubly bad when you are injured, but he could find a way to prevail. Maria seems to have not done some of the amazing things we used to take for granted, but this week I have seen some of those shots. I do not know if it is possible that an injury can distract a player from overthinking, and increase their reliance on gut level instincts---but do not be surprised if that is what happens the next couple of days with Maria. I doubt she gets demolished. I think she can win.

Obviously Maria's serve/double faults are going to be a huge factor in this match. I'm picking Maria to win but I wouldn't be shocked if Andrea won it. I'm not a Sharapova fan but if she can win the title here it should give her a huge boost and she could be a factor at Wimbledon this year.

Both players have had great tournaments and I would be happy if either one of them wins the final.

I would have thought nerves would've worked in Ma$ha's favour too, but then AO2011 happened and Shazza was the one who crumbled on the big occasion in a night match in front of Rod Laver Arena while Petko held hers (mind you she didn't have to do much, such was the implosion of Sharapova).

I would like Martha to start playing well and win :gulp: wimbledon: :gulp: if the WS are not playing. A win here could certainly help her confidence but I like Petko too, so any result is good.

Please dont badrep me this Olivia

I would have goodrepped you to balance it out just in case, but apparently I've given you one recently?

Just go for it Maria. Probably a lost cause but if she loses in the SF she probably will still play Charleston :cheer: where as she probably will withdraw if she would reach the final.

Did you count me--I said Maria in two.
