Chokers. :tape:. Yanina up in the second 4-0, then Elena serving 5-4 and having 3 MP she fell apart and DF on BP :spit:. Then all was kinda tricky, Elena tried to save her at 5-6 with two consecutive aces, but wasn't enough.
At least Elena won , back to back wins.. GL in 3rd round. (Against AMG?)

What a pathetic effort from Wickmayer. This was the worst match in the last 10 years. No one wanted to win.

You obviously don't know about Radwanska vs Azarenka from last week then

when i watched bartoli/yanina last week, I thought to myself that it was a very deflating loss because she played pretty well to get to that point. But, she didn't serve or construct points that day and it looked like it carried over on today. Worst of all, I didn't see her clicking with the coach on friday during the timeout. He was tentative, giving wishy-washy information, and really didn't look like a confident coach. I hope she changes him because there is too much talent here to be wasted.

But I like vesnina too so good for her.

I hoped that winning doubles at IW would help Elena's confidence.
I think she can beat Anabel & give Jankovic a good match

Lena won despite serving up 10 DF's. :help:

Surprised Vesnina won this chokefest. Expected her to crumble after wasting a bunch of MPs and losing the 2nd set.

She always seems to be the biggest coward on WTA tour, but I love her :inlove:

 I was at this match and it was hilarious, sad, and then joyous. (as a Lena fan)

First set - Lena was dominant with gorgeous winners while Yanina's serve wasn't as good as it usually is.

Second set - Errorlena starts to creep up and that's really how Yanina got to 4-0. Lena's shots start to go in and Wickmayer coughed up some DFs at the worst times to bring it even. I knew as soon as Lena got to 5-4 she would choke. :sobbing: Some great shots though and that deuce game was really tense. Wickmayer made some great gets but she wasn't as aggressive as she can be. Both players were quite loud but it fit with the match.

Third set - Flashes of brilliance from Lena. It looked like Yanina thought Lena would give up but thankfully, she didn't. Wickmayer wasn't at her best but Lena wasn't exactly letting Yanina into the match.

I had a feeling Lena would win when I saw her hitting with Sabine and she was hitting the ball quite clean. So happy for her! :)

Haha I remembered that particular match. Everyone was talking about how awful Aga serves was and Vika save 3 match points from that to win the match.

And congratz to Vesnina! :cheer:

Wickmayer...good try though...

Well it's a bad loss for Yanina especially after the convincing results over the last few weeks, really expected more. Furthermore she'll drop out of Top 20 again since she had QF-Points to defend.

But on the other hand I can't say how happy I am for Elena! This is just a great win and I never ever expected this after her sloppy start to the year :D I just hope she doesn't crumble now and reaches the 4R. Really great Tournament from her so far. I don't care if it could've been easily, I think for her confidence it's not too bad to win a tight match.

integrating the word "choke" into players' names is so 2010.

Elena has been close to beating Wozniacki & Stosur.
She's a decent player, I think she can be top 20.
Just needs to stay healthy. Elena almost withdrew from IW doubles, but Mirza convinced her to try it, & she can withdraw if she cant play.
Now she is on a nice winning streak, singles & doubles
