Beth could've made this a lot tougher had she taken her break point opportunities.
She wasted a 0-40 lead on Caro's serve twice I think.

Ah well, now JJ has to make it to the QF.

Good win for Caroline. :clap2: She played well in the first set and did a good job of keeping it together in the face of BMS` revived play, although i wish that she would`ve ended the match sooner. Still it is a good start for Caro.

Pretty annoying when you can't see the match. But not really an impressive scoreline. Seems like she may be abit tired from IW and I don't think she'll win Miami. But of course, it is hard to tell from a live score tracker.

I don't think So, you know eb. The worst performance this year was Sidney 1. round against Cibulkova. She was Virtually teeing up the ball so Cibulkova
could hit hard.

judging from the scoreline it was bad indeed.:( I fear lack of motivation in action... can't blame her of course.

I guess eb.dk weren't watching the poly strings experiment in Sydney?

eb.dk is just a thing that shouldn't exist. And it's not because of that "article" or whatever they call it. That paper makes trash look good.

Caro was leading 6-2 5-3 30-30. Just a bit of minor choke-age on her part too , hopefully she gets better but as long as she gets to the quarters I'll be satisfied , don't think she'll have enough energy to win the entire thing.

Caroline has Friday off. If she beats Dani, she has Sunday off.
I dont think she is tired. Mattek almost took a set off Kim in Fed Cup. She's wild, but can get on a run, if she's not near a big win. Down a set against a huge favorite is when there's no pressure.

Oh I see, thanks. Don't expect her to win the thing either- if there should be a pause in such a run, it most suitably be here in Miami. Will be both physical and mental rest before the clay. Nothing will shake confidence but a loss will diminish some unhealthy expectations and pressure.:)

Just read EB. Hmmmm .. and Piotr's comments  .. I shall refrain from any translation as it'll just end up as a 'cut and paste as you like' thread headline here in GM.

She wont.

Caro is 3.65-3.80 .. you can lay her if you like :)

It's not too surprising Caro's match was a bit up and down, I actually kinda expected that. It's her first match in a new tournament on a slightly different surface and she just arrived 3 days ago from IW and had to deal with press, player's council, some charity play, player's party etc. and sounded a bit stressed. When you couple that with an opponent who apparently hit a bad shot every second time it's difficult to find your best rhytm. But as long as the 'crisis' is no worse than allowing 5-3 to become 5-5 before closing out the match I can live with it. And all things being equal, BMS is one of the tougher non-seeded opponents you can face in your first match.
Now Caro has a day off to unwind and I think she'll play better against Hantuchova next round.

Reasoning with people in GM? It's a good try, but I don't think it will work.

I'm not really trying to reason with anyone. I'm just putting forth some of the thoughts I had before the match and explaining why I didn't expect this to be all easy. As long as Caro closed it out in straight sets I don't think she needs that much defending if that's what you're implying with 'reasoning'.

You guys may want to read match report http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=19319404&postcount=641, I recommend you to notice that in the match that included best American player in the draw the crowd cheered more for Wozniacki. Actually it doesnt require much observational skills to figure that the girl is loved everywhere in the world but this :silly: forum.

The important part was to win in 2 sets and get a day off.
Same goes for the Dani match. Win in 2 & get some rest
