her backhand was her go-to shot from what i've heard until she injured her wrist in AO 2009.

lol hope you guys don't mind the huge image..

also i just noticed...her left wrist is already strapped up  this was her during the 2008 us open, which is before when she officially injured it. it looks like it was already banged up

Dani's ability to volley well is a weapon that isn't really brought up too often. I think her backhand has to be the better side though. I love how she can play a good punch volley, powerful drives, has soft hands for the drop-volley and even plays half volley dropshots well. In fact, she really has great finesse on all of her backhand strokes with her regular dropshots being some of the best on tour also.

I don't agree, I don't think she uses tactics that much.... Wozniacki often comes with the same gameplan, and she is right, it has been working so far

Ok, my favourite is not Caroline lol it was a joke towards the other thread. ;) But I really think defense is a weapon (okay, it can be frustrating, that's why sometimes I whine about Caro and sometimes I cheer for her...), and it is her best one.

About Justine...
Justine's serve ? just kidding.

I would say Justine's BH of course, and Justine's FH from 2007 ...

I only agree insofar as she always tries to play her opponents in the way which makes life most difficult for them. But whether she plays to FH/BH/their feet or she varies on speed/spin/depth etc. depends on who she's up against. I'm pretty sure she'll come up with a more agressive gameplan against Bartoli than against Sharapova.

Well, I don't know if she deliberately tries to play aggressive only against a few players OR if she relies on her defense if she doesn't feel right to try to hit winners... she is better at defense than to make huge winners for some reasons (like some players who are careful at serve when they don't feel able to do 54545 aces..).

Caro is smart, that's for sure, but I would not say it is her main weapon.

Not even. She has very little ability to change game plan in the middle of the match, and she usually needs daddy, and that's part of the reason why her results in slams are worse. When she's in trouble, she is panicking and can't change her game plan. Of course it's not like she has many options. The only thing she can do and is good at is getting the ball in play and neutralizing power with moon balls. Her consistency is really her only weapon.

Caroline being smart/tactical is one of, if not the biggest misconception in tennis today. Running down every ball at the baseline and forcing errors requires as much brain power as bashing winners "brainlessly" Caroline is no Hingis, which some people try to make her out to be.

Jeca's short angled crosscourt backhand, when its on its a thing of beauty.

I've never seen a two hander roll around the outside of the ball and create the angle the way Jelena does, it reminds me of Rafa.

:worship: My favorite backhand's of Justine was her crosscourt, by far. Love how she opened up the court with it and hit lovely angled winners. That actually is a hallmark of all great players, how well they use angles to open up the court. Clijsters' best shot is her CC backhand as well. Federer, Nadal, all great crosscourt patterns.

This thread is falsed since the best shots of the girls are always going to be their BH...

Vika : My favorite shot of Vika is when with a very short take back she's able to almost just like a flick to redirect the ball DTL full speed.

Maria : One of the shots I've still never understood how Maria does that is to hit a wicked FH winner while totally being on the back foot... In USO 2006 vs. Justine she hit a ridiculous inside-out FH that way... magic...

My other favorite shot of Maria is her inside-out FH... it's orgasmic, lethal, surprising since she doesn't do it often... watch Stosur vs. Maria Pékin 2009. :worship:

Julia : My favorite shot is her sit-lift DTL FH... just raw power... the ball travels the court with both plenty of lift and power just like a bullet... unreal.

Kimmie : she's not my fave but I'm baffled by the manner she steps in on her FH... her weight transfer, rotation and how the ball leaves the racket CLEAN and goes exactly where she wanted it to go just like as if it went through a tube... Genius...

Vee : Is reaaally not my fave but her inside-out FH from the middle of the court... :worship: Vee stays in a FH to FH rally then suddenly with small adjustement steps out of no where sometimes with little time to work, before the rise redirects DTL... Vee vs. Kimmie USO 2005 or Vee vs. Davenport (AO ?? 2000 ??) Federer like that is... artistery.

Patty's forehand - just pure magic when she's playing well. she can literally do anything with it.

Szavay's backhand - it's hard to create a tennis stroke more beautiful than this shot. the sheer variety that she's capable of with it is incredible too.

Chak's ground game - i know many people think her forehand is fug, but i love it for some reason, more than her BH i'd say. I don't know, i just like the way it looks i guess. but both her groundies are incredibly effective when she's playing well in redirecting the ball.

Marion's ROS - so lethal when she's on, it's perfect.

Aga's dropshots - it's her thing, i guess, and many times she pulls them off quite well.
