Urgh I hate this! The other day I saw this 3 year old boy looking for his parents in the mess that was formerly their house and he was crying, words seriously can't describe how sad I feel when I think of that.

yes, the OP should include a warning or something.

The title of the thread is 'a heartbreaking picture' - so it was pretty much a given that it wasn't going to be pretty. If people are sensitive about these images then they shouldn't have clicked on the image in the first place instead of criticizing the OP.

For anybody who is interested, this is the backstory:

In the washed-away coastal town of Yamamoto in Miyagi Prefecture on Saturday, the parents of an 18-year-old searched for the minibus their daughter said she boarded in an e-mail after a catastrophic earthquake and tsunami that hit northeastern Japan the previous day.

‘‘Our daughter is in it. Please get her out fast,’’ the parents of Mizuki Kanno screamed out after they found the minibus crushed and their daughter’s body inside. Crying for help was the only thing Eiji and Matsuko Kanno, both 43, could do.

As local police told them there was nothing they could do about it ‘‘due to lack of equipment’’ the parents just managed to stammer, ‘‘Why can’t they get her out quickly?’‘
