Well done, Lucie. Didnīt expect the third set to be so easy.

Lucie scored 18 aces, is it a new personal record of hers?

Safarova won 27 of 37 points in that third set. Complete meltdown from Barrois or did she get injured or something?

Barrois had a cold last week. Maybe she didn't have enough energy for such a long match.

Kristina has a lot of game. One of my favourite players to watch to be honest. When she is playing well she can be competitive against almost anyone. Regretably she is not exactly the strongest player mentally and a quick look at her career record shows alot of close competitive matches against very good players but not that many wins. Shame really. I guess we can add this one to the pile.

Well done to Lucie though. 3 good sets of tennis beats 2 good sets of tennis I suppose. 18 aces is indeed very impressive.

Foals.

I'm leaning towards a choke as she had a high number of DF and is known to do so (like when she faded against Clijsters at Paris).
Lucie's serving probably put the pressure on too.

Still, great peformance from Lucie to tough it out when she's probably still tired from last week and jetlagged from getting here. 18 aces is awesome.

You sure know her well. If she would be just a little bit mentally tougher she'd be Top 50 easily , which hardly anyone besides me believes here on TF.

I think on a good day Kristina can most definately play top 20 tennis. But so often she falters at the crucial moment.

Thing about Barrois and this forum is, Kristina is not a glamorous, young powerful girl like say Lisicki, so she doesn't get the attention when she plays a close hard fought match against a Dementieva, Clijsters, Safina, Henin, Azarenka, Stosur etc that Lisicki will get when she loses a close match to the likes of Cirstea, Manasieva or Hradecka. That's just how things are around this forum.

Yes you're definetly right about the fact with the glamour. It's just sad, but I think it could change a bit if she would score 2 or 3 good wins because she's has many good tennis left in her because she started pretty late.
Plus she's getting better and better on clay which is sure her worst surface

Very happy that Lucie pulled through this match with those serving stats, especially considering jet lag. Barrois beat her the previous time they played.

Nice to see Lucie win a TB 11-9 after losing 2 tough TBs this year...and 18 aces :worship: good win for her considering she generally sucks here.

Safarova's 76(9) 67(5) 60 win over Kristina Barrois broke the record for most aces from a player in a match this year, as the Czech fired 18 of them!! :D
