Nice effort from Puig...won a match, then lost in 3 sets, couldnt expect much more with her limited experience.

Puig has the potential to be a really good player.... I'm excited to see her develop.

Oh Monica, the same story as last year in Ponte Vedra. First she beats much higher ranked player and in the final round she wins the first set but after that her game seems to fall apart :(

Don't be so hard on her, she is developing, don't forget that she recently won a 25k challenger which was a bit of a breakthrough for her.

Agree. Very good week for Puig and I think she definately showed this week that she is a player we will be seeing a lot more of.

This obviously wasn't as easy match for Sorana and I'm glad she got through it.

Interesting match, I was there today in the front row. She was doing well until she got broke at 4-4 in the second set, then she got frustrated and started making errors. She was in good shape until then.....If she could of kept her head and let that break of serve go, she would have been fine. It was her head today that caused her to lose....

I would have loved to see Monica win this but as of this moment, I think Sori needs it more. Monica still has plenty of time & like I said, it would be good for her to develop her competitive mindset at a steady pace.

Like I said, she let her emotions get to her after that break of serve in the second set. We all the know that most of the time the difference between winning and losing is between the ears...So it was with this match...

I'm not, her results in pros are way more impressive than of any other top junior player. Almost all her losses are 3-setters. But for some reason she plays a very limited schedule in pros (and she'll be 18 this year), so every win is extremely important for her...

I'm not sure I would agree with the "most of the time" bit but yeah....a lot of the time certainly. So many matches are won by winning 53% of the points or even less. A few points here and there can so often be the difference. "Most of the time"? Nah. I wouldn't go that far. But 30-40% of the time for sure. And that is a lot.
