Jane Wong hopes to turn around her slump in Indian Wells

After consecutive first round losses panning from Australian Open. Jane Wong turn to her old coach from 2000.

"I will try t change some game plan this time round, playing the way I use to play which involve a lot of running and retrieving, I will see how it goes."

"I still enjoy tennis despite numerous first round loss. I am more worried tht I let down Ziyi in doubles and if she approach me and say she want to find another partner, I am happy to accept since I realy did not deliver on my part."

Singles Results, Third Round

Vittoria Perez def. Mia Henriksson 7/5, 7/6(5)
Vittoria was able to continue her path at Indian Wells with another straight set victory, this time it was a bit tighter. Mia finally snapped out of her slump winning 2 matches in California.

[5]Nthamangela Mbangu def. Bianka Harlow 7/5, 6/2
And another quarterfinal hard court for Nthama who will surely find herself cemented in the top 5 soon after this win over Bianka. Now a quarterfinal battle royale with Vittoria.

[8]Jane Wong def. Rita Cebolla 7/6(2), 5/7, 7/6(4)
Jane has shown nerves of steel winning back to back third set tiebreaker matches after such a horrible slump. Rita leaves Indian Wells proud of her accomplishment.

[4]Siri Cornetsson def. Lindsay Galbraith 7/6(0), 7/6(2)
Siri, like Jane, was in a slump and looks to have slumped out of it by beating the Iron Woman in two sets.

[3]Giuseppina Benedetti def. Cornelia du Preez 2/6, 7/5, 6/3
When Giusa gets going, she really goes! She has won so many matches in a row and finally beat Coco for the first time in four meetings.

Caroline Smith def. [6]Athea Kane 1/6, 7/6(0), 6/2
Caroine came back from 6/1, 5/1 down to win this match as Athea crumbled under pressure that we don't normally see.

[7]Luna-Willow Bartoli def. [15]Togtdyalttai Wachiramanowong 7/6(1), 3/6, 6/4
Luna, like Giusa, continues to win here at Indian Wells after a championship from last week.

[2]Ruflina Taliamanosoko def. Anastasia Nemayeva 5/7, 7/5, 7/6(1)
Poor Nastya threw everything she could at Ruflina and almost beat her for the first time ever but came up short.

Doubles Results, Second Round

[1]Cornetsson/Johnson def. C. Smith/Wojnarowska 7/5, 5/7, 7/6(0)
Harper and Siri are the top ranked team in the world and struggle today against a pair of newbies.

Nemayeva/Perez def. [8]Wong/Zianzhi 4/6, 7/5, 7/6(5)
Vittoria has a thing over Ziyi this week and gets another win with her partner Nastya.

[5]Felivitch/Mesane def. Cebolla/Sanchez 4/6, 7/6(4), 6/4
Ella and Elise beat the new Spanish team in three tight sets to finally set up their first career match with Jennifer and Ruflina.

[3]Casanova/Taliamanosoko def. Harlow/Hernich 6/2, 7/6(4)
Tough day for Bianka as she loses both of her matches, although this one ended quicker.

[4]Bartoli/Kartincova def. du Preez/Galbraith 7/5, 4/6, 6/4
Coco and Lindsay were trying to pump each other up after their losses in singles, but Luna was on fire and with the support of Martine, there was no stopping them.

[6]Pirilenko/Soren def. Amato/A. Benedetti 6/4, 3/6, 7/6(0)
Sam and Yelena were in their groove continuing the march of all but one seeded team today.

[7]Henriksson/Jarocka-Pottinger def. Minella/Runarsdottir 4/6, 6/4, 7/6(4)
It was quite a show for Hafdis, who is a fan favorite. Mia and Emilia battled through to advance to the quarterfinals.

[2]Bailly/Wachiramanowong def. Graf/Huubere 6/3, 1/6, 7/6(1)
Sylvie has been mysteriously absent from singles but shows up for doubles and denies all interviews. Regardless, she and Tog move through after defeating the veterans.

[3]Giuseppina Benedetti def. Caroline Smith 7/6(4), 7/5
This might have been a Fed Cup match had we not known where we were. The heavily pro-American crowd played to desires of Caroline as she constantly tried to keep them pumped with her phenomenal net play and deep ground strokes. However, Giusa was just a tad bit stronger on a few points, thus ending this tight two set match.

[2]Ruflina Taliamanosoko def. [7]Luna-Willow Bartoli 7/6(4), 6/2
This all-Afro babe quarterfinal saw the elder take out the younger in quick work after the tightly contested first set. Ruflina is looking to move back to the second position in the world with the absence of Sylvie.

Benedetti Set to Battle Taliamanosoko Again

World number 3 and world number 4 will square off in a semifinal match that will have the feel of a final in Indian Wells. Italian Giuseppina Benedetti and Botswanian Ruflina Taliamanosoko will renew their rivalry for the 7th time in their careers. Every time there has been a substantial amount on the line, and this match will be no different. The two have never met before the quarterfinals of an event, with the exception of the tour championships last fall when the two met in a round robin match, which is arguably equally or more important than a tour quarterfinal. The two are both chasing down Sylvie Bailly for the number 2 ranking, which Taliamanosoko may overtake with a victory against Giusa. Benedetti had to overcome the jeers of the crowd in her quarterfinal match against American Caroline Smith, and will likely face a similar atmosphere against tour favorite, "Ruffy". Although Benedetti is not typically considered among the elite on the tour, her head to head with Taliamanosoko is quickly becoming a "true" rivalry.

Ruflina Taliamanosoko, of Botswana, at the Semifinals Japan Tsunami Relief Effort of Indian Wells

My heart goes out towards all the Japanese people as they have been so supportive of the tour over the years of multiple events. I think it's fantastic that all four semifinalists have donated their Indian Wells prize winnings to the relief efforts as well as donation of personal items for tonight's auction. I hope this helps in a small way to the relief effort.

Congrats Vittoria, a well earned win.

Jane has been on a slump and she is happy to win some matches. Now the big test will come in Miami and clay season whether she really belongs in top 10

Singles Results, Semifinals Bottom Half

[2]Ruflina Taliamanosoko def. [3]Giuseppina Benedetti 6/4, 7/6(4)
Ruflina has defeated another top ten player in straight sets, this time Giusa. She gets that look in her eye about once or twice a year and the last time we saw her focus was when she won the 2009 US Open. Giusa gave it all she got but couldn't keep her great win streak alive. The ensures that Ruflina will move to #2 but Giusa has a really excellent shot at moving to #3.

Doubles Results, Semifinals Bottom Half

[4]Bartoli/Kartincova def. [2]Bailly/Wachiramanowong 7/5, 7/5
Luna-Willow and Martine have definitely found a niche here in Indian Wells and knocked off the second seeded team in straight sets. Luna-Willow will now get a chance to avenge her loss in singles to defeat Ruflina in doubles.

Singles Results, Finals

[2]Ruflina Taliamanosoko def. Vittoria Perez 6/7(0), 7/6(2), 7/5
This match was won on pure guts and match experience. It could have gone either way and Ruflina has been on fire this whole event, especially her epic win over Giusa in the semifinals. However, Vittoria was a match today and pushed back just as hard with punishing ground strokes and finely prepared drop shots. In the end, Ruflina's serve carried the day, not faltering at all and she takes home her first title in over 7 months.

Doubles Results, Finals

[4]Bartoli/Kartincova def. [3]Casanova/Taliamanosoko 7/5, 2/6, 7/5
Jennifer and Ruflina were heavily favored to win today after their performance of the year and Luna and Martine's slump. However, the former Australian Open champions weren't about to roll over and give the title away and fought valiantly for the two sets they won, thus earning the championships.
