Well, Simona was the only Romanian girl who played (and lost) this week, so I have to agree that those tourneys don't interest me at the moment...

But the junior tournaments are very good so far! :D

Well actually for me there are more uninteresting weeks than the interesting ones.

I still wonder why everyone is taking Greta Arn seriously. She is not a come-back player or anything like that, she just had the advantage of seeing her opponents play their worst tennis.
Since you seem to be an Arn, I really don't wanna make you annoyed with this post, but believe if I hadn't been in the crowd the whole week, or hadn't watched her very first match against Ondraskova, I wouldn't have said so.

But even if no one of my favourites reaches Quarterfinals in a tournament, there is no reason to consider it a bad tournament

Don't agree with the thread opener.

This week the matches have been interesting!! Especially Daniilidou v Pavly...great match :worship: It's nice to NOT see Caro in every tourney :o

Though the attendance has been non-existant in Malaysia, they have had free live stream right from the first round which is better than most higher grade tournaments :hearts: (last year the higher grade American tournaments had terrible coverage!!)

Anyway, why do some people think everyone is 'waiting' for Indian Wells? :o I'm certainly not, in fact I don't really care about it...there are other far more interesting tournaments...

Dokic playing well has made up for Sam's absence since Dubai.

If you think this week is bad, wait till after Wimbledon you get a whole month of small clay tournaments before the USO series starts. Or post USO a month of weak Asian tourneys like Tashkent and Guangzhou.

I love tennis for tennis.
:yeah:

I've seen some entertaining matches so far this week (Jovanovski vs. Radwanska, Pavlyuchenkova vs. Daniilidou, a couple of Dokic comebacks...). Also, it's always nice to have the opportunity to watch players who get little exposure elsewhere. And, as someone mentioned, live coverage for many of these smaller events is much more comprehensive than for big American tournaments like IW or Miami, where early-round coverage is basically nonexistent on the women's side.

MM tourns are so much better
better coverage available online.

all it needs is the WTA to get rid of its stupid rule. ( let them play as many MM as they want but they can only count 4, 2 in each half of season)

I am not taking her "seriously", I am a fan since 2001 and am just happy that she is presently playing the best tennis of her life and I am enjoying her results. I have seen the very lows over the years and now I am enjoying the highs before she calls it a career, which will eventually happen sooner than later with Greta becoming 32 in April.

I am not completely deluded thinking that she beat Maria Sharapova *woohooo* - I have watched that match, too, and of course Greta lived off about 100 UE and DF. But she might have one or two MM tournaments in her if she keeps her level this high.

That's all, I am not annoyed.

It is good to know that you are not annoyed, and thanks a lot for your reply. It is always good to see a player whom you have supported in her low days win a tournament and defeat the top seed and the last year's champion on the way.
It is always good to share ideas with people like you here. However, not everyone is as nice as you in replying and here is a comment which I got for that post, plus a negative reputation from a poster called Shvedbarilescu. (http://www.tennisforum.com/member.php?u=22808):

1) If you are going to write idiotic garbage at least write coherent idiotic garbage. 2) Not a comeback player? In 10 months Arn has climbed from 240 to just outside the top 50. If thats not a comeback i dont know what is. Its certainly not luck.

There will never be perfect calender for everyone...
The WTA, the event offical, media, players, fans..., it can be better but it's just so complicated, no?
Interesting, or not, calender probably makes less effect than how top players perform.
Well...whatever.......

The seeds dont play Indian Wells till late in week 1.
6 former champions in the field - Kim, Dani are 2 time winners, Jelena, Vera, Maria, Ana.
2 former finalists - Sveta twice & Caro last year. Kim & Ana also finalists

So still a few more days before the top players are in action.
