Ajde :sobbing: so fucking happy.
Jelena was close to losing. Nara played incredible tennis, retrieving and redirecting so well, she was very disappointed to lose.

Dokic has her power back, just amazing to watch, the angles she could get on her backhand wing combined with the pace is just sublime.

:sobbing: Second tour QF for 2011. Jelena's fought hard in these last two matches, I think her level is better than in Paris to be honest. The ultra-fast surface really helped her cause there. This week though, she's been engaging in long rallies and defending pretty well for her standards when necessary. The serve wasn't crazy today either. 7 aces and 4 double faults if I'm not mistaken.

Nara was flawless for the first set and a half though. She was not bothered by Jelena's pace until she started to fatigue in the third set and couldn't set herself quickly enough to redirect.

Just ran out of steam mid-way through the last set. :sobbing:

Really promising result though. Played fantastically for the most part. :yeah: So proud of Kuruchan.

I got nervous when she blew those three set points up 6-3 in the tiebreak, but she kept hitting out, and it served her well. So great to see her motivated and excited out on court again.

First time in the year I'm really convinced of Jelena's matchplay :hearts: Paris was great obviously, but she was just playing out of her mind there. Today she wasn't playing awesomely but she stuck it out and humbly rallied her way to victory instead of basically tanking (like vs. Pennetta).

Nara played really well too, great counterattacker :yeah:

Plenty to be proud of, i was really impressed. Great anticipation and movement and some absolutely sublime angles.

Jelena played quality tennis and still probably should have lost in 2, so i'm ecstatic with this result, really fought and wanted it - some of the best i've seen from her in a while. Power off her groundies was very impressive.

Nara is the kind of player that can give Jelena fits -- super fast retriever, not bothered by pace, making Jelena hit multiple winners on every point until she makes an error. This kind of game can frustrate Jelena and force her into bad errors.

Despite serving for the match, Nara did NOT choke. She was very impressive for the first two sets. Jelena just picked up her game in the second half of the second set, and Nara's went down a little bit. That was the difference.

The thing that impresses me most about Jelena over the first two months is her competitive spirit. She's definitely had some low points -- after being away from the top of the game for almost 10 years, some inconsistency is inevitable -- but she's showing up week after week, fighting hard, competing well, winning close matches, and getting better and better.

As another commenter above said, the fact that she won today without playing her best tennis - both her backhand and serve were a bit below par -- is super exciting.

Jelena fans have to be thrilled - there hasn't been 2 sustained months of high-quality competition like this since 2003. The more matches she plays like this, the better she's going to get.

The match play, hopefully, is gonna help Jelena in the long run. For the moment, nothing is coming easy for her.

Just glad to see her competing like this again.

Who predicted by March 2011 Jelena would have made one more tour quarterfinal than Sam? :sobbing:

It's been a long time since Jelena is showing so much commitment to grinding on the tour week in and out. She hasn't disappeared after Australia and is now reaping the rewards of her hard work. Keep it up! So good to see the talent back.
