Oh Jelena, 0-40 on the Zvonareva serve, didn't break, and Bepa needed just the one MP.

Good match though, esp. the third set where both played pretty well.

Close match.Vera served well to save the 3 BP at 4-4 an d she deserves it.

Great two weeks for Jelena. She's just lacking of a bit of match play in tight situations but her game is back. She played really well in the last 2 sets.

It was 4-4 0-40 for JJ... and then she lost 5 points in a row to make it 4-5.. and then she lost 4-6

What a focking surprise.

anyway gz BEPA.. I'll cheer for you tomorrow but i know you'll lose... ;(

I like both girls, but COME ON JJ!

You HAVE to win matches like that! Your brain got in your way. Channel some Woz mental power or something...

Feb 25th, 2011, 05:41 PM
You talk about coming in for the coute de gras, well it happened in game 9 3rd set with the score tied at 4-4. Vera was trailing 0-40,but then kept her poise and raised the level of her game by winning the next 5 points with 2 aces and 1 unreturned serve. She carried the momemtum by winning the next game to close out the set and the right to face The Push in the finals. I think The Push will beat Zvonereva, but Vera is a super player.

I hope she will play better tomorrow, too, but she played better today than some of her other matches this week. Steady improvement, but I'm not sure it is going to be enough to defeat focused Woz.

Well I am obviously dissapointed Jelena didnt win,but for a change this was actually very nice match to watch. Both girls had their chances and Vera used hers just a little better.
But I am very much satisfied with Jelena's performance this week and I am kinda glad she lost. I really dont need another JJ's injury. And theres something about this Doha event that makes Jelena every time closer to break her legs LOL

Very encouraging couple of weeks for Jelena. :) Disappointing loss today, but Vera served so well to get out of 0-40 at 4-4 in the final set and to secure the subsequent break for the match. JJ lost more than a few 40-0 games in this match :( Still, looking forward to a continuation of this improving form and attitude from JJ in the coming weeks.

Too bad. I really think Jelena has more to challenge Caroline with than Vera.

JJ definitely had many chances, a pity she couldn't use them. This was a good 2 week swing for her, and surely she'll be one of the favorites in IW and Miami where she enjoys the atmosphere much more than these overblown MM tourneys.

Jelena, please learn how to break or win games when you have 40-0...I can forgive her that game in 3rd set because Vera did like 5 great first serves in a row...but other:help:
Jelena was playing well in 1st set, should have won it or make it close at least...she has like 4 games 40-0 or 40-15...:tape:...second set amazing Jaja, third also, shame she couldn't make it 5-5.

Vera was solid, but JJ imo better...so congrats Vera for fighting. GL against Caroline. ;)

I'm really looking forward to seeing Jelena at IW and Miami...and especially clay season. ;)

I was genuinely surprised to see Vera come back from 0-40 at 4-4 in the final set after playing three poor points in a row. Just when she looked like she was crumbling mentally, she managed to refocus and hit some really good serves to get out of trouble. Well done.

It's frustrating that JJ didn't take her chances but the big picture is looking good, Jelena has reached 2 SF in Tier I's in a row and pushed the World #2 to 6-4 in the third (which hasn't happened since like, Rome 2010). So good tournament overall. :)

Some of the frustrated JJ fans are ridiculous. She couldn't beat Rezai and Peng a month ago, but you'll complain about a three set loss to a top 3 player in a Premier SF? :sobbing:

On a more serious note, Vera used to be Jaja's bitch untill she [Vera] got that coach of her....good for her to find someone to keep her head straight. Now it looks like Jaja is the mental midget

How did she blow those BPs? Those were 3 solid 1st serves from Vera.

In this game at 4-4 0-40 yes, but before this, in 1 set she had one game 0-40 to break Vera...and then 40-30, and also couldn't win her service game at 40-0, Vera did almost nothing to win them, that was JJ fault.

But Jelena's form is much better than in Dubai, she's improving week by week. Ok, she could win this match, but OTOH she made 2 SF in a row lost to world no.1 and no.3 . I guess it's better than to Peng and Rezai, Diyas...etc.
